I've just bought a GEETEK Hercules USB Wlan adapter, which has the Ralink rt3072 chipset. The Connection manager can find wireless APs, but it won't connect to any of those. Also, aircrack-ng does not find any APs while scanning.After some tinkering and a lot of restarting, I can now connect t wireless networks, although slowly. However, I still can't use it with aircrack-ng.
View 6 Repliesive just installed the aircrack package in my dell vostro 1310 which i bought with its ordinary wireless card ( hell knows what it is. couldn't find..).At the very first time while trying to reach my wireless internet i was using backtrack 4 and i was not sucesfull.. that would be good normally, but it was not. because i couldnt do it cuz my wireless card wasnt being recognized by airmon..so i tought..i can use my wireless with ubuntu... then i got ubuntu again.. and intalled the aircrack.. as i run it i found ou t that still it wont find my wireless card...do i need any further config. to make it work with aircrack ??i can only find eth0, which is my wired network device....

I'm having an issue with aircrack-ng, when I use an aireplay-ng I don't get any ACKs from my network.
I'm using a RNX-EASYN1 with a rt3070 chipset on ubuntu 9.10

This one is for my network, but I tried it for some other networks just to check if there's something wrong with my network. But I didn't get any ACKs anyway.
I'm not very familiar with aircrack-ng, because I just started to play with it, please if there's somebody who's good with using an aircrack-ng.
I was wondering if there is a way to manually patch Aircrack -ng with 'airodump-ng-channel-handling-broken-fix.patch' without installing compact wireless package, because I end up with nonfunctional network when I compile compact wireless package. If possible where to paste that patch?

I have an Acer Aspire One -532h and i just installed ubuntu 10. I am trying to crack my own Wep network at home with Aircrack-ng. So after i installed Ubuntu and installed everything in "updatemanager", i installed Aircrack,Macchanger. And as i look in "iwconfig" and ifconfig i see the Atheros driver Ath9k and Wlan0. Now my 1st question. Do i have to install madwifi or such for the aircrack to inject?
2:nd I have tried to install madwifi also but when aireplay-ng want to inject ,the whole computer freezes. How do i fix this?....have looked aound google and found that many have the same trouble...
I am trying to audit my wireless router due to someone in the neighbourhood hacking it, and have run into a few problems. When I run airodump-ng, everything works fine. However, when I try to get the .csv file and run "airodump-ng -w test --channel 6 --bssid ---------- mon1" (obviously with my the mac address of my AP instead of x's) I get this:
CH 6 ][ Elapsed: 4 s ][ 2011-02-02 17:48 ][ fixed channel mon1: -1 ] The problem is the [ fixed channel mon1: -1 ], because when I go to the next step to try to force a handshake, it says:

18:00:34 mon1 is on channel -1, but the AP uses channel 6
I have scoured the Internet for answers, and have seen several people with the same problem, but no solutions that work for me. I think it may have something to do with the driver. I really do apologise if this has been answered properly several times, but none of the solutions seem to be working in my case.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIm running Ubuntu 11.04 with alfa awus036nh. I first tried to install drivers from alfa disc for RT3070. Everything seemed to be working but i got the imfamous mon0 channel -1 problem with aireplay-ng. Did some research-downloaded and tried different drivers rt2800 rtl 8170. Bottom line is i dont know what THE F*** im doing. I think i installed three different drivers. Now airodump doesnt show any output. Im going crazy. Is linux designed to make ppl go crazy. Windows is calling me to go back to it. THings shouldnt be this complicated. BTW im on a asus laptop with atheros ar 9285 card in it. a breif explanation of how drivers work in linux . Once again maybe im just putting the cart b4 the horse as im only about 2 weeks fresh into ubuntu.

And I get this output: Found 5 processes that could cause trouble. If airodump-ng, aireplay-ng or airtun-ng stops working after a short period of time, you may want to kill (some of) them!

Both PCs (ubuntu 10.04 laptop wireless, 8.10 desktop wired) connected to it can print, but not scan, since XSANE does not recognize the scanner over the network. It does hoverer both, scanning and printing, if connected with an USB cable. How can i configure xsane to recognize my RX500 over the network?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI actually have two problems: I couldn't get DUN to work with Ubuntu for a while and then one day it just magically worked and would let me find the device and connect to it. And then it broke again. So in my effort to fix the problem it looks like Bluetooth went completely off the rails. When I try to add a Bluetooth device through the manager it just keeps spinning with "Searching for Devices" but the spinning finds nothing (it would run for an eternity if I let it, it seems). hcitool scan reports "Scanning ..." and then drops back to command prompt. hciconfig notes the device is up. The device has no soft/hard locks on it. If anyone has a CLUE about what it could be.
Obvious note: My phone is in bluetooth mode and discoverable so that isn't the problem.
If I make the computer visible, my phone DOES NOT pick up it's there. Also, bluetooth works fine on the Fedora USB stick.

I am not a C++ geeg, so first thing that comes to my mind is that i will use simple BASH SCRIPT that will interact with iptables and monitor user activity, network activity etc. (but I thing that would not be good solution due to performance and capabilities, and also I am not familliar with memory in linux at all). I was reading aboud SNORT HIDS, NIDS... AFAIK some information can be obtainet from /proc but I have no idea which values should be monitored.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe adapter I purchased (Zonet ZEW2508 ) uses the Ralink 2070 chipset - a fact that originally excited me because Ralink seems to be fairly loving to the Linux community. However, despite my best efforts I can't get the thing to work. Initially I tried following directions to set up the driver you can download from the Ralink website. The directions I found were written February first, and Ralink updated the driver February eighth - so as far as I can tell the directions no longer work. After screwing around trying to figure that out for a while I decided to give ndiswrapper a go.
Initially this seemed promising. I just harvested the drivers from the CD and followed one of the many ndiswrapper directions available - most helpful seemed initially to be the Ndiswrapper Troubleshooting Guide found in this forum, however the solutions offered there didn't work either. When I throw an ndiswrapper -l into the terminal it looks promising at first, it tells me the driver is installed and the device is present, but it just doesn't work. When I try iwconfig, or iwlist scan it tells me "no wireless extensions," and "interface doesn't support scanning" respectively. The only devices even listed are lo, eth0, and pan0. There's no wlan0 or anything of the sort.
I'm trying to setup a Centos 5.6 Squid Proxy Server with Content Filtering & Antivirus Scanning Incoming HTTP Traffic from the Internet
I then proceeded to setup an configure the Proxy Server, i was able to test and confirm that Squid and Dansguardian Content Filter is working, however i dont know if Clamav is scanning HTTP traffic before it hits the client/server. Is there a way i can check if the Antivirus scanning is working.. is there some log file or real world test i can i can do to confirm that Clamav is scanning incoming traffic or even blocking potential viruses ??
Anyone who has squid proxy server with Clamav configured and its working can share there settings/setup with me and how they tested it ??
