View 1 RepliesI had windows and 8.10 earlier and now have single boot 10.04 !
1.) I can see wireless networks only after I am connected to the router through wired ! I guess its some thing to do with me activating ifup and ifdown, when my wired connection stopped working as i was trying to install wireless drivers.
2.) Even when I see wireless networks, i cannot connect to any of them.
I tried various things for a whole day trying to fix it and i doubt if i screwed up some thing that was running good.
The netbook wired internet was working fine UNTIL I reset the internet modem! and then it no longer was able to connect to the internet.
I read several threads and did sudo lshw -C network
It said network disabled
ethernet interface
Atheros AR8132 lic gigabit ethernet adapter
physical id 0
bus info pci@0000 :02:00.0
sonia@sonia-laptop:~$ sudo lshw -C network
[sudo] password for sonia:

Installed 9.10 (not the remix version) on my netbook but can't seam to get the wireless working; followed a few threads on the net, but to no avail.

I've got a new HP Compaq Mini 110c-1110SD.
I've booted Ubuntu UNR 10.04 Beta2 from a USB stick and at first it seemed like everything worked so I installed it (dual boot with the installed Win XP which works fine, no network problems)
But .. I forgot to check if internet worked. Since I don't have a wireless, I plugged in a cable and the Auto eth0 showed up as connected.
Looks good, but I can't get internet to work. Local browsing on my LAN works ok, but getting on the internet doesn't work neither does apt-get so updating is a problem too.
Strangely enough, ping does work ...
I thought it had to do with UNR being a beta, so I've booted from a live UNR 9.10 usb stick, but same problem, no wired internet.
I'm totally stumped. I've been running Ubuntu since 2007 on several PC's and never had any problems with networking.
So, how do I fix this ?
I decided to try ubuntu on my netbook and it seems to have set up well other than I cannot see any wireless connections. I can't click on connection information. The blue light is on, indicating that my netbook's network card is on.
is there another version that would work better with an hp mini? Otherwise the netbook is rather pointless
I've got Puppy Linux on a USB key, and yesterday, while I was on the internet with it, it hanged. I didn't know what to do, and I rebooted from the button (I now know what to do ). The problem is that, after rebooting, Puppy doesn't recognise the router. I've tried to apply the drivers that are on Puppy, but there aren't any compatible.
My router is a Xavi 7968 and my Network Card is:
NIC Fast Ethernet PCI Familia RTL 8139 from Realtek
(On Realtek's website, there isn't any driver linux-compatible)
I've recently purchased a new laptop of ACER(aspire 5750). I've installed two OS(win-7 & ubuntu 10.04 LTS). Till now, on my ubuntu every things working fine except i can't able to access my cable model broadband.
I open up the "Network connections" section & at there i saw it can't able to detect any WIRED connection.
I've checked my all my ethernet jack & all rest of connection. All r perfect. But, don't know why it can't able to detect my broadband. But, in windows section, broadband is working fine.
NOTE: ACER aspire 5750 using Broadcom netlink 57785 gigabit ethernet PCIe
I have a dell 1521 and I can't get internet working, I thing the driver is no working with ubuntu 9.10

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've read about all of the problems with the HP Mini's wireless and the Broadcom drivers. Running 10.04 LTS.

just installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my new HP Mini 210 (info). Everything is working fine -- webcam, shortcut keys etc, but I'm having some difficulties connecting to our wireless network. When I click on the network panel item, there are no networks visible. Now, I also have Windows 7 Starter on the netbook (what I'm using right now) and that's able to connect to the network fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu Netbook on my windows xp machine, a HP Mini 110 with a broadcom wireless card, I installed using Wubi. The wireless on the ubuntu side isn't working and I can't plug into a physical line, how do I fix this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to start off with this: I installed Ubuntu on my HP Mini 1151nr, and it went well. But after installation, the only way I can connect to internet is by directly hooking up to my modem. My wireless is disabled, and I do not think that I have the drivers for it.
The "Additional Drivers" found two Broadcom 802.11b/g drivers, but when I downloaded it came up with errors and didn't work.
I wiped and loaded my mini. ran the ubuntu 10.04.. had to run hardware drivers twice to finally get reference to broadcom and then wireless came on!! Hurray! however (yes, dhcp).. no dns on wireless but on eth0 no problem everything shows up ip, dns.. works fine.. go to wireless it connects, gets ip but in connection information no dns servers listed
View 4 Replies View RelatedI successfully did a dual boot on a HP Mini 1001TU netbook. However, the wireless doesn't connect. Over the internet, someone had a similar problem with his Dell notebook using a Karmic and said that Karmic has a bug that doesn't install the "Broadcom STA wireless Driver" and recommended a prerequisite wired internet connection then the following command line:
sudo apt-get update
sudo-get -reinstall install bcmwl-kernel-source
Followed by a reboot which solves the problem.
I would like to try this out but the netbook only accepts a USB -router connection but my router doesn't have a USB port.
I just Installed Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Edition in my HP MINI 1120 Nr everthing seem to be FINE but WIFI not showing i think the driver is missing.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung N310 with a atheros wireless card. Been having trouble getting it to work. I was thinking about upgrading to a N card anyway so I will be buying one tonight. Does anyone know of a Mini PCI N card that works out of the box with ubuntu 64bit?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a totally rookie at all this. I installed Ubuntu 10.4 Netbook edition in an HP Mini 1116 NR computer--I used an SD card & UNetbootin) and the wireless router is not recognized. I've been pretty much googling and troubleshooting this problem for most of the day. I always get stuck at a dead end. This netbook does not have an ethernet adapter nor a CD-Rom drive, so I have no way of connecting to the internet w/out wireless. I am able to download things from my other laptop to the SD card.
1. When I enter sudo apt-get install build-essential at the terminal, I get "package not found."
2. When I try to install b43-fwcutter or bcmwl-kernel-source, it either won't work because I can't connect to the net or I get a "dkms dependency" issue.
3. So I tried to install the dkms pacakge and got a "gcc dependency" issue. After that, I come up with a dead end.
An alternative option, so I read, is to use ndiswrapper and download the HP wireless broadcom driver, but that driver is a .exe file and I read that ndiswrapper needs a .inf file and I can't seem to find one. Does it matter?
I am not able to connect to a wireless network with the HP mini 110 series. When going to the wireless network menu, no networks shows up. if the solution could be described in a very easy "how-to" or just be made into a patch (if there is pathes on ubuntu) it would be nice.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installer Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix on my Compaq Mini 700EL, the ubuntu website says that everything works very well including the wireless. But for some reason the list of connection doesn't appear at all. It just says "device not ready" This is driving me a little nuts. It appears that the Broadcom drivers are installed. I typed lspci on the terminal and it says that the computer loads a Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01)
I also downloaded the drivers even though they should be already in it. But I'm not sure.
I recently installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my Dell Inspiron Mini 10, and for some reason it isn't detecting any wireless networks. The wireless works perfectly fine when I boot to Windows XP on the netbook, but not when I'm using Ubuntu. I tried troubleshooting using this htmlAt the "check for device recognition" step, the terminal tells me that it's disabled, but as far as I can tell there isn't a physical switch that allows me to turn the wireless on or off, and again, it works perfectly fine when I use XP. What should I do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu netbook remix on an HP mini 110-3130 and its working great. My only complaint is that with certain webpages or programs part of the window goes beyond the dimensions of the screen. Is there any way for me to fix that? for example some program windows go below the screen and others go further right than the screen. I have attached an image that serves as the perfect example.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Mini 9 with a failed SSD. I created a bootable USB drive from the Ubuntu-10.10-netbook-i386.iso. It boots up the Dell Mini ok. If after selecting 'try ubuntu' from the Live USB and setting the desktop and wireless up, is there a way I could image that config on the same or different USB. It would be like installing Ubuntu 10.10 on a USB device instead of a HD. The Mini has 1G RAM.
