since ubuntu's decided that firefox needs to have their strange and weird theme for the buttons... what's the easiest way to remove this new way that it decides that the button configuration for when you want to close it and other things? I cannot seem to find this file, and i've already tried to delete my .mozilla file and i've installed swiftfox and it's using it. So where in the world did the Ubuntu UI people put this thing at?
I have a server that delivers media via HTTP (or FTP). If I click on a link, it downloads to /tmp and then plays in vlc, but what I want is for it to run vlc and give it the URL so that it will play it as a stream. I am generating the HTML and I'm using thttpd for the server. If I do it manually (Copy Link Location, paste into vlc) it works fine, but I'd like click-and-play. I've Googled for hours and can't even see the topic addressed. This is possible, right?
I want to make an Ubuntu Live CD so I can have some people view data on a local LAN web server. How can I modify the default homepage in Firefox and then burn the result?

There is a site that I visit so often that it's domain ends with (.org) and when I go there I write the name and press (ctrl+shift+enter) but sometimes I press (ctrl+enter) and it takes me to a site that I hate so is there a way to make firefox when I write [url] take me to [url].
I need to get Java working on Firefox. I read some instructions that had one create a link in .mozilla/plugins, to a java library, so I did. When I load a website with Java on it, I still get the message about needed to install a plugin. Not sure what is up. I wouldn't care so much, but I have some equipment that has a Java web interface that I need to configure. If I can't get Java working on Firefox, then that is a problem. I've put the link I created in the plugins dir below.
I'm running Centos 5.3. Here is the uname output code....

I am trying to replace Adobe Flash player with Gnash in Firefox, but Firefox is not recognizing Gnash as a plugin after I installed the Ubuntu package called browser-plugin-gnash. how to use Gnash as a plugin for Firefox? I am using Firefox 4.0.1 on Ubuntu 11.04 on a 32-bit machine.
I updated to 11.3 and my Firefox became ugly. It now looks like this: [URL]
It used to look something like this with 11.2: [URL]
Firefox still uses KDE file dialogs etc. so at least some of the Kde integration still works. How can make firefox look like it belongs to Kde desktop. I already tried reinstalling firefox and also removing .mozilla folder.
How do I change the ports that something like xchat uses to make it use the same port as firefox? I am currently somewhere that has all non browser ports blocked.
I am relatively new to scripting, but I was wanting to open a firefox window from a bash script, but have it open, then minimize. In the script, I have a single instance of: firefox & but is there a way to minimize it, versus have it displayed on the screen? I was wanting the command terminal to remain visible and it can't since the firefox window is open in front of it. I looked all over the place, including the man pages, but to no avail. I can make the height and width changes, but no minimize. Either that, or to be able to bring the terminal window back to the front automatically.
I have installed Xampp on Fedora 11. After that I have gone to Mozilla Firefox Browser and wrote [URL].. on the address bar but it is not supporting Xampp, when I opened Konqueror Browser and wrote [URL].. on the address bar it is supporting Xampp and showing everything of Xampp. Now, is there any way to make Mozilla Firefox Browser work for Xampp?
It's a few days now that I notice everytime I save a page in Firefox, only the .html file is saves, and firefox does not make a folder associated with the page in which it saves the images, etc..Could this be because I installed TOR and the TORBUTTON for firefox?I have, however disabled the TORBUTTON addon from Firefox, and restarted the browserbut the problem persists.
I've been Googling all day and cannot find the answer. I find all the "GUI" ways to do it through Gnome and KDE but I'm not using either...I have an EEE PC set to boot up automatically to openbox and want Firefox to start after that in a full screen openbox window.I've tried adding the firefox command to ~/.initrc but it won't execute. I tried the command in .profile. This brings up firefox on a black screen without openbox.Firefox comes up fine when executed from the openbox menu.
Unfortunately far for all unicode characters can be displayed in Fedora by default, (much less than in M$ Wnd). There is a tool that aim to find and install missing fonts when an non-displayable character appears, but it starts mainly when I accidentally open non-text file in terminal and never when a web-page I open in Mozilla Firefox (or Konqueror) contains such kind of characters. So, I see a rectangle with hexadecimal number of character in it (or simply empty rectangle in case of Konqueror) and don't know if there is a easy way to see it by installing missing font automatically (or manually at last) for range of this character or a way to install complete font collection to display all unicode characters from all ranges.
How do i roll back firefox5beta to firefox4 and keep updating to the latest stable releases w/out upgrading to beta? The only extension that isn't working is FEBE which is incompatible w/ firefox5beta (profile, extension and preference backup). Have to use FEBE beta7 under Firefox4 so I don't think a compatible release for Firefox5beta is going to come out any time soon.
I recently upgraded (via Ubuntuzilla) to firefox 3.5.7 and now, every single time I close Firefox, the program seems to crash without quitting completely.
First, I receive an error saying that the program will not close and asks me if I want to Force Quite or Wait for it to close on its own. This has been happening ever since I upgraded to Karmic and if I just wait it usually quits fully after a couple seconds.
Now what happens is this: the window still closes, but if I try to reopen Firefox then I get this error stating that Firefox is already open and therefore cannot be opened again. The only way to get back into Firefox is to restart the entire computer. (Incidentally, this is the same problem that occurs whenever I try to Force Quit Firefox)
This now happens every single time I "close" Firefox.
Does anyone know the source of this error? Or a workaround?
