Fedora :: Unable To Install OpenOffice / Enable This?
Nov 25, 2010
I have installed fedora 14: Linux sunup 2.6.35.6-48.fc14.i686 #1 SMP Fri Oct 22 15:34:36 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
The problem I am having is that no matter which of the many ways I have found in the forum I can not satisfy the dependencies. For example from the directory that contains the files obtained from code...
I've just switched successfully from ubuntu to fedora today. Basically I am really happy with fedora, most problems I had I could solve (with the help of the Internet). However 2 major problem remain:
) I am unable to run .jar files. I've already installed the "Java" package from the repo, but it didn't help. When typing code...
worked without problems, however a quick test (.....) told me that flash isn't working. When I try downloading and installing flash manually from the adobe site I get a message that this package is already installed.
I'm trying to install a language-pack for my OpenOffice, but there seems to be a dependency-problem. Maybe someone has a suggestion. FC12, x64 OOo.x64 3.1.1
My ISP give Internet connection only by PPPoE. A problem is next. After partitions creation installation offer me connection from eth0 device - I need ppp0 device.
Is any way to create ppp0 device, configure PPPoE connection during installation from boot.iso?
May be it is anywhere documentatons create your own boot.iso with added PPPoE ?
I recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
A problem with installing CentOS 5.3 from DVD ... I downloaded the CentOS-5.3-i386-bin-DVD.iso, after recording an image on DVD Start the installation, selecting Installation Method, chose Local CDROM - Message on my screen: "CD Not Found"
Installed ubunto 10.10. The OS installed just as the directions read. got to the reboot screen and after the reboot all I have is a flashing cursor. Its a new built system. 1T HD 8GB ram AMD X3 450cpu Ati PCI-e 1gb video card. I reinstalled and got the same problem this was NOT an update from 10.4. How do I solve the problem?
I have an MSI-RC410 motherboard with onboard ATI Radeon XPress 200 series Graphics card.
I have used OpenSuse-11.0 on my PC for over an year. but when I tried to upgrade to OpenSuse-11.1, I managed to install it only to find that several features were missing. for example /dev/cdrom was missing.
Also install DVD of Fedora 11 did not work.
I have also tried Ubuntu-9.10 live cd. When I boot from the CD i get the initramfs command prompt. Still able to install old versions of these OSs.
What is the reason for this behavior?
Does it have to do anything with the new version of the linux kernel not being compatible with my hardware?
What should i do to install new versions of Linux?
I have recently adquired a Dell Inspiron laptop with Intel Core 2 processor and Windows 7 Home Basic Edition (64 bits) installed. Since I need for working linux I have performed a reduction of the main partition of Windows leaving free a 20 GB of hard drive. With an Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop version (64 bits) I have installed then Ubuntu linux in the empty space mentioned now then having a dual boot laptop (I have done this before with other computers, I knew how to do it so to make it work). All went well and both OS works fine. I have installed a lot of packs without any problem, when I installed thunderbird pack I notice that its version is 2.0. I didn`t think that was a problem until I wanted to install some addons and thunderbird complaints that those addons only work with versions superior to 3.0. " Ok" I said to myself, and looked here code...
I cannot install gnome. It complains about swfdec-mozilla needing to be installed, I install it, and it now needs epiphany-extensions, which uninstalls swfdec-mozilla.
So there are conflicting dependencies. Could someone fix this?
I have a very big problem here. First a little background information. I tried searching this forum but didn't find anyone with similar situation.
I have installed Ubuntu and it's variations many, many times on different computers, and once in my current desktop PC. Right now I am in a situation where I want to install Ubuntu 10.04.01 (or any version, really) but I cannot.
I have tried to install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, I have tried Ubuntu 10.04.1 and 10.10, I have tried to install with Wubi (currently running Windows 7 64bit), I have tried to burn the images to CD and created an USB installer, nothing works, it's always the same. Installer starts, I put in "Install Ubuntu", and the screen goes blank. Nothing but a white little cursor blinking in upper left corner of screen. And I cannot type in anything.
Previously I had Ubuntu 10.04 installed with Wubi, and it worked. Right now, nothing works. Anything helpful appreciated. I can provide some system info if needed.
Ok so recently a friend recommended I try Ubuntu. So I downloaded and ripped 11.04. Reset PC went to install and got to about 95% then got an error that said "Unable to Install GRUB in /dev/sda" then downloaded 10.04 LTS and got same issue along with 10.01 (friends disc) and same issue. I have tried both 64 and 32bit, have tried iso and usb. I was able to install it on an older machine of mine and enjoying it. But I really want it on my main machine. Here are the specs of my main. MOBO = X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard code...
