Programming :: NameError: Global Name 'set' Is Not Defined

Apr 17, 2011

I have a Red Hat 4.9 server running python 2.3.4. However I need some of the new functions so I downloaded and installed Python 2.7.1. I wanted to use the "set" function which was not in the earlier version.

/bin/python is 2.3.4
/usr/local/bin/python is 2.7.1

I have a script running 2.3.4 which calls the 2.7.1 script however it fails because it cannot find the "set" command here is an example

Script1
#!/bin/python
import Mytest

[code]....

The error message is :

NameError: global name 'set' is not defined

Programming :: Python - Global Name Not Defined

Jun 17, 2011

I found an interesting screencast online about how to make gtk Pyton apps. The thing is, though, the guy was using the interactive shell. I've been trying to get his code into a script, and have been having troubles.

Here's what I got:

Code:

It spits out the error "NameError: global name 'browser' is not defined"

I know I'm doing something wrong with how I'm telling it where to find "browser" and "text", but I can't figure out how to point it to the right place.

Debian :: GUI App - Installing System Config Samba

May 7, 2013

I use this GUI app a lot when I was using Ubuntu. Very simple to use. I want to use it in my new Debian 7 xfce install. My understanding is that I would have to build a deb from source to allow me to use this app? If this is the case, what is the best (easiest) way to do this. I saw some videos in YouTube but I'm not sure if things have changed with the new Debian 7. I have never used Debian before so if possible, go easy on me...

CentOS 5 :: Get System-config-samba To 'see' Winbind Users And Groups

Jul 14, 2009

I have a Samba File Server that can authenticate users in my Windows AD to log into the server. Anyways, I have a good amount of Windows Admins on staff but our org wants to cut budget so our first "slash" as it were is cutting down the actual Windows based File Servers. So my question is, now that I have this test server up and authenticating for logins using Windbind....is there a way I can get system-config-samba to "see" winbind users and groups so that file servers can still be "point and click" for my Windows Admins?

Server :: Some Options In System-config-samba Dialog Are Not Working Properly?

Apr 13, 2010

I am using Fedora 12. I have the following problem, when i working with system-config-samba dialog:I add the new user on the server:as following:

Unix username: vova
Windows username:test

As described in Customisation Guide for Red Hat 9: "If the user has a different username on a Windows machine and will be logging into the Samba serverfrom the Windows machine, specify that Windows username in the Windows Username field."So i logged from the Windows machine not under test(Windows username) but under vova. And i logged in without the problem. However it seems that samba should check windows username=test (as have written in samba-config) and ask an password for different users. And additionally, if samba check the currect user in Windows itself and verify it with Unix user, what for we need write the Windows username in samba config? I don't understand

Ubuntu Networking :: Samba Crashes 11.04 When Transferring Files <1gb?

Aug 9, 2011

I've got a quadcore PC, 2gb ram pc running ubuntu 11.04 with samba set up on a shared folder - the plan is to share files and media between myself and my housemates. However, I do not have the router attached by ethernet, I am connecting to the router (in another room) by a d-link wireless dongle.

I can access the share without real issue from my windows laptop and other computers in the house share I'm part of, and I can happily transfer a text file here and there, but it seems to be anything over 20mb will not go. All the files I am trying to transfer are >1gb and it's driving me mad.

After some decent transfer rates of around 1mb per second it just freezes up. The screen attached to the actual server goes blank and the host becomes unreachable by ping.I'll be happy to provide any command results or anything to get this working. any assistance would be welcome!

Networking :: Samba Config - Cannot Access Share On Home Network

Sep 1, 2010

I've used Samba for several years and when it works it's great. Unfortunately from time to time it seems to get messed up and either all the 7 machines on my home network can't be seen or I can't access the shares on some. I have 2 Windows XP computers 4 Kubuntu and one Linux Mint KDE, all the latest versions. I'd rather not plough through all the documentation for Samba, but would really like a "model" smb.conf with a few comments about parts that might have legitimate variants. I have researched this with Google searches many times but have failed to find the information I need in concise form.

I've been running F10 since it first came out, and I was happy to see it was the first Fedora release that automatically recognized my Atheros wireless card. I have to run system-config-network and press the "activate" button when I start the machine, but that's ok and no big deal. But today, for whatever reason,in system-config-network, the "activate" and "deactivate" buttons are grayed out and I cannot start the device so I have no network access. When I boot the machine into Windows, it works fine.

Fedora Networking :: IPW2200 - Failed To Send System Config

Jun 8, 2009

I'm using Fedora 9 and I recently transferred my hard drive to a new laptop. Everything went smoothly except the wireless, which promptly broke. I played around with the network service and the NetworkManager service and chkconfig stuff and system-config-network, until I finally got it to work. Now I have wireless, but every time I shut down, I get some error-like messages:

"ipw2200: Failed to send SYSTEM_CONFIG: Already sending a command." repeating every second for about 3 or 4 seconds before it finally does shut down.

These also appear in dmesg, usually about 20 in a row, thus my concern. My wireless device's interface is eth3. How to get rid of this message while still keeping wireless connectivity.

Ubuntu Installation :: File System Not Defined?

Jan 6, 2010

I'm trying to install Ubuntu build 9.10 on my Macbook Pro. All's fine and and dandy when it comes to partitioning the hard drive on Boot Camp.

However, when installing Ubuntu I get to the Partitioning stage (Step 5 I believe) and when I select the space that I have allocated for Ubuntu (80g) and go to hit forward, the wizard hits me with File System not Defined.

Question is to you guys, do I then have to select that space and edit it with the Change function (if so what do I change), or, do I have to change the way the space is formatted on the OSX side of things.

The partitioned space is hfs if that has anything to do with it?

Running OSX 10.5.8 all up to date.

Ubuntu :: No Root File System Is Defined

May 18, 2010

I have been using Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop version for around 1 month then i stoped using after installing windows 7, as I knew that there were the 10.04 version coming. So when it was released i went to torrent download the file and burned it on a cd. After that i insert the cd and use the wubi installer in there as i want to install them side by side. so after installing ubuntu i restarted the system and got into it. After a few minutes it appeared this error message "Not root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu." So i was expecting it to be downloading problems. I went on to ubuntu website requested for a CD and it came today. So i inserted the cd did the same thing again.
