Jul 29, 2010I recently updated lucid and since then i can't use winff anymore.

View 5 RepliesI recently upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and recorded a screencast with gtk-recordMyDesktop. Upon completion of the recording I attempted to convert the OGV file to an AVI, for ease of editing purposes, using WinFF.(And yes, I have installed libavcodec-unstripped-52) The result was an incredibly annoying error message Which stated:
Code:

Iam trying to use winff to convert a FLv file to AVI but i get this error message "Unknown encoder 'libmp3lame'"i know this is on my machine i looked.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to convert movies to mpeg4 or more specifically formatted to play on my blackberry curve. I followed installation guide from this tutorial [URL]. Everything installed and the program works but when I add a file and pick presets and hit convert the terminal pops up and says the following:
[Code].....
So I press Enter and the terminal closes, than... nothing happens just staring at the winff screen.
I really have no idea where to go with this. I found a link from the forums earlier on these common crashes but cant seem to find it again.
when i try to convert a flv video to mp3 by winff
it gets to me this:
le-avfilter --enable-avfilter-lavf --enable-vdpau --enable-bzlib --enable-libgsm --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libspeex --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-pthreads --enable-zlib --disable-stripping --disable-vhook --enable-gpl --enable-postproc --enable-swscale --enable-x11grab --enable-libdc1394 --extra-

are there a good video and audio converters?
How do I add a preset to the program winff a popular frontend for ffmpeg so that I can have MPEG4 audio support.
P.S. if this is in the wrong area of the forum I will move it if someone will tell me where it needs to go.
I am running 10.10 64-bit and am trying to get an option in WinFF to convert an MPEG file to an iPod compatible video. All of the HOT_TO guides I could find involve installing the FFmpeg libraries, which I have done as well as I could have. The problem is that within WinFF, I don't see anything different in the "Convert To ..." drop-down. The Wiki I am reading tells me to select iPod, but this isn't available. What do I need to do to get this to be selectable?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to rip videos off ..... and put them on my ipod. I added installed "Download helper" which enables me to rip the videos off ..... in a flv format. When I try and convert the files to .mp4a (using the WinFF GUI) my terminal pops up and says "unknown encoder 'libx264'"

I'm tryin' to convert media files to other formats using winff. But nothing happens ! I mean a terminal window popping up and then nothing happens to the files , I tried many formats like (wmv,avi,flv,mp3,wma etc.) to others , and I have all prerequisites . I'm not sure
- ffmpeg (Multimedia player)
- Gstreamer ffmpeg video plugin (Codecs to play formats)
- libmp3lame
- libmp3lame (DEV - I thought that this could be useful)
and this is an image off winFF on my desktop ,
The only preset for mobile phone is mp3. All video presets are gone...how to install them? Im using lucid atm
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a video - taken on my mobile phone. In totem, I get sound and video: lovely. However, in Openshot I don't get sounds, and in WinFF it tells me "Unsupported codec (id=7372" for the audio stream. Why, when both are using FFMpeg do the installed codecs work differently in different programs?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI haven't used WinFF before yesterday. Looks simple so I tried to convert an AVI file of 600MB to DV and ended up with an 8GB conversion. For device preset I used Raw DV for Pal Fullscreen as I'm in Australia.Does WinFF always produce such large files?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am using ubuntu lucid now and using ubuntu for 2years now.except nokia pc-suite i do not miss other s/w for windows.i tried to convert audio and video for using in nokia 5800,but i am not very successful mainly due to my inexperience.i installed winff and ffmpeg and searched a bit in this forum.found a few guides but mostly the converted files shows 'unable to play video or audio' in nokia 5800.
Code:
-r 29.97 -vcodec libxvid -vtag XVID -s 400x240 -aspect 16:9 -maxrate 1200k -b 1200k -qmin 3 -qmax 5 -bufsize 4096 -mbd 2 -bf 2 -flags +4mv -trellis -aic -cmp 2 -subcmp 2 -g 300 -acodec libmp3lame -ar 44100 -ab 160k -ac 2 -async1
this is the example of wiff preset command for nokian810(but not working for me).apparently there is no need for -i or output file(and here i get confused from the command lines posted in the forum.

