View 6 RepliesI have a ZTE MF100 3G internet USB modem working fine under ubuntu 10.04 but, there is a little problem:-It does connect in 2 modes: 2G and 3G. If 3G signal is fairly strong, downloading speed reaches 200 KB/s for 600 MB/Day, then for the rest of the day it switches to 2G mode with 15 KB/s max downloading speed. If 3G signal is weak, it switches automatically to 2G, and that's what I hate. Under Windows, I can manually force the modem to connect in 3G mode even if the signal is weak.

I use Wavecom Fastrack wm20392 as my GSM Modem with serial cable connectivity.
Ist column shows different customers( like N customers are there) , they require different bandwidht links based on some resolution time will be generated and we have to fix this line with in this resolution time , if not before 1 hr for each customer , this has to genetate some alarm and send the SMS to the particular mobile numbers.everythig is there in the GUI like customer , how much BW they want and what is the time duration , only thing we have to do is ,, linking with the GUi and writing some code to send the generated alarms to the mobile numbers specified.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBit of an odd one this. My ZTE MF100 (on O2) had been working happily on my 10.04 laptop, but today is not recognised - e.g. no device listed by lsusb, nor error messages in dmesg at boot.
Re-plugging the device after boot gives me dmesg errors:

I can't see any suspicious entries in /var/log/dpkg, but I'm attaching a copy of the recent anyway, along with output for lsusb -vv.

find and install modem driver for the Alcatel X200 USB modem?
I've been all over the internet trying to locate Linux drivers but no success. Alcatel's website says is not supported, only in Windows. I'm sure there's gotta be a way to use the X200 in Linux.
I have a ZTE MF112 mobile broadband modem, which comes with Windows drivers and software. This software allows not only connect to Internet, but also send SMS and place calls (as in you dial number in program and when you're connected, sound goes through the sound card). As far as I know, almost any USB mobile modem comes with application to send SMS via its GSM connection. Now the question is - is there any vendor-independent software that runs under Linux and allows you to use your mobile broadband modem to turn your PC into larger mobile phone? I want at least to be able to send and receive SMS using PC + mobile modem.

I just got connected to Charter Cable Internet service a few days ago and I'm having a weird problem with my home network. Prior to this my network worked fine. On my network I have a desktop running Ubuntu 9.10/64 and Virtualbox with WinXP installed, an HTPC with Ubuntu 9.10/32 installed and a laptop dual booted with Ubuntu 9.10/32 and WinXP. The desktop and HTPC are hard wired to a wireless router and the laptop is wireless. The cable modem is hard wired to the router. I have samba installed and UFW is disabled. The problem is: with the cable modem turned off or on standby, all machines connect to each other and can transfer files, etc just fine but when I activate the cable modem all of the machines can connect to the Internet but the machines running Ubuntu can't connect to each other on the home network. If I boot the laptop into Windows, it can connect to the Linux machines just fine but if I boot it into Linux, it won't connect to the Linux machines but it can connect to the Internet and as far as the desktop, Ubuntu won't connect to the network but Windows running in the Virtualbox with bridged networking can connect to all of the machines.

I can't get it to work in ubuntu 9.10. I ran wvdial (after installing dependencies and wvdial package) and it doesn't recognize my device as a modem. Is there any solution to this problem? Without solving it, I won't be able to go online from ubuntu.
I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 (Kubuntu) and have a LG Arena (KM900) smartphone which when plugged into the USB socket and I select the iSync option on the phone, the handset is correctly identified as a Mobile Broadband device in Ubuntu network manager. However, I'm having difficulty getting Ubuntu to connect to T-Mobile through the 3G modem. I've referenced [URL] and[URL] and I can not connect. I'm assuming that this is something to do with Mobile Broadband settings I'm using:

I moved from Debian to Ubuntu a few months ago, with everything working fine, except my 3G modem (which worked with wvdial and umtsmon in Debian).
The packaging claims that it is a Huawei E160, but lsusb says different: E220 (12d1:1003).
I've followed various instructions from these forums and the wiki, and it seems to be being recognised as a modem (I can set up an O2 prepaid (UK) connection), but it refuses to connect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 11.04 on an external USB drive on a Dell D630 laptop.
My issue is I can't get my 3G modem to work. It is a K3770 Huawei modem.
When I plug it in after boot up it is not recognized at all as far as I can tell. (Which is not very far).
When I plug it in before boot up it shows up as a CD rom drive. I have usb-modeswitch is installed. (It was installed by default during the 11.04 installation.)
what to do to get this to work? Remember my Ubuntu is running on an external USB drive so anything that switches USB off even temporarily won't work. (I don't think).
