Ubuntu Networking :: Compaq Mini 110 No Wired Internet?
Oct 4, 2010The netbook wired internet was working fine UNTIL I reset the internet modem! and then it no longer was able to connect to the internet.
I read several threads and did sudo lshw -C network
It said network disabled
ethernet interface
Atheros AR8132 lic gigabit ethernet adapter

May 27, 2011I have a compaq mini 110-1000 with integrated 3g modem and natty narwhal. I bought a vodafone data sim card, I've configured the network manager but it doesn't work! All solution I found are possible only with the hp connection manager. but I've removed windows!!
This is what I see with "lsusb"

Ubuntu Networking :: Compaq Mini 700EL Wireless Doesn't Work?
Jun 13, 2010I just installer Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix on my Compaq Mini 700EL, the ubuntu website says that everything works very well including the wireless. But for some reason the list of connection doesn't appear at all. It just says "device not ready" This is driving me a little nuts. It appears that the Broadcom drivers are installed. I typed lspci on the terminal and it says that the computer loads a Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01)
I also downloaded the drivers even though they should be already in it. But I'm not sure.

I've got a new HP Compaq Mini 110c-1110SD.
I've booted Ubuntu UNR 10.04 Beta2 from a USB stick and at first it seemed like everything worked so I installed it (dual boot with the installed Win XP which works fine, no network problems)
But .. I forgot to check if internet worked. Since I don't have a wireless, I plugged in a cable and the Auto eth0 showed up as connected.
Looks good, but I can't get internet to work. Local browsing on my LAN works ok, but getting on the internet doesn't work neither does apt-get so updating is a problem too.
Strangely enough, ping does work ...
I thought it had to do with UNR being a beta, so I've booted from a live UNR 9.10 usb stick, but same problem, no wired internet.
I'm totally stumped. I've been running Ubuntu since 2007 on several PC's and never had any problems with networking.
So, how do I fix this ?

Jun 22, 2010I decided to try ubuntu on my netbook and it seems to have set up well other than I cannot see any wireless connections. I can't click on connection information. The blue light is on, indicating that my netbook's network card is on.
is there another version that would work better with an hp mini? Otherwise the netbook is rather pointless

Dec 16, 2010I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my Mini 700 EL and when I start it doesn't give me the option to install it alongside Windows. Wubi does not give me the option to install onto the system, only to reboot and install it completely. When I try to install from booting from the USB key, I decide to edit partitions manually and I don't get the option of resizing the Windows partition, I can only delete it.

The ethernet cable instantly gave me connection and i was able to run updates but the wifi still doesnt work i think the updates only updated the free ones and not the non-free ones cause i dont remember ever specifying to download the non free ones how do i manually specify to download all available updates?

My only complaint is that with certain webpages or programs part of the window goes beyond the dimensions of the screen. Is there any way for me to fix that? for example some program windows go below the screen and others go further right than the screen. I have attached an image that serves as the perfect example.

Nov 6, 2010A few months ago, I got one of these and it is great for travel. I had to buy Norton for it and now the trial MS Office has expired which burns me. MS Windoze 7 Light is an adventure plus all the other bundled useless (to me) HP stuff.I use SUSE Linux 11.2 on my main mail/internet desktop and I like it a lot so I have been thinking about swapping the hard drive out of the HP Mini and loading 11.2.
Has anybody done this? I've searched but haven't turned up any threads about this. I'm a newbie so maybe I need to be pointed?Maybe there is a more suitable Linux distribution but I only know SUSE and am ok with it.My HP is a Mini 210-1000 if that is relevant.

So i select boot with removable disk, but then it just resumes to boot as windows as it normally does. It's great, except that the videos won't display properly in Ubuntu Netbook Remix (Lucid) on my Dell Mini 10v.I've tried using Gstreamer (Banshee), Xine (Totem-xine), and MPlayer (GNOME MPlayer). These all should have worked, which makes me think something may be wrong either with the files themselves or my computer. Anyone have any idea what's going on here?FYI, when I pull up the Properties dialogue for one of the videos and look in the Audio/Video tab, it says:

Feb 11, 2010I'm totally new to Ubuntu and have just set my laptop up to dual boot. It is an HP Compaq 6720s. I am running crunchbang just now. And am running Ubuntu from the live CD to look at things and familiarise myself.
My laptop has the Broadcom wireless card inbuilt. BUT.. I cannot get Crunchbang or the Ubuntu (8.10) to see the wireless. Is there some little thing I am missing or something that I should set up that I don't know about?

Dec 8, 2010I upgraded today from 8.04 to 10.04 using the update manager. I'd never done it this way before, always just reinstalled, but everything worked fantastically, except for this anomoly.
Wireless was working faultlessly in 8.04. After the upgrade, cable works fine and lspci gives me this:

So, using Network Manager (wicd no diff), running exactly the static IPs I had before but nothing. Doesn't see any access points, not just mine.
