I am running my PC and laptop on Ubuntu Lucid, and my netbook on Ubuntu Lucid Netbook Remix. I would like to synchronise my Evolution calendar and task list between the three machines. First step would be to get calendar and task content o my PC onto the other two machines. Is this possible (e.g. via Ubuntu one), and if so, how?
View 2 RepliesThe issue I am having is that I cannot sync my Yahoo calendar using CalDAV in Evolution. The problem is that the link to the Yahoo CalDAV calendar is [URL], and in Evolution, it keeps inserting 'caldav://' at the beginning of the link when you click OK when setting up the calendar.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been struggling to set up and learn to use an efficient way of task & event management. At the moment, I use Thunderbird+Lightning with Gmail (IMAP) and it works OK. I would like to add a smartphone to the equation - I know it isn't cheap and I'm expecting to pay anywhere between $100 and $500 for one - since my old phone is slowly dying anyway and I need this to work for... well, work. I would like to be able to synchronize through bluetooth or wireless at home or whenever the phone gets near my laptop, as well as (if possible) whenever the phone gets near a wireless access point. I don't want to use 3g or any similar services. I have had no luck googling so far.
I have tried synchronizing with Google Calendar, only to be disappointed by the fact that it doesn't support tasks. I think the distinction between tasks and events is an important one and it keeps my calendar organized, so I'd hate to have to give it up. I haven't chosen a phone yet, so I can adjust my choice to whichever brand or type (or OS) is best suited for what I need.
I am thinking of installing a Linux mail server and use it for my company. We are about 3 people that using emails and i do not want do spend a significant amount to get an exchange server. However, i need a mail server that i will be able to get the functionality that exchange server provides such as emails (to my mobile, web access, and using outlook client), calendar, tasks and contacts. Can you reccomend me which Linux mail server should i use for all the above functionality?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Ubuntu 9.04 on my desktop PC running Evolution. I would like to be able to access the Calendar on my laptop running Xubuntu 9.10, also using Evolution. Can I specify to store the Ubuntu Evolution Calendar in a shared folder & access that from Xubuntu Evolution? In that case, how do I specify the calendar file locations for each installation? Is there a better way of achieving a calendar shared between the two machines?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was able to connect my Evolution to our Exchange Server 2003.I'm able to get my mail and calendar.When I add a second email account, I can get the mail, but if I try to show the calendar for the second email account, it only duplicates the entries from the original account and doesn't show anything that is on the second account's calendar.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Fedora today after trying various Linux Distributions. The only other one I really used for a longer time was ubuntu. So, theres an application for syncing Evolution with my Palm (Tungsten E2) which is called gnome-pilot. I set it up, but in contrast to ubuntu, I can't sync my Contacts and calendar with fedora. THe only things I can chose are shown on the screenshot below.
Is there any way to make my palm also sync its calendar (like it perfectly worked in ubuntu) ?
Edit: I was too stupid to search for "Gnome-Pilot" in the packet manager. Because if I did, i would have found "Additional conduits" which allows me to do that
In Evolution, suddenly something went wrong, and one of the Calendars (my personal calendar, i have two more) doesn't appear any more. I cannot select it either; when I try to select it, the tick appears for a second (less actually) and disappears again, and the elements on dates don't even appear in that time.
So I tried something to see if something else was going on; I tried to copy the Calendar (right click and Copy..) and I can do it with every Calendar but that one, because a message comes up "Could not open source". Also I've noticed when making right click on it, the "Delete" option is greyed out, not available.
I can see no easy way to launch the calendar from within evolution. In previous versions there were buttons to switch between email, contacts & calendar, now there's only a button to launch contacts from within email. The only solution I've found is to search for Evolution Contacts within Applications, and then I can see no way to pin it to the launcher.
View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently installed 10.10 netbook edition, and evolution is behaving strangely. Albeit I've never used it before, but having read the documentation and googled it a bit I'm still lost. I cannot create or manage task lists. It's as if their functionality has been completely cut out of ev calendar. When I try to go to File->New->Task List, the Task list option does not appear in the menu (not greyed out, nothing). Can't find the button that's supposed to be there either. I've also checked synaptic for evolution task packages, but no avail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Evolution in Gnome 3 and I'm having this rather annoying issue---whenever I make a new Task, it does NOT show up in the Tasks bar. Even if I try searching for it, the task doesn't show up (even making a new Task List doesn't show up), which makes me think it was never saved properly in the first place. I also tried seeing if there was any sort of error while running Evolution by opening it via the terminal, but I don't get anything. Does anyone else have this issue? Is this a known bug with Evolution
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I found that the majority of my tasks on Evolution (2.28.3) had just disappeared. I last did a backup of my system 2 weeks ago but in that time important data has been added to my tasks lists on Evolution. I've read around and found that the problem may be fixed by rebuilding evolution-data-server (see here). However, if this means re-compiling evolution-data-server from the package manager, well, I don't seem to keen on doing that unless I can get confirmation of how to implement it, i.e. how do I rebuild evolution-data-server?

