Recently audio stopped working in my flash video, when browsing in Chrome or Firefox, video is ok, but no audio. I don't know when did it stop to work. My system is SUSE 11.3 with all software up-to-date.
View 9 RepliesI'm trying to diagnose a weird problem ... maybe someone has an idea where to start. I'm having a problem with flash videos. The video part displays as if the fast-forward button is being held down; audio sounds correct.
I'm thinking "synchronization error" (duh!) but I'm not sure how to start to diagnose the issue. I'm running OpenSUSE 11.4 x64, and the problem shows up in both chrome and opera.
So everything was working perfectly on my system. I have Debian SID, with the debian-multimedia repos and liquorix repos for kernels. Flash worked perfectly one boot, then the next boot the video still works perfectly but no audio. I found several "fixes" on the web, including creating .asoundrc in your home directory and another that said to

I have been using my HTPC OpenSuse 11.2 for for some months now and everything is great, I'm very happy that I made the switch to Linux. Today for some reason none of my avi files are able to play. When I try a DVD there is also no play back of the video. Sound is working but video is not there. I have tried Kaffeine, VLC, SM Player. All no luck.

I've been playing around with the latest RC of 11.4. Overall, it works great, but just have 1 issue. No flash videos have audio. Video works just fine. I've tried installing both the flash-player package so that it loads the official 32-bit plugin through ndiswrapper, and tried downloading the Adobe Square 64-bit plugin and installing it. Doesn't make a difference, either way I have working video but not audio. Audio itself on the laptop works with no issues, I listen to Amarok all the time on it. Laptop in question is a Dell Latitude E5500. I've also had Debian Wheezy and Kubuntu 10.10 on here, both had no issues.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic, which borked booting on that partition. I made a fresh install of Karmic on another partition which is booting fine, but I can't get Audio CDs to work, period. They worked in Jaunty and every release before that I had installed. Data CDs work fine in Karmic. I'm using plain ol' Ubuntu 32bit. I'm not sure where to start. There have been other threads where other people had identical symptoms. Either the problem went away mysteriously on its own, or they gave up because nobody believed them. In any case, I'm beginning to wish I had stuck with Jaunty.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't get any sound from either online audio or from a CD in drive. I've watched videos with sound with only occasional problems until today. I have been using MPlayer with internal audio 1 output - analog stereo output. When I start a vid, it will begin to D/L and play, but without sound. When I try to check the volume level everything pauses and then my system freezes. Sometimes it will release in a few seconds, but mostly it won't allow me to close Firefox and if I try to close the tab or window or Firefox, I have to reboot. Sometimes the vid will D/L without a problem, but no audio on playback. Oddly, when I bring up the system monitor, processors will show 1 or 2 cores stuck at 100% while the others fluctuate wildly. Download speed falls to almost nothing with occasional blips or nothing. I checked several sites and they all have the same problem. I have checked my physical connections, and bios settings.
There is an option for a RS780 Azalia controller 1 output Digital Stereo (HDMI) output, but I have not been able to make it work since the system was new. I don't know why.
This is the most recent SYSLOG file. The pulse audio errors have always been there, but since it didn't seem to affect playback, I didn't run it down.

Flash was working perfect until one of the last software updates. Now all I get is "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed."
I tried running:
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer and got the following message"

If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated. I'd really like to get Flash working again before I build a new box and upgrade to 10.04.
I'm not sure what's causing it, but when I play or pause a flash video in Firefox or Chromium, there's about a second of audio delay.

Audio works just fine on other applications so I'm guessing this might be a permission's issue or setting of some sort? I also have: flashplugin-installer 11.0.1.60~110713-ppa0~lucid & flashplugin-nonfree 11.0.1.60~110713-ppa0~lucid installed with ALSA v1.0.24.2.
View 6 Replies View Relatedok, everything worked fine after a fresh 10.04 install, and after some days now i suddenly got several disconnects from the wifi somehow (all other devices in house does not get disconnected, so its a local issue), tried to restart networking, and when i reboot, it works for some hours, then cuts of again. but, after the latest reboot, the sound card is "gone" i suddenly have no sound and a wifi that disconnects at will 13:24 everything worked 110% in all previous ubuntu versions

Update Manager prompted me to run an update, which I did, then Flash stopped working after I ran ran the update.I first noticed the problem when I was using Chromium, trying to view a video on the BBC website, which displayed the message "Cannot play media. You do not have the correct version of the flash player. Download the correct version".So, I clicked on the download link, which took me to the Adobe site where I selected APT for Ubuntu 10.04+, but that didn't make any difference, so I then tried to view the same video using Firefox, but that displayed the same message.Could someone please tell me what I need to do, in order to get Flash working again?

