But there are torrents with the same tracker that don'thave a problem and get downloaded fineThe logs don't give a clue about whats wrong either.I tried downloading those torrents with Vuze and I had the same problem. What could be wrong?

I have noticed that Ubuntu checks the / (which includes my home folder) for errors after a certain number of boots.
But the problem is it never checks another partition (Reiserfs) which I had created during installing Ubuntu.
I keep all my data there.
Now how do I configure Ubuntu so that it checks the partition I just mentioned ?
I just installed Banshee 1.7, now I get this error when I check for updates. It doesn't look like it's affiliated with Banshee but I can't figure out what it's for.

After a bad shutdown there is no prompt for fsck to run and the system just boots up. In fstab I have both options set to "1" for the partition Ubuntu is on, all others set to "0". Any ideas on both?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to C language and some help finding places in the following code where a system call is made and error checking is not done. I found one but since I don't know C language at all I'm not exactly sure what else to look for. Link to my file: [URL]...
I found one and added error checking:
if (setoutpipe){
//Changes: Added error checking to the system call close()
//Orginal Code: close(pidefd[1]);
if(close(pipefd[1] != 0){
fprintf(stderr, "Could not close piple.
");
exit(255);
}
I am trying to figure out how i would go about finding out where system call is made and error checking is not done. I have code below, if somebody can point me in the right direction where system call is made but error checking is not done.Quote:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>

I downloaded Go-OpenOffice from SlackBuilds.org, but I can't build it. make terminates with configure error: checking for C compiler default output file name. configure: error: in `/tmp/SBo/ooo-build-3.1.1.5': configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details.
(I can't find config.log anywhere) I use a quite 'light' installation (no xap, ap), and I suspect that I have some unmet dependencies, but the error message provides no information about what software is needed (I've installed all dependencies listed on SlackBuilds.org). I'm using Slackware64-13 with Xfce
I have created a shell script to customise mv command, now i have achieved to accomplish all the functionality of mv by using alias. But i found difficulty in accomplish the funcionality with options [Like mv -i or mv -f etc.]. I thought about logic which check the first argument whether its starting with a minus [-] or not. if its starting with argument it will set a flag and execute accordingly. But whenever this condition is checked it shell script will throw error of destination operand missing. But the same will work with out option.
Note: I have used an minus[-] expression for decreasing a counter on the script above. The below mentioned is the portion of script. Sry for troubling Im not gud @scripting.
for i in $*
do
{
argument=`expr $argument - 1`
if [ $argument = 0 ];
then
exit

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up an SSH connection from my school to my home, but not on port 22. I originally tried port 2222, but it didn't work. I called my school IT people and they said they block that port. I asked if they care if I set up an SSH and they said no, but that they wouldn't tell me which ports are blocked and which are open for "security" reasons (which I guess I can actually understand). They suggested just using port 22 or 222, but said if a ports open I can use it.
My question is, can I check ports without setting up SSH? It seems like a hassle to try a different port every day on my home SSHD file, come to school, see if it works and repeat. Is there a way I can check my computer home for connections that could connect, even if there isn't a service listening? I don't know how to do that, or even if its possible. If not, I suspect I'll just try a few until I find something that works, or just go ahead and use 22.
How can i check my FTP is working properly or not? or check out this connectivity?

I've run through the alien guy's wiki that's been posted several times and have set up the WPA key in the wireless directory. I've also seen some people using fwcutter on here? I'm not sure what that's for or how to use it.I think I've installed ndiswrapper, but am not sure how to use it. I've also been using this guys wiki [URL] because it's specific to my device, but once I get to the final step of building the LKM with: make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=`pwd`, nothing happens, it says it can't find the directory.

I have an old PC running 900Mhz Tbird CPU and 768Mb RAM. I also upgraded the HDD to a 60Gb. I've tried to install Gentoo, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Linux Mint and all and everyone of them stop at the line "checking hlt instructions" during the installtion. I've looked over the web and there are quite a few cases with the same problem, nonetheless the solution is not clear to me, still. I've managed to install CentOS, though, with the help of web forums, bypassing the error by typing from the Kernel "linux no-hlt" and pressing enter. Now when I rebooted the machine it keeps doing even though the install completed succesfully. I'm interested in loading CentOS to build a server since I used to run Ubuntu 8.04 on that box without any problems.

Looking in the install.txt it talks about this error and suggests renaming some files, I'm not keen to do this for fear of breaking something else but as it turns out they are already named what they need to be anyway.? Now I'm truly stumped.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got connected to Charter Cable Internet service a few days ago and I'm having a weird problem with my home network. Prior to this my network worked fine. On my network I have a desktop running Ubuntu 9.10/64 and Virtualbox with WinXP installed, an HTPC with Ubuntu 9.10/32 installed and a laptop dual booted with Ubuntu 9.10/32 and WinXP. The desktop and HTPC are hard wired to a wireless router and the laptop is wireless. The cable modem is hard wired to the router. I have samba installed and UFW is disabled. The problem is: with the cable modem turned off or on standby, all machines connect to each other and can transfer files, etc just fine but when I activate the cable modem all of the machines can connect to the Internet but the machines running Ubuntu can't connect to each other on the home network. If I boot the laptop into Windows, it can connect to the Linux machines just fine but if I boot it into Linux, it won't connect to the Linux machines but it can connect to the Internet and as far as the desktop, Ubuntu won't connect to the network but Windows running in the Virtualbox with bridged networking can connect to all of the machines.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 (Kubuntu) and have a LG Arena (KM900) smartphone which when plugged into the USB socket and I select the iSync option on the phone, the handset is correctly identified as a Mobile Broadband device in Ubuntu network manager.
