I am using Ubuntu 11.04 and a Huawei USB modem to connect to internet. Most of the time when I start computer it is not detected my system. Then I use to reboot and then it gets detected automatically. That means its drivers are now loaded. But I don't know why drivers are not loaded when I start first time.

At Saturday, 23rd October 2010 I bought a USB CDMA Modem named AX manufactured by Alltronix and has series
labeled ACM-001. The chipset is Qualcom. It didn't work on My Karmic Koala nor Lucid Lynx. I try to check some condition by writing some command in shell prompt like: tail -f /var/log/messages, lsusb, and modprobe. Here is the results.

I've just installed ubuntu on my father's netbook hp 210 mini 3g with internal 3g modem. At the beginning everything was fine - system automatically detected modem and asked for PIN code. I was very surprised but during download some updates connection broke.. and since then ubuntu doesn't detect modem. I have even reinstalled system

I have a ZTE HSUPA USB Modem Model:MF636 which used to work great and then is not longer detected.
I am using Fedora 12 and was having problems with the modem not been properly detected and filed a bug, which turned not to be a problem of NetworkManager, but an issue with udev.

I have tried restoring the file that I edited. It was back to the stated previusly reported. I also have tried to run an older kernel. Then I updated to the latest kernel available for Fedora 12. Nothing seems to work.

This card worked out-the-box - all I had to do was enter my static IP details! Is there any way to achieve the same functionality with the Solos 4 port?

If I am connected to the ethernet and then enable the modem connection, only the ethernet LAN side works. If I enable the modem and then enable a (disabled) ethernet connection, only the ethernet LAN side works. If I keep the ethernet disabled and connect using the modem, I can get out onto the Internet, but obviously not the LAN. I need to be able to do both.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 pcs at home. I dont have a switch so I can connect only one PC at a time to my adsl router/modem for internet access. In the past I had successfully connected the two PCs (NIC to NIC) to each other using the same ethernet cable which was supplied with my dlink adsl modem.
Recently the motherboard of on of my PC went bad so I replaced it with a new one. The problem is when I connect the two using the same Ethernet cable they won't connect. The lights on the Ethernet port won't light up. I can still connect both of them to the adsl router (NIC to Router) (one at a time).

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wireless modem has disappeared from the connection list at the top of the page. Strangely, a guest connection on that same modem is still visible but won't connect. I added the modem back in as a new connection and it was added to the list but it was greyed out and I still can't connect to it. The problem could, of course, be in the modem but I have no way to check that. Reset is not working. Lan connection to the modem works fine. This is the second time this has happened in the last week and I ended up reinstalling Ubuntu. This gave me back the wireless connection. I don't really want to have to do that again. Is there anything I can check in Ubuntu?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed 10.10, I'm using a HP tower with a cisco usb ae1000 modem. I have been on Linux all of 12 hours. I had installed on a old laptop, and hard wired to the router. I really liked the OS. And Long short I killed the laptop, literally.
So I partitioned the family tower, but I cannot connect wirelessly. And to run hard wire to the router would mean a complete tear down of my desk and set up in the living room area, and that will not help out the marriage long/short term.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Ubuntu at my home laptop (Dell) have had no problem. However, recently I installed 11.04 in my office laptop - Lenovo B450, but 'm unable to connect thru wireless.
It is simply not detecting the wireless. I have a dual boot with Windows 7. Windows 7 detects wireless (surprisingly).
I have tried configuring the network connection in all possible way (manual / auto).
I know there are a million threads about this, but my problem tends to be slightly different. I've read the sticky on here, I've googled around for a few days now, I've re-installed new drivers, tried a lot of different things. A lot of people seem to be having the issue of being able to see wireless networks, but they can't connect. I'm not that far yet.
When I click on my connections area, near the top right of the screen, then I got to edit connections, under wireless there is no wlan0 or eth1, where as if I do the same for the wired network, it lists a eth0. For some reason my wireless is on eth1, but I can only see that though lshw -C network.
Sometimes my laptops wireless "Light" is on, and sometimes its not. When its on, it means the wireless is enabled. But even when it is on, unfortunately I still have the same issue. I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit. I'm using an Acer Aspire 7552G-5430, it has the BCM43225 Wireless card.

Wireless not detected I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit. I am using an E machine laptop with a duel boot Win XP and Ubuntu. Both systems work great, the XP can go on line with a touch of the Fn and F2 keys but the Ubuntu mode will not.
I do not have a manual switch or button to activate the wireless. I dont want to mess up the windows XP Fn, F2 connection when I boot into XP. What should I do to connect Ubuntu to the Internet?
Are there other keys to activate wireless in Ubuntu or the wireless (addresses) routers in my area?
Is there a directory of key combinations that work with Ubuntu?

Now suddenly Ubuntu has stopped showing any of the WiFi networks. I have not done any changes in Ubuntu.When i booted to my Win 7, it was able to detect the network. I uninstalled and reinstalled Ubuntu, with no avail. But Ubuntu is able to detect the wired network when connected. I am at a loss.