Since updating to Lucid I have not been able to properly burn DVDs and CDs. I have looked everywhere for a solution to this and have been able to get some functionality but not full functionality. I am using Brasero as I find it nice and easy to use. I read somewhere to get libburn4. Since I did that, I managed to Burn an Audio CD, and today I have managed to Burn an ISO of Ubuntu 10.04, so that is at least some function back.
I cannot burn Data CDs or DVDs. I have a few .avi files I wanted to burn on a Data Disc as burning as a movie to DVD means that I would have to waste loads of discs. I can't seem to burn any Data DVDs. To check that this wasn't just a dodgey blank disk I have tried burning data CDs using lots of albums on the CD. Still no luck. What seems to happen is that it generates a checksum then the box with estimated time remaining, write speed and progress comes up. It hangs for a minute then spits the disk out.
Recently (after the new version iPlayer was released I guess) I have been unable to download IPlayer content. On going to download, the IPlayer screen offers to install the IPlayer Desktop app, tries to install Air (already installed via Software Centre) and fails with a message like "A download error occurred. Try to download again?". Repeating just loops around to the same error message.
This happens on both my PC and laptop - both running Lucid. Have tried uninstalling the Iplayer app and Air, but still the same happens. Any suggestions, or do I have to wait for the Beeb to get it sorted?
Just updated WinFF to version 1.3.2-1.1. Since then it won't start up any more due to a floating point exeption. System: OpenSUSE 11.4 (x86) + KDE 4.6.0 Debug info:
WARNING] Out of OEM specific VK codes, changing to unassigned
[WARNING] Out of unassigned VK codes, assigning $FF

I had the same error with earlier versions of WinFF in earlier versions of OpenSUSE. Then I could fix it by changing the KDE window styles. The error also occurs with the WinFF qt-version.
I'm doing an install for a friend, the machine is a Gateway with AMD Turion64. The install required the 64 bit version of Lucid 10.04 RC. When I try to install the NVIDIA hardware driver, upon reboot, it flickers, fails, and tells me to use low-setting graphics mode.
lspci | grep VGA
00:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51 [GeForce Go 6100] (rev a2)
I have tried all 3 options in the Hardware Drivers menu with no success.
i upgraded to lucid, but now my video has stopped working... videos and iplayer work fine. the problem is with any videos (mp4, flv) opened in vlc or mplayer. i can hear sound fine but the screen is black. the same happens in skype. i followed the comprehensive guide and did all the steps, but no joy.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy sound in Lucid was working fine (for months), and then, for no obvious reason, it stopped working today. I get no sound from any application. I have no idea what could have changed on my system to cause this. When I re-boot Lucid, the login sound plays, and sound works briefly, but it always stops eventually after I login.I am overwhelmed by the large number of different Ubuntu sound problem fixes