I know it's possible to import .ics files into evolution, but our timetables are updated daily so I would have to import a new .ics file everyday.
Since upgrading to 10.10 when switching to evolution calendar, my Netbook freezes, completely. Not just the calendar, but the whole interface and I must shut the machine off to escape. I use the Gnome desktop (not the silly netbook one . I can't find any other references to this in the forums, does any one know if this is a known bug? or there is a fix? it isn't listed in the sticky at the top of the general forum.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried to import my calendar from an Outlook 2010 .pst file twice and have had the same error both times. Appointments import successfully, but the start time (and end time) is advanced by 8 hours. For example, an appointment in Outlook with the correct start time of 12:30pm appears in Evolution with a start time of 8:30pm. I have confirmed that my system time and time zone are identical and correct in WinXP/Outlook and Ubuntu/Evolution.

I understood that it was supposed to automatically do this, is this correct?We are using exchange 2005 I believe, so wonder if this is specifically the issue.

Evolution adds my own calendar just fine but I don't know how to add the extra one.
I know that in Outlook you can select "Add shared calendar" but I can't find this option in Evolution.
I reinstalled 11.2 yesterday (wiped / and kept /home). Now when I launch Evolution, it asks me to either create a new account, or to load an archive (which I don't think I have).Why can't it find my mails and calendar? It looks to me like everything is present in the .evolution folder in my home.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhere do I look to change the calendar preference in Gnome Shell from Evolution to Osmo? I have uninstalled Evolution and installed Osmo. I have looked in all of the settings available in System Settings, Tweak Advanced Settings, Alacarte, and Configuration Editor (gconf-editor), but I am obviously overlooking something.
Is it safe to delete all references to evolution when I find them in gconf-editor? I assume I would have to do that as root since it does not seem like trying to do so as a regular user works.
What I want to do is when I click on the date/time on the top bar and select "Open Calendar", Osmo will open. Right now I just get a message: "Execution of 'evolution' failed: command not found." Of course it would fail since I removed evolution. However, I can't seem to find out where to change it to look for Osmo instead.
Evolution has balked at every webaddress I've thrown at it: Example: Code: Could not connect to imap.google.com (port imaps): Host lookup failed: imap.google.com: Name or service not known same thing happened for smtp as well as the canonical names provided by nslookup.
I was able to succeed in connecting my email finally by using the IP provided by nslookup, but still am unable to get my google Calendar to connect: Code: Cannot open calendar: Unexpected HTTP status code 2 returned (Cannot resolve hostname (www.google.com)) No proxy settings configured in Evolution or Fedora and none needed. Lemme know what else I can provide.
I have a few servers that are exposed to the internet. When someone tried to brute force hack in to the ssh, ossec adds their IP to the hosts.deny. Then the hacker (read: script kiddie) moves to the next IP up the line and hits my next server, etc, etc.
I end up getting 20 emails for all the servers that they hit.
My question, is there anyway to sync the hosts.deny file across multiple servers so that if they are locked out of one, they are locked out of all?
I know there are syncing problems with Ubuntu One at the moment, but one of my computers is absolutely fine and another one just won't have anything to do with Ubuntu One contact sync. This is the last part of my desktop couch replication log -
