Ubuntu Multimedia :: Finding A Slideshow Maker For A Webpage?
Feb 24, 2011
recommend a good slideshow maker that'll make great slide shows to be used on a web page?I need a slideshow maker that resides on my computer and not a web based one.
I want to write Bourne-shell script that will be to do finding and replacement in any web page code (.htm file) name of the tied folder in which have been saved pictures, .css, .js and other files. This folder create a web browser when we save web page completely and has so name as web page and has ending '_files'. I have many web pages where name of their folder are incorrect. Of course, my web browser shows these web pages without pictures. I can count amount of web pages in a folder (/path) needed for me.
1) find /path -type f -name "*.htm*" -print | grep -c .htm or find /path -type f -name *.htm | wc -l I can get list of web pages.
2) ls /path *.htm > out-list But I don't know how to assign the value from out-list (2) or result commands from pipeline (1) to a variable. Then I want to do next:
3)
var="1" # where variable 'list' is an amount of web pages while [ $var -le $list ]
[code]....
4)assign the 1st (then 2nd , etc. ) value from out-list (2) to variable 'webfile' sed -n $var,+0p out-spisok
5)find the 1st string value '_files' in the 'webfile' grep -m1 _files $webfile
6)For example, 'abracadabra_files' is an incorrect folder in the 'webfile' I must to know start and end position 'abracadabra' without ending '_files', "cut" name of the incorrect folder and assign it to the variable 'finder' finder = 'abracadabra' BTW, name of a folder before '_files' is between '="' and '_files' in any web page code.
7)foldernew = $webfile (without '.htm')' foldernew' is equal with name of the tied folder without ending '_files' in the folder '/path'
8)find and replace in the 'webfile' and save result in the 'webfile-out'sed s/$finder/$foldernew/g $webfile > $webfile-out
I have a few things working now, so all I need to know is a good way to record the music you play from Virtual Keyboard. I've tried Audacity to do this, but it never works correctly.
my dad is wanting me to make a slideshow for him. all it has to be is just a different picture every 4 or 5 seconds, with captions in-between them. i remember i could very easily do this with windows movie maker, but is there a program for ubuntu that i could use that is the same?
I just installed ubuntu 10.10 in a VM and went to change my desktop to something less boring and brown. I see in the desktop wallpaper program that there are certain photos that are in clusters (like you can click the photo and the next photo will come up and so forth). If I set my desktop to this cluster of sorts will it show me the photos sequentially or will it just stick to the first one. If not, is there a way to show this cluster sequentially in my background where it would change say, every minute or so?
I have Squeeze running gnome well.It connect to my WFI AP automatically.I installed window maker yesterday .After I enter the window maker desktop, I found no internet connection.I run a network tool shortcut in th eapplication menu. This program is the same of my gnome desktop.I change the setting to make it automatically connect to my AP but in vain.
I was asked to make a slideshow of a series of JPEGs; I found the programme "imagination" that is available as an .rpm and I installed it with YaST;it worked well and I produced a couple of straightforward .vob files that could be started from a DVD player connected to a TV; (the intention);I would need to restart YaST to check; but I guess imagination is on packman It has a GU interface and worked well for me.
I have done this in the past with little effort using a easy to use GUI picture editor. Now I can seem to find the function in any program I have installed. I have digikam, fspot and gthumb image viewer. I am now not sure if I lost the program that I had been using in an update or if I am just looking in the wrong place.
In short, can someone suggest a simple way to group together jeps as a video with audio in the background. I want to be able to upload these to ......
I have a file server running Ubuntu Server. No monitor or input hooked up...I just ssh into it for maintanance. I use it to store all of my music and video files. I was watching Hulu at work today and thought it would be nice if I could somehow stream or play my files from my file server while I was at work.
I have apache set up so I can serve websites from it so I was thinking if I could some how select the file to play and it play it in an embedded player, that would be fine. I'd like it to play music and videos.
Is there any way of going about this? I have minimal HTML experience, but I have extensive C/C++ experience and server experience. So I'm comfortable using some open source libraries to accomplish this.
I'm using Ubuntu 64bit 10.04 with FireFox and every video I've tried online has worked except the bp.com's oil gusher video streams. Does any one know what plugins to install to make this work?
I listen to a radio show that broadcasts online a lot named ChatterBox Video Game Radio, and when i e-mailed one of the hosts about retrieving archived shows since the site didn't have any archiving of old shows or a link to it. Alon was nice enough to send me one of their old web pages with a HUGE list of archives but it's only the xml source code of the page. since the page isn't live of course, and because of the how he had to send me the code for the page and not a hyperlink to the page, i have the source code. now going through the source code of the page he emailed to me, i can find links to .mp3 files and i can open them and listen to the shows in web browsers, but i was hoping to save them to my computer forfuturelistening.URL]ww.chatterbox'ssite.com/whatever/anotherfolder/showiwanttosave.mp3 in firefox quicktime comes in and lets me listen (as long as my internet connection is active) but wont enable me to save because i dont have the pro version of quicktime. quicktime is good, but i dont use it enough to actually buy the product, and i'm not going to buy the product for just a one time use. is there another way to where i can save this file using the address from the source code (and the ChatterBox allows listeners to save their shows to computer for free, so it not some work around to rob them of money. i fully support them) without having to buy quicktime 7 pro(a product i never really use)?
