View 1 Repliesmy dad is wanting me to make a slideshow for him. all it has to be is just a different picture every 4 or 5 seconds, with captions in-between them. i remember i could very easily do this with windows movie maker, but is there a program for ubuntu that i could use that is the same?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago I got the usual "time to update your plugins" and was redirected to adobes webpage. However, the plugin it offered me was incompatible with my build, an AMD Turion 64 X2. I tried downloading some other Macromedia Flash Plug-ins from synaptic and none of them have worked. Since then I've been using vista primarily. I enjoy using ubuntu alot more, especially with all the work I put into my desktop and getting compiz the way I wanted it, but if I can't stream videos then there's simply no reason for me to use ubuntu. I don't have to go back to vista.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI use different browsers for sites like facebook and general browsing (specifically rekonq for facebook, firefox for others).
However, I find that Flash cookies are shared between browsers, and are not cleared when clear my browser cookies.
Flash cookies are kept in ~/.macromedia, and it's OK for me to clear this periodically with a little cron job. However, I would really like separate places for flash cookies from rekonq and firefox.
Does anyone know how to do this? Maybe there is an environment variable which allows this?
My second implementation option would be to make a chrooted environment for each browser or something like that.
My computer freezes and I am trying to diagnose the issue. When.. Using Devede to convert avi to dvd. (almost always) Using Firefox on pages using macromedia flash or java apps. With multiple windows open using terminal. I am strongly leaning towards this being a HARDWARE issue.

That is, does CPRM encrypt it? Could CPRM prevent me from accessing my own data?Is it possible to disable or eliminate CPRM from either the memory card or the card reader? Are there manufacturers selling CPRM-free SD memory cards? Is there any real alternative to CPRM-protected SD memory cards beside USB flash drives? Is Linux support for SD cards good?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 - I want it to sit on another partition along with my Windows XP installation. I don't have a blank CD handy, so I opted for the USB installation option.
I followed the very clear instructions for doing this from the Ubuntu download page [URl].. my PC skips straight over the USB drive and continues to boot into Windows XP. I tried an alternative bootable USB creator (unetbootin-windows-471.exe), but it has the same result.
I have verified that the flash drive is at the top of the boot list - I can also see the name of my flash drive flash past seconds before it boots into Windows, so the PC knows its there. I have also booted into a Live version of Linux using the same PC and pen drive before, so I know booting from it is possible - I suspect the ISO is bad? Or perhaps I'm missing something completely. I tried alternative USB ports too.
As a newbie, I have found may alternatives to the programs I usually used in Windows, with the exception of Flash pro. I liked using it for making small apps or fun animations. Does anyone know of an alternative?

Lastly I also need atleast a PPT viewer to see my lecture slides and a program that can make powerpoint presentations or can be used and edited with Powerpoint would be great for my presentation work.
I'm running ubuntu maverick on a 64bit system. In any browser, ..... or other flash video's fail to load (grey square appears) other apps are not clickable. also in other apps the flash plugin just plain sucks... liferea doesn't play video's for instance, not from any source (vimeo, .....,...) since last week it just started crashing my browsers, or even freeze up the whole system, until the correct browserwindow was closed... I'm using gnome and compiz on top. Is there an alternative for the flash plugin provided by adobe? are there known issues with particular gnome or compiz settings, or any other settings for that matter?
