I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS last Sunday, but now my Flash is no longer working and when I try to download from Adobe's site, it only gives me the 32 bit version which doesn't work on Ubuntu 64-bit. How to get Flash (64 or 32-bit) working on my 64-bit system?
View 6 RepliesI installed 64bit flash last week when I installed Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on my new laptop, and for the past week it has worked without issues.
However a couple of day ago it simply stopped showing flash videos on sites such as ..... etc. I think there might have been a ream of updates around the time this happened but my memory is a little vague.
I have since tried installing the each of the 3 flash codecs in turn that Firefox recommends but these will not install, failing with an exit status of 2. After I tried this I followed the 64bit flash instructions on the Wiki once more to get back to the point when it previously worked but alas this has been of no help.
I have also tried loading flash videos in Chromium and these suffer from the same issue. Anyone have any ideas what could have caused flash to suddenly stop working?
something has happened since I cannot longer watch streams which usually required quicktime (mov,qt), I've the medibuntu package and everything was fine till one week ago, maybe something within the last update... I'm using Karmic and Ubuntu Firefox 3.5.4

After upgrading to Lucid Lynx I can't get Gnomad2 to work with my Creative Zen X-Fi. I used to get it to work by running Gnomad2 as a super user, but now the program quits itself when trying to get the songs from the device claiming a segmentation fault.

I am running 10.10 on a 21.5 inch imac. I just ran some updates and rebooted, turned on rhythmbox to play some tunes and realized there is no sound. Tried ....., no yield. Tried a different user account still no sound. SO I rebooted into osx and I have sound. Its therefore a software issue for sure. I plugged in headphones and changed to the appropriate output in the settings manager, sound came out, but out of phase. What going on here? any ideas would be awesome.

It looks like a Qt4 problem, I have installed Qt4 with all possible dependencies, re-installed vlc several times but no effect! cvlc as proposed doesn't react.
I've been trying to get my webcam microphone working in flash on Kubuntu 9.10.I have a Logitek Pro 9000, and video and audio work in other applications (skype), but video is all that works in flash (I have flash 10 installed). In the flash settings, it lists the only microphone option as "Linux Microphone", which does nothing. This seems to be a common problem, with a few solutions offered.
One I've tried, which seems fairly straightforward for gnome users, is here. However, whenever I run pavucontrol, I get an error reading "Connection failed: Connection refused".Does anyone know how to either get pulseaudio open, or how to get the microphone working in flash without it?
i'm running on 64-bit 10.04, and i can't seem to get flash working; well, i can see videos on newgrounds, but not on videos. it keeps telling me to install the latest flash player, and even when i install it through synapticit never shows up in firefox's list of installed plugins. then when i try to install it through adobe's site using the apt url, it says that the package it's trying to install is virtual, and the installation fails. i've also tried gnash, but that doesn't play videos videos, and i tried to install swfdec, but that didn't show up in firefox's plugins either

Flash was working perfect until one of the last software updates. Now all I get is "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed."
I tried running:
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer and got the following message"

I can't get the flash plug-in to work properly. I am running Ubuntu 9.10 x64, which I think might be the issue. It seems to be able to run flash games and videos etc. but it won't let me interact with it. So if I want to pause the video, I can't or if it doesn't automatically start, I can't watch it. With games, it runs, but I can't click on it at all.

