Ubuntu Networking :: Asus USB-N13 Not Showing As Active But Is Detected

Apr 30, 2010

I recently purchased an Asus USB-N13 and am having some trouble getting it setup. I have followed this post [URL] including downloading the driver version, but I am now a little stuck. This is a laptop which used to have a Netgear Wg111v2 wireless USB adapter (laptop does not have internal wireless). That adapter died so I purchased the Asus. The day I purchased the Asus adapter they were both plugged in at the same time for a short period - not sure if that is relevant or not but just thought I should let you know. Here is some output from various commands:

lspci

Code:

ron@ron-laptop:~$ lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82855PM Processor to I/O Controller (rev 21)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82855PM Processor to AGP Controller (rev 21)

[code]....

I have restarted a couple of times with it plugged in and with it not plugged. At no time does it show in the Network Manager aplet.

Security :: Active Connections Showing In Firestarter 1.0.3?

Feb 26, 2010

I am running Firestarter on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit. I have noticed several times that after closing all web apps (Firefox, Thunderbird) that some entries remain under the heading "Active connections" on the Firestarter "Status" tab. Often these show no source program. Currently I have 2 showing which show Firefox as the source. These persist after Firefox is shut down. I have verified that no Firfox process is running. And both of the IPs point to google.I have Disconnected eht0 and they still show. I have logged out and back in and they still show. I must reboot the machine to make these entries go away. Which makes me think perhaps this is a bug in Firestarter(?) Is there another way I can identify truly active connections?

CentOS 5 Hardware :: Atheros NIC On ASUS P5ql Pro Not Detected?

Mar 3, 2010

Just installed CentOS 5.1 and it's not detecting my NIC. ifconfig produces nothing for eth0. This is a xen kernel.

I can't tell exactly what NIC this motherboard uses, the ASUS website doesn't seem to think we need to know anything more than that it's a PCIe Gigabit lan:

lspci indicates it's an Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114.

Hardware :: Onboard Audio Device Not Detected For ASUS P4S533 MB?

Mar 16, 2010

I recently installed Arch Linux on an old desktop machine. Everything works well except the onboard audio isn't detected at all.

I am using the 2.6.32-ARCH kernel

My lspci output is:

Code:
# lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS645DX Host & Memory & AGP Controller
00:01.0 PCI bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] Virtual PCI-to-PCI bridge (AGP)

[Code]....

On another note, the manufacturer (ASUS) actually provides Linux audio drivers for my motherboard (model: P4S533). I attempted to install them, but the configuration process involves using make menuconfig, make xconfig, or make config to add the drivers to the kernel (I think) and I'm still a relatively new Linux user and had no clue what I was doing.

Debian :: 8.1 Second Monitor Is Detected But Only Showing Black Screen

Jul 30, 2015

I've recently installed Debian v8.1 and installed Nvidia driver 340.46. In nvidia-settings I am able to enable my second monitor and enable it/set it's position..etc. My second monitor is not being detected in Debian Display and is 'on' but only showing a black screen. I've tried researching and implementing various 'fixes', but I'm not having any luck.

I'm running dual GTX 570's with a monitor plugged into one each (DVI). I noticed in my xorg.conf under Section "Screen" I have an option "MultiGPU" "Off"; would this be part of the issue?

I've tried:
- purging all nvidia drivers and re-installing
- installing different versions of nvidia drivers
- add nomodeset in grub

Fedora Hardware :: Raid Not Detected - Only Showing Seperate Drives / Fix It?

Jan 6, 2010

I recently installed Fedora 12 for use with Amahi HDA. Before installing on the Hard drive I used the LIVE CD to test it out. While using the LIVE CD I could see all my HDD's. My file system, my 2nd Hard Drive, and my Raid 0 Configuration. (2 250GB drives) and could browse all my files on those drives.

After installing the full version on my hard drive, my RAID drives are showing up as seperate drives. I have a Asus P4P800 board using hte SATA raid. I know its FAKERaid and not a true hardware raid.

My goal is to restore the Raid in Fedora and make those drives active. However, i dont want to lose any of the data on those drives. To make sure I wasn't an idiot, i rebooted withthe LIVE CD again and verified that I could see the Raid Array.

Ubuntu Servers :: MySQL - Setup An Active / Active Load Balanced And High Available?