I watch the video, and the audio is fine for a few seconds, but then the audio cuts off as the video continues to play. Sometimes, when I move the scrollbar of the screen/pause and replay the movie, it starts back up again for a few seconds then shuts off or plays the audio I just heard.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Compaq Presario F739WM laptop has a Connexant HD Audio/NVidia MCP51 (reported by lspci) sound card.Ubuntu has always supported the card with no problem except the random popping noise but then I found a work around for that.Now for some reason, when I first turn on my computer and at login screen I can hear Ubuntu noises, yet seems once I login, no more sound or sometimes the successfully logged in sound.
The only changes that I have since the sound worked, was I installed pulseaudio but that caused no problems with that. The other change was a few kernel upgrades and other packages through normal update manager.I have checked that snd_hda_intel driver was loaded in the kernel and in alsa, all seems well.Pulse detects audio output in it's meter.I also tested the sound card to make sure it wasn't bad, in Windows 7 (dual boot) and it wokrs perfectly.
n an up-to-date kubuntu karmic I experience the following:watching a flash video with adobeflash in firefox in fullscreen mode, randomly the picture freezes while the audio continues. The video unfreezes when I move the mouse, the video then fastforwards to the actual replay position. Video card is nvidia geforce fx5200 on proprietary driver, I have the desktop effects enabled. Any idea what this is about? I discovered the effects causing wine windows to break (no window contents, no foreground, no reaction on mouse) when changing the desktops or minimizing them. Seems like there are some bugs in the window manager / decorator...

I started the computer, everything came up fine but the projector I have attached to the HDMI wasn't recognized anymore. I have a GeForce GT 425M and a Panasonic AE-2000 attached to it. After a recent flash update it has stopped working in firefox 6 and konqueror. I am using 11.4 kde 4.6.5. Never had a problem with flash till now.

Sometimes, both on Gnome MPlayer and Movie Player, videos clips won't play. I use mainly MKV file format and quite often, AVI. I have also installed Ubuntu-Restricted-Extras.
The players will literally not play. When I scroll, it goes through the video clip as if I'm fast forwarding when paused, and then it would still be frozen.
I only use Gnome MPlayer and it's been working fine until like two weeks ago, and when it happens it's also the same for the Movie Player. The problem stays there until I reboot my laptop.
It's random but quite often and it's now doing my head in. It would be nice if any of you gents could give me a good solution without getting involved another player, because I really like Gnome MPlayer.
over the last couple of weeks, firefox has asked to be upgraded a few times. shockwave flash has also asked to be upgraded. sometime last week after upgrading shockwave flash all video stopped. so i have no videos, video in webpages just shows a grey box, with a light grey arrow.i have been very busy so i have taken time here and there to check the internet for solutions. there appear to have been problems with macs' and a lot of the problems appear to be from august 2009 onwards,am not sure it is the same problem.i am running opensuse 11.1mozilla firefox 3.6.10shockwave flash 10.1 r82 is enabled

i just installed 11.2 and i do not get any audio from flash movies (e.g. videos). (startup sound and amarok work ok). interestingly i do manage to get sound out of flash in a particular circumstance:
* i install 11.2 from the livecd using default settings.
* at the end of the process i log in as a normal user
* in a console as super user i run "zypper install flash-player"
* flash-player and nspluginwrapper get installed (nothing else)
* i start firefox and i am able to play flash movies with sound from videos
* i reboot and log in as a normal user
* i start firefox and now flash movies from videos play without sound
i am using Ubuntu 11.04 on my computer system. I urgently need a good video converter for converting videos.I have already installed FFmpeg and men-coder,Winff etc. The problem is each has its own drawback.For instance ffmpeg cannot convert a .avi to .3gp with audio working. My preferences are the converter should be user friendly, should support all popular video formats.

i can hear certain types of audio, it seems any audio that is not attached to video. i can hear the welcome chime through my speakers after i log in to opensuse and i can also listen to .mp3 files played with amarok. i can watch videos with multiple players, videos videos etc., but there is no audio happening with the video.
i am thinking now this may actually be a hardware problem, since it seems to persist with different software, and only with audio attached to video. i'm thinking maybe there is a problem with my graphics card and its driver (or a lackthereof), although i'm unsure of why i can still watch video. i don't receive any error messages or anything, nor have i attempted to manually install any drivers for my existing hardware. i tried cranking every volume control i could find, including the system volume, but still no volume with video (its weird, its like i can hear it a tiny bit when i crank it, perhaps this is just the internal system beep speaker trying to fill in for the gfx card?).
the card i'm currently using is an nvidia card and although its not exactly old, i have read about some problems with nvidia being reluctant to produce drivers for linux in the past. after some brief googling of nvidia and linux, i was surprised to see that nvidia has an entire portion of their site devoted to unix/linux and open source drivers (perhaps they're doing better now).
is there any way that i can troubleshoot this problem, or do you think the solution is simply purchasing another graphics card from a vendor that has a good reputation for linux support?
Just got done installing openSUSE 11.3 with the fantastic support the forum brings, but now I notice there is no sound coming from Firefox (v3.6.8) with Flash v10.1. Nor do I receive the new message sound for the Facebook chat. I do have sound at start up (the start up chimes) and I do have working sound in Amarok (with glorious mp3 support, YaST2). Is there a plug in that is needed, or is there an incorrect setting?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi've suddenly got problems with flash - it was working fine until a cuple of days ago.i have flash 10.1.82. 76 ubuntu0.10.04.2 on ubuntu 10.04, but videos and other flash sites tell me i need to upgrade to the latest flash version 10.i've tried flash-aid, which seems to run ok but i still have the problem.at the same time, i can suddenly only run firefox tools > add-ons in safe mode - if i choose tools > addons in normal mode, fx locks up completely, and finally gives me the option to force quit. i've tried re-enabling add-ons one at a time, but no problem until i come out of safe mode.i'm wondering if this is a firefox problem rather than ubuntu or flash. my firefox is 3.6.8
