getting Sopcast player working in Ubuntu, so i dont have to switch to windows?
I have installed sopcast and its there on the drop down menu, but when i click on it, it wont open.
I use Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. Sopcast player used to work properly, but from yesterday it does not open at all. It doesnt open when I click a link or even when I try to open from the menu.

It would also be installable in Debian Lenny and higher, as long as you have VLC >= 0.9.4 for the built-in player (which is backported for Lenny in another post I had here) I also ported over the nonfree sp-auth deb package which it requires, only for Intel-base 32 and 64 bit CPUs (it's a 32 bit static binary that does the actual P2P). I could roll a Lenny specific package which does not use VLC if you tell it to use an external player such a mplayer or xine; is anyone interested?

I tried to uninstall vlc, sopcast, to install only sopcast, but I noticed it automatically installs also vlc...in other words, didn't find any solution by myself nor on the web.
I currently have sopcast player 0.4.3.1 installed on ubuntu 10.10. any advice on how to remove bookmarks.

yesterday I upgraded of my ubuntu release from 10.04 to 10.10 and now, when I plug my mp3 creative zen player it doesn't work.The same player works very well with 10.04 and I can upload my mp3s directly from rythmnbox using drag&drop.Here my /var/log/syslog

I have recently installed the Sopcast player and it works great most of the time. Occasionally a channel will have video but no sound. I have tried running the URL in VLC player and that doesn't work for me so I'm wondering if it is the channel or if I'm doing something wrong. Specifically, NDSportsTalk has no sound.

I am running ubuntu on an Acer Aspire One as my sole operating system.
To get to the point, when viewing a video in fullscreen, I notice that the initial VLC window remains open under the fullscreen video output. Sometimes the initial video window is under the fullscreen output causes a bit of screen tearing. How do I enable VLC that when in fullscreen mode, only it opens, to be together with the main interface instead of two windows running? Im not sure that im making sense but this does not happen in Windows. I want a similar function here in Ubuntu.

I was trying to make it my default player. All I did was right mouse click on my folders, but I remember selecting anything!
When I un-install VLC player everything works fine.
Crystal Player has one very good playback speed troubleshooting feature - it uses large buffer of decoded frames (about 50% of RAM). Is there any player with such features in ubuntu?

Now I want to rip this DVD but all the rippers I tried return a error at that point when they try to rip it. Rippers I tried:
- dvd::rip
- FFMPEG
- Acidripper
- Avidemux
Now I want to know ain't there a ripper which can read over these errors and still make a decent rip?

Having an issue with A2DP in Maverick.
Whenever I connect my headset, both 'Headset Service' and 'Audio Sink' are shown as being connected. I'm only getting mono audio.
I tried clicking disconnect on 'Headset Service' but it disconnect both. Selecting connect on 'Audio Sink' also connect 'both' and gives mono output.