Number 8 and 9 are the issue and choices after words. I am unable to select any choice on step nine. when i hit OK it wont do anything. I hope this is all enough info and would love any help that is given. My friend who is an Ubuntu user is throwing his hands in the air at this point lol. While doing research I found a few ppl with similar issues. And one person said when he made his own /root and /home partitions it worked. I get similar issue even if I take those steps. Ive collected as much info for you guys as I can think of if you need more info plz let me know.
Here are the messages appears on terminal. I can reach those URLs by browser and manually download them. But when I try to install them on terminal or via package managers, simply my attempt fails.. What would be the problem here?
I will say this now; I am still in high school, so forgive my stupidity. I am trying to install either 10.10 or 10.04 on a Dell 1525. It has no operating system on it, and the CD/DVD drive is nonexistent. I have tried to install 10.10 on it using a USB, with both UNetbootin and Pen Drive Linux. Using either one, both end up freezing at the "Preparing to Install" screen. When trying to install 10.04, it will not load, even after 24 hours. On the loading screen, I pressed F1 to view the terminal and got this output:
(process:352): GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0) Killed
I got all downloads from their home websites, www.ubuntu.com, www.pendrivelinux.com, and www.unetbootin.sourceforge.net. I have spent all my spare time since the newest release trying to fix whatever problem there is, so does anyone know what I did wrong?
I have installed on my Ubuntu 10.10 OS via my laptop MS Office 2011 using wine.
The trouble that I am experiencing is that when trying to install MS Office 2003 to my Pc/ Non-laptop computer with Wine I keep getting the error if I double click setup.exe in the MS Office 2003 CD code...
I have seen many tutorials online but all of them require modifying .DLL's in Wine and none of them have worked so far.
What is the best way to install OpenOffice 3.2 in Fedora 12? I currently have 3.1.1 installed, done as part of the install process plus yum updates since then. I've heard that 3.2 gives much better docx support. I just loaded a .docx file into my current version of OpenOffice, and it looked a bit munged.
I've downloaded and installed Fedora 13 on my harddrive, it boots and I can log in.
What do I do now?
I've tried to install openoffice, but I can't get it to run. Unlike installing a program in windows, it appears there is a lot more involved in getting a downloaded .tar/.bz2/whatever they are to load and become a program.
I've tried borrowing a book on Linux, but I'm lost with that too as it doesn't tell me how to add/remove programs let alone get them running in the first place.
I am running F11 and want to spanky up my Gnome desktop a little by adding the desktop effects. When I try to enable it, my screen flickers then returns simply "unable to enable effects".I don't know where to go from here, I tried to google this but the 15 billions hits made me weep. One link seemed to provide some hope but after following the instructions, things went totally wrong and screwed up my X server; this could be because at first I didn't realise but a default install of F11 puts the PAE kernel on.
First off I have set up the PC so that it dual boots XP and Fedora 12
I have been struggling with the installation of openoffice 3.2 I have watched a tutorial on ..... where he was able to do it on Fedora 12 using the Add/Remove Software feature just by simply typing in openoffice.org. I have tried this multiple times and can't seem to get it working.
I have also tried using the yum command through terminal I have been using "yum localinstall" and recieve this error
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again
i cant seem to download openoffice for ubuntu 11.04.I have tried installing it from the software centre (i've tried reinstalling too), but the app finder can't find the openoffice suite, and when I locate the file through my home folder (/usr/share/app-install/desktop/ooo-meta.desktop), I try opening it, and the following error message appears: "Could not display "/usr/share/app-install/desktop/ooo-meta.desktop"
I want to automoate some PPT -> PDF conversions, so I want to run openoffice in headless mode for scripting.
On my machine with X running I can start opemoffice in headless mode via
soffice -accept="socket,port=8100;urp;" -headless
This doesn't seem to work on a server with X not running.
$ soffice -accept="socket,port=8100;urp;" -headless /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin X11 error: Can't open display: Set DISPLAY environment variable, use -display option or check permissions of your X-Server (See "man X" resp. "man xhost" for details) $
The error doesnt seem to make sense as well, as the point of specifying -headless was so that I do not need X, while this command seems to look for X.
The document WNIOSEK O WPIS DO KRS has a CORS logo as an embedded graphic in row 2. The document opens in OpenOffice Writer but the logo is visible at the natural size only; as soon as I enlarge/reduce the picture, either by changing the view resolution or resizing the picture, it just disappears. It happens both in Edit mode and in Print PreviewI tried to export the graphic to a separate image but it did not work. There is a command Save graphics in the context-sensitive menu; it is undocumented either in the Customisation dialogue I used that command and the resulting image was blank. Copy/paste to GIMP via the X Clipboard gives the same blank result.