I'm trying to open a webpage which contains a quicktime stream in firefox 3.6.0 Some of my friends are viewing the stream correctly in ubuntu, but I'm getting this error:
Kernel 3.13.0-65-generic (i686) Intel 945G video card Xubuntu 14.04.3 with XFCE 4.10 Firefox 41.0.1 Google Chrome 45.0.2454.101 Dell generic usb mouse
I cannot copy a portion of an entire webpage using Google Chrome or Firefox when copying downwards.
Upwards works.
I've have this issue on the same machine with the following systems:
Debian 8 Jessie XFCe with XFCE 4.10 using Firefox or Google Chrome Xubuntu 14.04 with XFCE 4.10 and 4.12 using Firefox or Google Chrome Xubuntu 12.04 live cd using Firefox
This doesn't happen on the same machine with the following systems:
Debian 8 Jessie KDE using Firefox or Google Chrome Kubuntu 15.04 live DVD using Firefox LibreOffice Writer LibreOffice Calc Mousepad
[URL]
Ex. Go to google.com and paste this in the search area:
can highlight by going upwards but not downwards xfce My mouse can highlight the first line starting with the word "ssh" and the last line ending with the word "everything ..."
My mouse cursor cannot go past the last line "expressions can match many items, but evidently not everything ..."
If I scroll upward, I can copy the entire webpage.
KDE 4.x I don't have this issue.
Using Win7 on a laptop with Firefox 41.0.2 and I'm able to scroll downwards without any issues using the same mouse that was connected to the machine with Xubuntu 14.04.
Sometimes I come across fixes for linux issues on websites. I copy the information and email it to myself for future reference in case I have to reinstall the OS again. I can do a ctrl A and ctrl c but then the entire website is copied. The ads on the side, etc.
If I put my left mouse cursor on the first word in a thread and drag/highlight downwards, my mouse cursor stops line 35 on the page. If I do the same thing but backwards, my mouse cursor goes all the way up the page. This only happens on Firefox and Google Chrome. This doesnt' happen with mousepad, Libre writer or Libre calc.

I tried remastersys, but has to install graphical stuff for the ubiquity. I don't need an installer, nor any gui packages. Is there another good automated program or script that works great for making compact text/console only installs?
I'm seeking a program to effectively create a slideshow/movie of pictures with the possibility of adding audio tracks to the slideshow. The reason I call this slideshow is that I will entirely use static pictures instead of video.Transition effects would be cool and subtitling, too, but not a must.
A good app that would allow me to select some pics (like of the Christchurch earthquake) that would make up a slideshow for a desktop background, instead of a static pic? I know Mac's have the ability to do this, and am curious as to what is available for Ubuntu.
I'm looking for a script to automatically open and play a PDF slideshow. The slideshow is saved in PDF format using powerpoint. Are there any good programs out there that I can use to play a pdf slideshow.
We tried to implement this while in its original PPT format but there are just too many issues. Here is the original script I wrote to open the PPT file using pptviewer
Then using cron, the scripts are run at the appropriate times. Basically I am just looking for a program that will play a PDF as a slideshow. I will use OpenOffice if I can but I would rather not because we have had problems with it. Plus im not sure how to run it from terminal.
I'm using 10.10. The FSpot and Shotwell programs that came with 10.10 don't seem to have any good controls for adjusting slide show display of photos. Could anyone recommend a good photo slide show display program that allows one to adjust pan, display time, smooth transitions, etc.
I have started using linux again and the programme that used to come with Suse back in 2003 was called "open office" since this is 2011 and im now using Ubuntu which suits me much better I need a word processor that can support .doc or create files that I can then open and edit with Microsoft word in university. Is there any word processor out there that sounds like what im looking for?
Lastly I also need atleast a PPT viewer to see my lecture slides and a program that can make powerpoint presentations or can be used and edited with Powerpoint would be great for my presentation work.
In F-Spot there's this nice function that shows a slideshow of all your photos as a screensaver. Since I've abandoned F-Spot in favor of Digikam URL...I was wondering if there is a way to do something similar in Digikam.
Well I use Shotwell Photo manager for all my photos and I love the app but I can't comment on the photo for a slideshow. So I want to put around 300 or so photos in a slideshow and put comments on them but I dont want to import each photo individualo to OO presenter.
