I read several threads and did sudo lshw -C network
It said network disabled

I have a compaq mini 110-1000 with integrated 3g modem and natty narwhal. I bought a vodafone data sim card, I've configured the network manager but it doesn't work! All solution I found are possible only with the hp connection manager. but I've removed windows!!

I just installer Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix on my Compaq Mini 700EL, the ubuntu website says that everything works very well including the wireless. But for some reason the list of connection doesn't appear at all. It just says "device not ready" This is driving me a little nuts. It appears that the Broadcom drivers are installed. I typed lspci on the terminal and it says that the computer loads a Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01)
I also downloaded the drivers even though they should be already in it. But I'm not sure.
I'm new to Fedora, I used to have Ubuntu 10 and found that some software I required would not work properly so I decided to Fedora under recommendation from a friend. I really like it but when I installed Fedora 13 on my Netbook I found it difficult to set up my wireless connection.

I've got a new HP Compaq Mini 110c-1110SD.
I've booted Ubuntu UNR 10.04 Beta2 from a USB stick and at first it seemed like everything worked so I installed it (dual boot with the installed Win XP which works fine, no network problems)
But .. I forgot to check if internet worked. Since I don't have a wireless, I plugged in a cable and the Auto eth0 showed up as connected.
Looks good, but I can't get internet to work. Local browsing on my LAN works ok, but getting on the internet doesn't work neither does apt-get so updating is a problem too.
Strangely enough, ping does work ...
I thought it had to do with UNR being a beta, so I've booted from a live UNR 9.10 usb stick, but same problem, no wired internet.
I'm totally stumped. I've been running Ubuntu since 2007 on several PC's and never had any problems with networking.
So, how do I fix this ?
I decided to try ubuntu on my netbook and it seems to have set up well other than I cannot see any wireless connections. I can't click on connection information. The blue light is on, indicating that my netbook's network card is on.
is there another version that would work better with an hp mini? Otherwise the netbook is rather pointless
my ubuntu can not detect my wired and wireless mini netbook is HP 100e and impressive is that in any way I can be connected
View 1 Replies View RelatedI install ubuntu in a compaq mini CQ10 and it worked very well, found no problems with the hardware, then I start to download more than 200 mb of updates from the update manager, after the reboot, a black screen appears with a underscore in the top and ubuntu doesn't start.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have got a lap top (Compaq Mini 311), I tried to install Ubuntu 10.04, but after installing it I found only a black screen with a blinking whithe bar, and the keyboard does not work anymore.Looking across the net, I found this page , where is written that I have to install the previous version, do some operation and then upgrade it. Well, also with Ubuntu 9.10 and Ubuntu 9.04 I have got the same problem: total freezeing of the computer after the installation.
So, I tried to install ubuntu with wubi, as a virtual machine, but the problem is exactly the same.Somethimes, it may happen that Ubuntu loads, but it happens about in 1/50 cases.I installed it many times, everytime erasing the partition, but actually I have a boot menu with about 6 or 7 linux (not working), and windows, loading windows I can choose between win and ubuntu, if I choose ubuntu, I have 5 options: 4 are not-working-linux, and one of them is windows. If I choose windows, I come back to the previous menu: a loop on grub was done, but I don't know how.
I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my Mini 700 EL and when I start it doesn't give me the option to install it alongside Windows. Wubi does not give me the option to install onto the system, only to reboot and install it completely. When I try to install from booting from the USB key, I decide to edit partitions manually and I don't get the option of resizing the Windows partition, I can only delete it.

My netbook model is HP Compaq Mini 110 the distribution i am using is Linux Mint 10
My broadcom wifi device isnt working or something.
When i first installed mint, it said that i needed non-free drivers?
The ethernet cable instantly gave me connection and i was able to run updates but the wifi still doesnt work i think the updates only updated the free ones and not the non-free ones cause i dont remember ever specifying to download the non free ones how do i manually specify to download all available updates?
I also typed:
The output says:
Also when i right click on the little network sign on the bottom right corner, then it says "Wireless Networks device not read (firmware missing)"
I have this mac mini laying around. It runs leopard fairly okay. I was wondering if it would be able to run Ubuntu netbook remix. I figure it would run fine, I'm not exactly sure though. I just want to get it running so my brother has a computer to use.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu netbook remix on an HP mini 110-3130 and its working great. My only complaint is that with certain webpages or programs part of the window goes beyond the dimensions of the screen. Is there any way for me to fix that? for example some program windows go below the screen and others go further right than the screen. I have attached an image that serves as the perfect example.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Mini 9 with a failed SSD. I created a bootable USB drive from the Ubuntu-10.10-netbook-i386.iso. It boots up the Dell Mini ok. If after selecting 'try ubuntu' from the Live USB and setting the desktop and wireless up, is there a way I could image that config on the same or different USB. It would be like installing Ubuntu 10.10 on a USB device instead of a HD. The Mini has 1G RAM.

A few months ago, I got one of these and it is great for travel. I had to buy Norton for it and now the trial MS Office has expired which burns me. MS Windoze 7 Light is an adventure plus all the other bundled useless (to me) HP stuff.I use SUSE Linux 11.2 on my main mail/internet desktop and I like it a lot so I have been thinking about swapping the hard drive out of the HP Mini and loading 11.2.
Has anybody done this? I've searched but haven't turned up any threads about this. I'm a newbie so maybe I need to be pointed?Maybe there is a more suitable Linux distribution but I only know SUSE and am ok with it.My HP is a Mini 210-1000 if that is relevant.
I have ubuntu 10.04 netbook edition on my usb. But, when I go to install it, by restarting and then clicking F12 (is F12 the right one?) and the menu comes up. So i select boot with removable disk, but then it just resumes to boot as windows as it normally does. I need to get this menu right so I can install Ubuntu...My computer is a Dell inspiron mini 10 (1012).

I'm totally new to Ubuntu and have just set my laptop up to dual boot. It is an HP Compaq 6720s. I am running crunchbang just now. And am running Ubuntu from the live CD to look at things and familiarise myself.
My laptop has the Broadcom wireless card inbuilt. BUT.. I cannot get Crunchbang or the Ubuntu (8.10) to see the wireless. Is there some little thing I am missing or something that I should set up that I don't know about?
I loaded Ubuntu 10.04 on my Compaq Evo N800c as a single operating system. I cannot get my wireless connection to work which is the Compaq w200. I tried connecting the internet through a wired connection and the computer shows it tries to connect and does for all of 3-5 seconds. I then get a internet disconnected message at the top of the screen.

Wireless was working faultlessly in 8.04. After the upgrade, cable works fine and lspci gives me this:
Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)
So the system can still see the card. But have a look at this:

So, using Network Manager (wicd no diff), running exactly the static IPs I had before but nothing. Doesn't see any access points, not just mine.