Mar 11, 2011

how to setup an Active/Active Load Balanced and High Available (If one of the nodes is down the system still runs) MySQL cluster. I have found quite a few howto's but I have some things unclear in my mind. I found a few solutions like this one: [URL] or this: [URK] Those are using two or four MySQL nodes, two Load Balancers to avoid a single point of failure but only one MySQL cluster management server. What happens if the MySQL cluster management fails?

I have also found a "MySQL Master-Master Circular Replication" technique but from what I read, with this option there is a chance that conflicts will arise if node A and node B both insert an auto-incrementing key on the same table.

Ubuntu Networking :: Getting ASUS USB N-13 Up To Speed?

Dec 26, 2010

I have hesitated posting this because there are a number of threads on the Asus USB N-13.First let me point out that I am using this device. It worked out of the box in Ubuntu 10.10 after several reinstalls using the native Ubuntu driver. However my speed is stuck at 54Mb/s.When tested on a Win7 machine, the connection speed is much closer to 300Mb/s.In wading through the other threads, I am unable to find anyone who has this adaptor running at N speed in Ubuntu 10.10.I have downloaded the latest ASUS driver for LInux but have not installed it as my previous attempts at doing this failed miserably and each time necessitating an OS reinstall.I am an experienced Windows user but a rank newbie when it comes to Ubuntu. Ubuntu Networking :: Setting Up Asus N13 In 11.04?

Aug 27, 2011

I'm not the greatest with linux in general, I mean I know my way around it okay but theres still a ton to learn, and 11.04 is the first version to work on my custom PC without messing up after I update it so I'm left with natty. Anyway I bought my PC with an Asus U8B-N13 Wireless adapter. The disc it came with has the program to install the drivers in Windows, Mac, and Linux, but the Linux drivers need to be compile and I'm yet to have luck doing so. I've tried to somewhat follow an older guide here: [URL].. but I made it as far as extracting the .tgz, then running the make command and got a couple errors. Here is that attempt:

Ubuntu Networking :: Asus EEE PC 901 And Desktop Remix 10.10?

Nov 4, 2010

I have an Asus EEE PC 901 from a few years ago with an integrated wireless card (touted as the "integrated Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965 AGN LAN chip" on the website). I am running Ubuntu's Desktop remix 10.10.

My computer connects fine to any given wireless network the first time around, but will not connect to it again.

After I disconnect from a network, every time I try to connect again, it continually asks for the password, and never fully connects, but will spend about 20 minutes trying and asking for the password and trying again.

Sometimes, it will say it is connected (100% strength) but will never load the google start page. This will last about 2 minutes, then it will disconnect, and start the never-ending connection process again.

Ubuntu Networking :: ASUS USB-N13 Fails To Communicate?

Dec 5, 2010

Chili555 where are you?

I am running Ubuntu Release 10.04 (lucid), Kernel Linux 2.6.32-26-generic-pae, GNOME 2.30.2.

I have installed the ASUS USB-N13 according to your advice in previous posts, specifically, in your advice to 828688 Ben.

The dongle seems to be operating as it should. The LED does its flashing at what appears to be the correct time. Wicd also looks correct. Networks are found with good signals shown. Everything looks correct. But when I attempt to connect, "validating authentication" runs for quite some time, and eventually results in a dialogue window stating the communication failed. The required WEP password is entered in the RT2870STA.dat file, and again in the wicd window.

I have entered as much detail in the RT2870STA.dat file as I dare, and believe it to be correct.

ndiswrapper is not installed. Network Manager is uninstalled. Only wicd remains.

Ubuntu Networking :: Asus N10 Wireless Usb Adapter On 10.04 LTS

Jul 26, 2011

I recently purchased an Asus n10 wireless usb adapter to use with my media server, running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx). After spending several hours today with many of the threads (especially this one about the Asus n13) it seems that I've run out of ideas.

My network is running a hidden (non-broadcast) SSID ("Potato") with wpa2 personal encryption.

Here is the relevant information from lsusb:

Code:
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0b05:1786 ASUSTek Computer Inc.

Iwconfig follows. The rest of the values, like link quality & etc, are all zero:

Code:
wlan0 802.11b/g ESSID:"Potato"
Mode: Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Bit Rate: 0kb/s

And the kicker is that the interface doesn't seem to be available, despite the above reports. ifconfig wlan0 up produces:

Code:
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Resource temporarily unavailable

i rebooted just for shits and giggles, cuz it still didnt work. no dice. then i tried to check in that section that shows drivers that arent allowed in a default install as per another thread. its not in there.

my situation doesnt let me connect this netbook via wire and the only way i can get software for it is to download it via my ubuntu connection on my laptop.
