I'm using webcamstudio in firefox on a site called stickam and i set the camera to webcamstudio but it either shows nothing or a frozen gray picture i even tried starting it b4 i start firefox but nothing. my webcam is logitech C250. how to get this working? or give me steps on how to broadcast it on a flash based site?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi'm actually running linux mint 9 x64, but i decided to come here because the linux mint forums are down.
pretty much, i got fed up with pulseaudio causing the sound in flash videos/animations to be delayed, and after looking for weeks and finding no solution, i decided to dump pulseaudio and go with esound.
everything's gone fine until i decided to try webcamstudio. as soon as i run webcam studio, all audio ceases to work. this means that any videos videos playing in firefox suddenly become silent, and all system sounds are muted. the only way to cure it is to close webcamstudio and then close firefox. then all the sounds come back.
just as a warning, i'd prefer not to reinstall pulseaudio! if my flash videos don't work properly, then i had might as well throw linux out the window.
I am probably, over looking a simple option or such, but I can't get WebcamStudio to show my desktop instead of this default preview. I have selected Desktop in source and in output is set to Show Splash Screen preview... But how do I get my desktop instead of the Splash screen preview, and I would like to use this for ustream or justin.tv. Rigth now, ustream sees the option for WebcamStudio, and see the preview, but I can't figure out how to change the preview to the input of my desktop.
This is kinda the Splash Screen Preview

For an (art)installation I want a camera (webcam) to stream it's data to another computer with icecast2 server installed (including theora) in the same space. Problem is I need something without a gui.
The webcam is /dev/video0, and I would like to stream the video with vloopback (is working already with 2 pipes) to /dev/video3. If I'm right then I should be able to stream /dev/video4 to icecast.
How can I make the webcam video go into pipe /dev/video3? From [URL] I understand I have to do:
Code:
resize /dev/video0 /dev/video3 320x240 320x240
But then I get:
Code:
Usage: resize [-u] [-c] [-s [rows cols]]

i've got really wierd problem with kernel 2.6.31-20. After kernel update nvidia-module crashes "picture" on gnome & kde, it gives random colors / pixels to the screen. U can use it, so it's somehow working. Without nvidia module everything work perfectly. I've tried 5 different drivers but no solution. Also reconfigured X (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg).This problem is also with older kernels. Problem came after i rebooted to 2.6.31-20 kernel.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had an issue with the module build for vbox 3.1.2 breaking on the latest kernel ( /etc/rc.d/rc.vboxdrv setup ). Apparently the issue is that a kernel header (autoconf.h ) has changed its location in the module tree and hence the issue.
2 options:
1. upgrade to 3.1.4
2. create a symlink as follows
cd /usr/src/linux/include/linux
ln -s ../generated/autoconf.h autoconf.h
So I made the upgrade to slackware64-current and all of a sudden after my next reboot, startx failed, and x refused to start the output was the following:

Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support. Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for additional information. So then after some googling I got the suggestion to downgrade udev-151 to udev-141, but that yeilded no results. So I did some more googling and a bunch of people who had the same problem said that downgrading module-init-tools worked, so I downgraded from module-init-tools 3.11 something to 3.6 and now, not only does my X no longer work, but no modules are being loaded I believe, for example I saw in my startup that fuse was not being loaded, ndiswrapper which I had installed was not loaded.
Any attempt to run yum produces the following error:

File "/usr/bin/yum", line 29, in ?
yummain.main(sys.argv[1:])
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'main'
It doesn't matter what command line arguments I use I get the same.I've spent a day or so searching on Google but not had any luck in identifying what is causing this problem.

Initially I started reading about the Script-Fu syntax but it looked too convoluted (at least for me, with 15 years of Perl experience at work) in a way it does the simpliest of things so I attempted to use Perl instead of Script-Fu. From reading the docs I see that I need to install "Gimp::Fu" Perl module. I installed "cpan" first, started it and issued the command:

I m trying to get the b43-fwcutter working with a b4312:14e4315 chipset, it works on 10.04 intill i have to re-boot (?) then it just has no wireless at all, ive tried upgrading the kernel to 2.6.32 using ubuntu 9.10 but i get the error status 10 build failed. I am pretty new to linux (and to great with computers full stop), ive tried following tutorials i have found but each time i end up with no wireless or a installed driver that doesn't detect any app...
I have managed to get the STA driver working in the new kernel, but when i install b43-fwcutter and remove the bcmw-kerenel-source and re-boot i have no driver at all (?), i am really out my depth here but would like to get it working without it crashing like i get with 10.04

I installed Ubuntu netbook version on my HP netbook Mini 110 with Windows 7. After installing Ubuntu the first boot up failed. It hangs with a black screen with a flashing text-mode cursor. After several attempts (just rebooting) it worked. However, about 95% of the time the machine fails to boot - after 3-4 seconds, and without showing anything on the screen (text or graphical), it hangs with a black screen with a flashing text-mode cursor. Pressing Ctrl-Alt-F7 (or any other keys) has no effect.
I also tried booting in recovery mode from the Grub menu I get at start-up. It failed too. The last few lines I get in recovery mode looks like : ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 abar m1024@0xfe(some numbers)
ata2: DUMMY
ata3: SATA max UDMA/133 abar m1024@0xfe(some numbers)
ata4: DUMMY
After this it get stuck there forever. Can someone help me out on this ? I'm a novice in this area.

I got tired of not being able to run any 3D apps on my integrated Intel and went out and came home with a ATi Radeon HD 4650. Skip the bit about how I could have gotten an nVidia (they didn't have any HTPC compatible low-profile nVidias on shelf).
Actually the card works very well, it runs all the 3D apps I've thrown at it so far (and quite a bit faster too).
My problem is with video playback: it is jerky. The framerate stalls and then speeds up and is out of sync. When not out of sync, there is tearing. Yes I have tried turning Compiz off, didn't do anything. Weird thing is the CPU utilization is really low, so everything should be working.
I figured I would update the video drivers to the latest available on ATi website (following the instructions here) but I've ran into trouble with the installer:
Code:
How do I proceed from here? If you've got a fix for the video with the drivers in the repositories that is cool also. I don't necessarily need the latest drivers.