This happens on Chrome and Firefox.
When I'm running a flash site like, Pandora, it stops working when I open another tab with flash running like, Hulu. Now it doesn't stop working right away but in time it does.
Then screen on that tab usually goes grey.
Now this doesn't happen all the time but enough to get me flustered.
Update Manager prompted me to run an update, which I did, then Flash stopped working after I ran ran the update.I first noticed the problem when I was using Chromium, trying to view a video on the BBC website, which displayed the message "Cannot play media. You do not have the correct version of the flash player. Download the correct version".So, I clicked on the download link, which took me to the Adobe site where I selected APT for Ubuntu 10.04+, but that didn't make any difference, so I then tried to view the same video using Firefox, but that displayed the same message.Could someone please tell me what I need to do, in order to get Flash working again?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi recently installed ubuntu on my netbook, an acer aspireone. got everything running properly. at first i had a problem with using webcam online for sites using flash 10 (facebook, videos, tinychat), but someone directed me to the adobe control panel and after setting some permissions, everything was working fine. yesterday, i installed a bunch of updates, and since then the built-in microphone stopped working in chat.
the microphone still works if i record audio or use it in other applications. but for all of the sites using flash for video chat (listed above) i can only get the camera working, not the mic. i don't get any error messages or anything different from before. the only difference is that no sound is coming through. i wish i knew which updates i've installed yesterday. one of them must have caused the problem, since it was working fine before then.

After that I installed Oracle Database 12c. It was a bigger effort to get the whole system going than initially supposed. As far as I can see it is working now. Finally to use Oracle Enterprise Manager in the Iceweasel Browser I also need to install the flash player. After modifying the sources.list I did that with the following command

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter the most recent Firefox update (3.6.6), Flash video has stopped working. I have the Flash player plugin from Adobe (adobe-flashplugin version 10) and it is not working. I have tried uninstalling it and installing the flashplugin-installer package instead, that did not, so I reinstalled the adobe-flashplugin package and still have nothing. All using synaptic package manager.
More specifically, flash videos do not show up at all: ....., anything: just a blank spot on the screen.
I have a Dell OptiPlex 755 DT almost 3 years old. I did install Ubuntu 10.10, no problem. Everything I working except for one small issue. When I try to show video on flash full screen, then the picture gets small and freeze, the computer still works fine, but the video freeze. The same gos for Facebook games on full screen doesn't work,, computer doesn't freeze, I can click anywhere and get back to normal.

I've been playing around with the latest RC of 11.4. Overall, it works great, but just have 1 issue. No flash videos have audio. Video works just fine. I've tried installing both the flash-player package so that it loads the official 32-bit plugin through ndiswrapper, and tried downloading the Adobe Square 64-bit plugin and installing it. Doesn't make a difference, either way I have working video but not audio. Audio itself on the laptop works with no issues, I listen to Amarok all the time on it. Laptop in question is a Dell Latitude E5500. I've also had Debian Wheezy and Kubuntu 10.10 on here, both had no issues.

i have tried using nspluginwrapper and the 32bit flash version but with certain videos im unable to use the controls.
I was wanting to know where i could get the latest x64 flashplugin ?? that was made before macromedia stopped creating them.
Recently audio stopped working in my flash video, when browsing in Chrome or Firefox, video is ok, but no audio. I don't know when did it stop to work. My system is SUSE 11.3 with all software up-to-date.

I'm having the same problem with any Flash application I try to run: everything works, but without a sound. Amarok, however, doesn't have this problem.Somewhere I found that such problem might be related to Pulseaudio. So I tried going on the Pulseaudio configuration under "other" in the sound panel in YaST, but it tells me that Pulseaudio is not installed or cannot be configurated. I tried installing the package via Terminal, but it tells me that patterns-openSUSE-kde4_pure-11.3-22.1.x86_64 conflicts with pulseaudio given by pulseaudio-0.9.21-10.1.1.x86_64. I would have to delete it, if I wanted to install pulseaudio.Now I don't know where to put my hands. I am not good at this I'm not even sure I would solve my trouble installing pulseaudio, anyway. I'm using a sony vaio VPCEA3C4E with openSUSE 11.3 KDE installed trough USB key.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue changing the flash plug to display flash. I clean installed 10.04 a week ago, upgraded to to the closed source adobe plugin, and everything was great. However, a day ago, I had an issue with one site, and I decided to switch back to the default swfdec player. Since that time I have not been able to switch back to adobe. Every time I attempt to, firefox complains that adobe is already installed. Even if I remove the adobe flash plugin via synaptic and allow firefox to reinstall it, it still uses swfdec.

I tryed to reinstall it and it said it is already installed and to cancel.
