When i got to a site such as You Tube of South Park Studios the vidio playes fine but the pause, play , fullscreen ect... Buttons dont work unless it click on them multiple times!

The problem is that none of the video players doesn't play video, they show only black window and play audio.
I have Fedora 11 Leonidas, fully up-to-date.
I have installed rpmfusion and livna repository.
I have installed following packages:
When I try to play video with totem, it doesn't output any error, but just doesn't play video.
with mplayer:
xine and kaffeine just say:

I tried several different files, which works perfectly in windows and ubuntu.
I installed windows binary codecs for mplayer to /usr/lib/codec/
I updated Lucid yesterday, and when I restarted the user interface was changed to a more simple feeling display. This makes me think I'm stuck in a "basic" mode or something. I attached a screen shot, but to give you an idea ill describe some issues. For one thing the minimize buttons are now on the right. The volume control, which used to appear on the top right of the screen, is gone and my multimedia volume control buttons on my Inspiron 1420 no longer work. Furthermore, the command terminal is now white and the keyboard shortcuts for copy and past don't work.
Immediately after updating I also got an error message at login (which also appears different and gives options on bottom of screen like gnome Failsafe) which said something like "gnome default power management installed incorrectly...". I followed the advice of a forum thread that involved the purge command and that seemed to remedy that message.

I can't get this video to play in Chromium or Firefox when using Ubuntu. I logged into Windows XP and the video plays fine. Back to Ubuntu and I can't get it to play. all are Plugins Enabled (e.g., Flash).
running kubuntu 9.10 karmic koala, and my sound settings -at first glance- seem to be in order... a strange thing is occurring, is my machine haunted? my sound works when:
a. the machine boots up
b. files are played in dragon player
c. the machine shuts down
my sound does not work when:
1. i try to play streaming flash videos online (e.g. videos videos show the image but no sound will play)
2. the same goes for vlc media player: images yes, sound no.
3. i use skype *edit: additional problem*
i made no changes, that i know of, to my machine before this started happening. one day everything was working fine and i turned off my machine to go to sleep. the next day, i turn on my machine, and surprise, the sound doesn't work in some instances.
neither Mplayer, VLC or SMPlayer can play an .avi i have. and they won't download the codecs needed.look> should i manually download codecs from somewhere?or shift to a new player maybe?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI used Openshot to produce a slideshow, and K3b to burn a DVD with the output from Openshot which is a .vob file.
The DVD plays on my new model, cheap Samsung DVD player. It comes up on the TV screen listed as an MPG. I hit play, it plays fine.
But on other peoples older DVD players it says NO DISK. It will not play.
Is there a way to take the .vob file I produced with Openshot and convert it or something so when K3b burns it to a DVD it will play on older DVD players?
Maybe vob can be converted into something, then burned with k3b so the resulting DVD is compatible with more, older DVD players??
i tried to play videos with 3 players, while trying to move the player's window or go to full screen ubuntu crashes.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem playing MIDI files on my system: I tried opening two MIDI files in Audacious, VLC, Aqualung and Rhythmbox, and Rhythmbox is the only one that will play them:
- Audacious crashes when clicking on the file in the playlist (immediately disappears)
- Aqualung doesn't add them to its playlist
- VLC produces an error msg saying it can't play MIDI
- Rhythmbox plays a MIDI file and immediately crashes at its end
I'm on Ubuntu Karmic 64 and have timidity installed.
I have tried the fix * Hit ALT+F2 and enter
* gksudo gedit /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer
* add the following line BEFORE the last line of text
* export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1
But I DONT have that file. I have searched for hours and hours. I can rightclick on the player and get to its options, but left clicking doesnt work

However trying to play them with banshee it doesn't work and it pops up a dialog asking whether I want to search for a suitable codec (which also doesn't work).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't play movies when I have browsers open. I am not sure if it is the browser, or what. I ran totem, and vlc in a terminal, and it says insufficient resources when I try to open a movie (see snapshot).
I also took a snapshot of my system monitor. I am not sure what resources it is talking about?
so yeah i've seen threads on getting flash installed, and it appears to be installed. videos videos play and all that jazz. you got to adobe's webpage and it says i have the latest released version installed.
problem is i can't click on any of the buttons in the videos. like in ..... i can't click pause, change the video resolution, or move the bar to fast forward or rewind. i'm kind of at a loss cause it is installed, and reinstalling doesn't do anything in ff. i mean if i uninstall videos don't play, and if i reinstall they play. still can't click on anything though. edit:also it does work just in ..... if i get the new interface. it won't work in the old interface.

There is no sound when I play a movie. The only mediaplayer that plays the audio is kaffeine. Amarok plays MP3 just fine. All the rest does not. Not vlc, (s)mplayer. An avi,mp3 or mkv file it does not matter. I have installed all restricted codecs but I had to doe it 2 times, the first time I did it the 1click method, but the installation what's interrupted.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Ubuntu 9.10 dual booted with XP on a laptop. Whenever I try to play any video files, even just bog standard avi files, the media player just shuts down and disappears. This has happened with the movie player that comes with the OS as well as VLC. I also tried out Dragon Player and the files seem to load up and when played the timeline slider just skips across to the end in about 5 seconds but no picture is shown during this time. The codecs all appear to be installed fine even though I know that VLC doesn't require them. My video card is ATI and I know that it works fine as these files play alright when booted up into XP, Hi-Def included.

My PC - intel i3, integrated 4500 vga and 4GB RAM, Ubuntu 11.04 64bit. CPU usage is around 30-70% and disk load is low.
Typical performance tweaks like "skip loops - all" and read buffer size doesn't affect current condition. In Ubuntu 10.10 everything worked flawlessly.
PS. whether 4500 gpu acceleration should work in Ubuntu 11.04 by default? I can't set it up...

But when In try to play online .wmv files, it says The Plugin is Missing! I usually watch TV online but its not working. Does anyone know of any precompiled rpms for 11.3 (or tips for building on opensuse). I've installed Hellgasts xvba-video-amd rpms from the build service. It's more easy to install and maintain some services then make suse play video. I'm going crazy when every player says to me that it doesn't contain any codecs. I heard i'ts all about licensing.. So, why doesn't Ubuntu havn't any problem to play my mp4 and other video formats just from the box?My case is regular.. No way to play mp4 in totem,banshee,xine no h264 decoder.

Anyone else struggling to play iplayer video? I've got the proprietary Flash plugin, which means it's probably not this "SWF Authentication" thing that there's been so much talk about.
I've rebooted, tried all sorts of tinkering, it loads the applet (I can see that Flash is loading OK because other things work, and right clicking on the applet gives the Flash menu)
However, clicking the play button does nothing.
I just installed ETQW 1.5 (Linux version), the game installed fine but strangely enough the 'Play Online' button is grayed out and therefor I can't play online. Anyone else who encountered this problem? Is there a solution?

I'm using ubuntu 8.04, and when I load some things, like some games, it tells me I need flash player 10. I have downloaded it multiple times and installed it multiple times but nothing is working as it should. Is it because I'm still on 8.04?