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Zotac IONITX-F-E motherboard (Intel Atom Dual Core 1.6 GHz + Nvidia ION) -based box with Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit installed. Do you or does someone you know have the same setup as I do? If so, do they have 1080p video playback working? If so, what driver are they using? I've tried following every guide I could find, but no luck so far. I have libvdpau1 and libvdpau-dev installed. I have the nvidia 195.36.24 driver installed (I used the nvidia installer). I have mplayer installed (which I compiled from source with --enable-vdpau).
I try to run mplayer with this command:
Code:
mplayer -vo vdpau -vc ffh264vdpau path/to/myfile.mkv
I get the following message in my terminal:
Code:
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.
I have libvdpau-dev and libvdpau1 installed.
After Googling this problem, I found a post that suggested the following steps:
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nvidia-vdpau
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-195 nvidia-195-modaliases
It turns out that I had already added the nvidia-vdpau repository. However, despite that, I get:
Code:
E: Couldn't find package nvidia-glx-195
The same problem exists for the nvidia-195-modaliases package. Do these packages exist? Is there some other way to get them?
Summary: a long-working config involving a 1st-generation Ipod Touch with v1 firmware, Ubuntu, and Amarok 1.4 stopped working when I upgraded to Lucid.
A few years ago I was given a 1st-generation Ipod Touch, running the original v1 firmware (I never upgraded to the v2 firmware because v2 wasn't jailbroken at the time). I took it to a friend's place to activate and jailbreak it with her Mac laptop (I didn't have a Mac or Windows machine to install Itunes on; have been Linux-only for many years). Once jailbroken, I was happily able to use it with Hardy, Amarok 1.4, and ipod-convenience (which supply ipod-touch-mount/ipod-touch-umount).
This continued through upgrades to Intrepid and Jaunty. I didn't care for Amarok 2 in Jaunty, so I installed Amarok 1.4 from the ppa someone else made available. I continued to use it through Jaunty and Karmic, without any problems.
Last week I upgraded to Lucid. Syncing Amarok 1.4 to the Ipod Touch no longer appears to work; the Ipod fails to recognize any music transferred onto it (standard "No Music - you can buy music at Itunes" error screen), so I presume this is a libgpod/hash error. I have the FirewireGuid properly set in the .../Device/SysInfo file, as I always have.
Every time I use the Amarok Ipod "connect" function (which runs ipod-touch-mount) it tells me no valid Itunes db was found, and asks to initialize the db. I can then transfer music to the Ipod, and successfully disconnect, but it's not recognized on the Ipod after a respring or reboot.
I've tried RhythmBox and gtkpod briefly with no luck either.
Relevant installed packages:
Code:
ii amarok14 2:1.4.10-0ubuntu3~ppa5 Amarok 1.4 series
ii amarok14-common 2:1.4.10-0ubuntu3~ppa5 architecture independent files for Amarok
[Code]....
Edit: a little more info: after I let Amarok initialize the Ipod Touch and transfer a song to it, the iTunes.db that gets created on the Ipod is 0 bytes long. I presume this is the source of the problem, and indicates something is going wrong with libgpod's creation/editing of the db.
what I should do from here? I've tried removing the DB by hand, but it makes no difference - the subsequent operation to initialize the db results in the same 0-byte file.
i followed this thread and got mediatomb on my ubuntu 10.04 lucid running. i have a samsung UE-32B7020 tv.
the only problem is that for .avi and .mp4 movies (these are the ones i tried), fast forward and rewind do not work. transcoding is not enabled.
After running an update yesterday my sound stopped working. Here is the log that I found in synaptic.
Commit Log for Sat Feb 6 00:45:10 2010
Upgraded the following packages:
devicekit-power (011-1ubuntu1) to 011-1ubuntu2
gnome-power-manager (2.28.1-0ubuntu1) to 2.28.1-0ubuntu1.3
gtk2-engines-pixbuf (2.18.3-1ubuntu2.1) to 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.2
[Code].....
I wasn't able to find which one of these could possibly cause the problem.
I am trying to update using Update Manager and I get this message: Failed to fetch "Failed to fetch [URL]..404 Not Found" My system is 64 days out of date now.
I have looked elsewhere for an answer and some others have had similar problems, but I have not found a reason for it happening, nor an answer. I wonder if anyone can help me please. I have been using Ubuntu for several months, can use the Terminal if I have the right commands to issue, but beyond that have limited knowledge of the system.
I am using kubuntu 9.10 64-bit on AMD M500 machine I had installed the 64-bit special package for flash But after i updated firefox it cannot detect the flash while opera still does Would i have to reinstall (i would already have if it were straightforward)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu 10.04 a few days ago and HDMI audio worked out of the box (with the nVidia drivers enabled). Today I did a system update and (among other problems) there is no more sound coming over HDMI. I'm not really sure what to do to diagnose this problem... where would I start?

Last time my sound wasn't working, I was directed to this thread. The script from this thread might work again, but if it will just be erased after every update, I'd like something a bit more permanent.
I am running 10.10 on a 21.5 inch imac. I just ran some updates and rebooted, turned on rhythmbox to play some tunes and realized there is no sound. Tried ....., no yield. Tried a different user account still no sound. SO I rebooted into osx and I have sound. Its therefore a software issue for sure. I plugged in headphones and changed to the appropriate output in the settings manager, sound came out, but out of phase. What going on here? any ideas would be awesome.
