View 3 Replies View RelatedI believe I may have found a bug in Unity. Under the right circumstances an application will jump from the workspace where I left them to my current workspace. This is most noticeable with VirtualBox. I built an Ubuntu 11.04 virtual machine so that I could test out new packages before I push them out to the rest of my machines. But the window for the virtual machine constantly appears in my current workspace. It may take a few minutes, or 30 minutes, but it will happen.
I can kind of understand it if a new window appears, but at least with VirtualBox, this happens on a running virtual machine seemingly randomly.
I've recently installed 11.3 on my work laptop. I wanted to check out some wallpapers so went to "desktop activities" --> "get more wallpapers..." and installed a few. However, I can't see to find my newly installed wallpapers. It says they're installed, but they don't show up under wallpapers. Has anyone seen this before?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRunning Ubuntu 10.04 64bit.Is there a way to setup each workspace to have different icons on each workspace. Example:
Workspace 1 = Internet icon stuff (IM, Browsers, Etc...)
Workspace 2 = Multimedia icons (Video Editors, Music Clients)
Is there any way to have workspaces on multiple rows without the workspace switcher added to a panel? I have limited screen space so i want to try and remove any unnecessary items. I have tried using a drawer, but the workspace application is not loaded until the drawer is opened once. Also note I am not running compiz as the computer is a netbook.
View 2 Replies View Related'm pretty new to Linux in general, but I have Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal. I saw online about a Galaxy Live Wallpaper (http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/10/a...er-for-ubuntu/), but when I try to get it with the Terminal, it says 404 for a bunch of the stuff, so it won't install. From what I gather, it was only supported in 10.10, and not 11.04.My question is, are there any other live wallpapers that are compatible with Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal? I'm really digging this OS, I'd love to make it even better. The Galaxy one was just incredible, I reeeeally wish it worked.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Ubuntu 10.04. I switched from KDE4, where it was possible to use Compiz's Wallpaper plugin to have multiple wallpapers, so that each desktop has a different wallpaper. I tried to use this plugin now, and it doesn't work.

Obviously this info is a little obsolete since it is about Hardy, but it looks like recompiling Nautilus is still required. Can somebody tell me how to do this? Which packages do I need? Where to pull the right code from? Are there any precompiled Nautilus packages for Ubuntu 10.04 supporting Wallpaper plugin? (that would be amazing)
I would like to toggle between 2 or more wallpapers on my 4 desktops (Compiz) with a simple hot key. Is there a command I can add to the Compiz command settings that toggles between 2 wallpapers?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I've seen the tutorials where you simply tell nautilus to not draw the wallpaper and then use ccsm's wallpaper-plugin to set different wallpapers. It's just that I don't seem to have said plugin Where could it be?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was looking at the live CD for the latest release, and I started thinking about how good the wallpapers were for Hardy and Intrepid. I wish I had kept them.I kept the .iso files for them, surely I should be able to mount the .iso and retrieve the wallpapers. where I would be able to find the wallpapers on the mounted .iso (note the .iso is not necessarily burned to a cd).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Lucid Lynx and am enjoying it immensely.I was just wondering if anyone can help me with setting up Conky to work with the Compiz wallpaper plugin.I've disabled Nautilus from drawing my desktop to enable multiple wallpapers in Compiz, but now I can't get Conky to show up on the desktop. Can anyone who's done this in Lynx post their .conkyrc files please?I've tried googling around for a solution, but most of the threads I came across were from 2007-2009, and some of the configuration options for Compiz have been updated since then. It'd be cool if I can still use conky in my multi-paper environment.
View 9 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to get multiple wallpapers to work with a netbook logon? i.e a different wallpaper for each desktop.I am able to achieve this with a gnome login but when I login with a netbook window manager all desktops have the same wallpaper that is set in System->Appearance->Backup
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have found that the package "ubuntu-wallpapers-extra" appears to be the culprit in imposing a system-wide new default of a particular wallpaper background image on all users (both those already added and those yet to be added) as well as the login screen. It can be overridden. The problem is, it has to be overridden.
Anyone know of a way I can block any such changes from happening? If not that, what about a tool that will automatically revert such changes. The goal is so that users (and the login context) won't need an explicit background image to be set and when so, will get the image that was the default at install time.
I have a dual setup and just switched from Xubuntus Xfce? to Fluxbox... But now I can't set wallpapers on both my screens anymore. How do I do that? I had to change the Fluxbox menu from Head 1 to Head 2 to get it on my bigger, primary screen. Which is the one getting a wallpaper when I'm setting one.
Here's my xorg.conf:
Code:
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "X.org Configured"
Screen "Screen0"
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"

I'm using a multiple monitor setup, and I'd like to use a different wallpaper on each monitor. The default background selector, however, puts the same picture on every monitor. I've tried the application 'nitrogen' from the repositories which claims to be able to do just that, but it doesn't do anything.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 64bit desktop and 64bit laptop. I upgraded both to 10.10 and they both have the same problem with compiz. Even though I selected the cylinder distortion, the rotating desktops will not deform to a cylinder unless I select "Wallpaper" in compiz but when I do that, the cylinder is completely transparent AND objects (like windows or bouncing/squishing icons in AWN appear not to refresh. Like a window will not disappear after closing.
As an aside, I have four different wallpapers selected for the four different desktops, but none of them display when I select "Wallpaper" in compiz, I just get the transparent cylinder.
If I deselect "Wallpaper" in compiz, the problem with the refresh disappears immediately, as does the transparent wallpapers but the cylinder becomes disabled and I am left with a cube with a single wallpaper and no ability to decrease opacity during rotation.
This has happened with both my desktop and laptop. I have tried uninstalling all compiz components in Synaptic Package Manager and adding them back one at a time in case I added some conflicting components but this doesn't seem to help.
I did not change settings in the updates, so I have to assume that the problem has something to do with a bug in Compiz. The two computers have different video cards and the drivers are up to date, so I'm at a loss.
Has anyone else found this problem? Has anyone been able to display the cylinder distortion with four desktops with different wallpapers?
