Feb 9, 2011my dad is wanting me to make a slideshow for him. all it has to be is just a different picture every 4 or 5 seconds, with captions in-between them. i remember i could very easily do this with windows movie maker, but is there a program for ubuntu that i could use that is the same?

Jun 28, 2010When I was using Windows, I would take notes in class on Windows Journal with my tablet. Now that Ubuntu 10.10 supports all my hardware out of the box,I'm planning on using that, but I'm looking for a good replacement for Windows Journal. I don't need compatibility with Windows, but I do need to be able to save and load the notes. Handwriting recognition isn't needed or really wanted, I just use it to draw graphs, formulas, and musical notation for various classes.I love Tomboy, if there's a version that supports touch, I'd love it, but really any app that allows me to draw sometimes and type sometimes and easily switch between the two.

Amarok - Crashes all the time, and keeps saying it can't play mp3s. Used to love this app, but seems broken for me now. Even if I reinstall it.
Rhythmbox - Great, but reports the wrong bitrate on all my songs. It is very important for me to know the correct bitrate for uploading to certain sites.
Audacious - Way to simple and winamp like.
Bangarang - No.
Ubuntu Multimedia :: Using A Flash Drive As An Ipod Replacement?
Mar 10, 2011I have been trying to figure out a way to use a usb flash drive as a substitute for an ipod in my car... I have a female usb plug for the data, but it will not take a regular flash drive.
So, here is my plan. I want to take a flash drive and use a linux ipod interface program to populate it with both the mp3s but also the other itunes crap. Has anyone done this or something like it before?

It is my understanding that "maybe", Itunes can be made to work under Ubuntu by going thru a process that resembles reinventing the wheel - am not interested in doing that. Just want an application that does basically the same thing that Itunes does under Windows but does it under Ubuntu. Looking for something that I can point potential Ubuntu converts to, when they ask how do I continue to use Itunes.

Jan 1, 2010This is the first time I tried playing a VCD on my laptop and when I tried playing it on VLC, it indicated that an error, that it cannot read the file. I searched around the net for some solution and tried opening the VCD through the terminal to no avail. I tried switching to the Movie Player but it's the same. They play the initial 'Warning on illegal copying of the film, etc.' which lasts for about 15 seconds but after that, it won't play at all.

VLC plays it back as distorted noise.I know this BS is because of the files 'Digital Restrictions Management'.
