I'm running evolution 2.30.3 in ubuntu 10.10, with unity desktop, and I can't find the "purge" option for the tasks. As it disappeared or is it just me not finding it ? Also, while I'm here, I understand that unity is still in development. Where can I report the issues I notice while running it ?
View 3 RepliesRecently installed 10.10 netbook edition, and evolution is behaving strangely. Albeit I've never used it before, but having read the documentation and googled it a bit I'm still lost. I cannot create or manage task lists. It's as if their functionality has been completely cut out of ev calendar. When I try to go to File->New->Task List, the Task list option does not appear in the menu (not greyed out, nothing). Can't find the button that's supposed to be there either. I've also checked synaptic for evolution task packages, but no avail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Evolution in Gnome 3 and I'm having this rather annoying issue---whenever I make a new Task, it does NOT show up in the Tasks bar. Even if I try searching for it, the task doesn't show up (even making a new Task List doesn't show up), which makes me think it was never saved properly in the first place. I also tried seeing if there was any sort of error while running Evolution by opening it via the terminal, but I don't get anything. Does anyone else have this issue? Is this a known bug with Evolution
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I found that the majority of my tasks on Evolution (2.28.3) had just disappeared. I last did a backup of my system 2 weeks ago but in that time important data has been added to my tasks lists on Evolution. I've read around and found that the problem may be fixed by rebuilding evolution-data-server (see here). However, if this means re-compiling evolution-data-server from the package manager, well, I don't seem to keen on doing that unless I can get confirmation of how to implement it, i.e. how do I rebuild evolution-data-server?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI went to remove FreeNX from my Ubuntu Lucid machine so I opened the terminal and typed: "sudo aptitude purge freenx" The command worked but when I used the command "locate nx" I got a list of FreeNX associated files (as well as nxserver files). Is it possible to completely remove a program from my system? I thought "sudo aptitude purge" would do it but apparently not. My only concern is that in the future if I decide to install something related to this program it will interfere and cause problems.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen upgrading to Maverick I accidentally (yes, I know, my bad) installed Grub to my Ubuntu partition instead of to the MBR. It was already installed to the MBR prior to this. So, when I rebooted all I got was the Grub rescue console. I loaded the Linux image with a different boot loader on floppy instead, and proceeded to uninstall and reinstall Grub2 to MBR with

However, on restart I now get the regular Grub console, but not the selection screen to select what to boot. This even though all Linux kernel images and the Windows 7 partition I have was found during the reinstall. So, seems I need to do a complete purge of Grub from both MBR and sda3 (which is the Ubuntu partition i accidentally chose on upgrade), and start over clean. Question is then, how do I do it, line by line from the terminal?
Did a fresh install of 10.04 Desktop 86_64 this weekend. One of the first issues I noticed right away was that apt was not function properly. Say for example you install the packages tor and vidalia (assume I'm running everything from root). #apt-get install tor vidalia This command will check and install necessary dependencies, for example 'privoxy'. Now if you decide that you don't want to use privoxy and instead use polipo, you would probably feel inclined to remove privoxy. Well I found that apt-get autoremove, apt-get remove, apt-get purge WILL NOT remove all the files/directories associated with the package. You'll find that after running each of these commands, there will still be directories, scripts, etc. in /etc/init, /etc, and /etc/rc*.d. The only solution I've found to completely removing a package is aptitude purge [package].

I've just upgraded from ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 64 bit, and everything went well except for the fglrx driver installation, which failed. I've checked the troubleshooting guide and tried to purge the drivers, with only partial success.

I have searched around a bit and am having difficulty purging blockcontrol off my system. I am running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS i686 version. I have been able to remove some of the programs attached to blockcontrol but cannot remove blockcontrol. The synaptics package manager and console root access will not rip out blockcontrol. I want the entire Moblock/Blockcontrol set off the system.

I've setup two printers through a system running Ubuntu server that are shared with 30-40 users on our school network.
If the printers run out of ink or paper, they stop printing. The lazier members of staff don't proceed to recharge the ink or paper so when somebody does, hours later, the old jobs start printing again which the teachers no longer need or want.
I'd like to automatically have my system purge print jobs older than 1 hour. I'm running CUPS and sharing the printers through SAMBA. How do I do this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a webserver WWW1 and a front-facing proxy PRX. I use SSH ProxyCommand to connect to WWW1's internal IP (private IP) via PRX (private+public IP). For some connections (not all) I see a network connection left open after I'm finished. These add up!

On PRX, lsof | grep WWW1:ssh shows 124 open connections at the moment. On WWW1, the same command shows 243 open connections. There are similar open connections for WWW2, WWW3 etc.
WWW1 and PRX are Debian. Client connections are coming from a mix of Debian, Ubuntu and OSX10.6. I use Emacs Tramp but this has no special configuration (AFAIK) outside of my ~/.ssh/config. I'm concerned about running out of internal ports, and ideally I want these connections to clean themselves up without intervention. Ideally by configuring them to kill themselves off; failing that a command I can kill old processes with is fine!

View 10 Replies View Relatedwriting a script that would keep the last three versions of tcpdump files.Due to the version of tcpdump I must use -C and cannot use -G. Using -C generates a new file after X MB's have been written and adds a .x after each new one. The problem is that these files are filling up the disk too quickly. The main part of the script will kill tcpdump when a certain condition is met but in the meantime I need to purge and only keep say the three last iterations of the dump file. So for example, there is dump.pcap.1, dump.pcap.2, dump.pcap.3, dump.pcap.4 and dump.pcap.5. I'd like the script to look at the datestamps and delete dump.pcap.1 and dump.pcap2 since the other three are the three newest files. comparing files based on dump.pcap.*, check the dates and only keep the three 'youngest' files?

I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.

Because the exchange plugin didn't work i uninstalled evolution and removed the ppa. Now when i try to install evolution from the software centre i get this: Package dependencies cannot be resolved This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

At home I'm using a standard WPA secured Network, and all is running smooth and well, and I use Evolution 95% of the time im online (Gmail IMAP account)...and all goes great.
However, my school runs one of those WEP TTLS secured networks.
And all works great there too, except for one annoying thing:
As I mentioned I used Evolution mainly to organise meetings and send invites. But when I open Evolution it tries to connect to Gmail...and it is almost as if it cant get to the host.
It won't shut down unless I kill the app, thats not what i want to do.
My question is, is this a problem between TTLS and Evolution somehow, or is it IMAP from Gmail and TTLS...and for the one it is, how do I fix it?

I could download all the packages for updates.But when I try to connect to internet via Firefox, or by evolution or other software,I am unable to connect.The configuration of the ethernet card is proper as I checked that via terminal window.It is a peculiar problem, where I can download update pakages but unable to connect via browser or email client.when I ping to ubuntu.com is shows it is healthy and successful.I have a Acer dual core laptop, and connect to internet via wired lan .
