Ubuntu :: Liferea - Download Podcasts - 'Unread' Search Folder To Display All Feeds From All Subscriptions?
Mar 2, 2011
I'm about to make the switch to Ubuntu but what's holding me back is Liferea. From what I've read it's by far the best RSS reader but I'm having three major problems with it...
1) I am trying to get Liferea to download podcasts that I subscribe to. I've set my download folder in preferences, and I've set the feed to automatically download enclosures in the advanced tab of the feed folder. Nothing is downloading, why?
2) I want the 'Unread' search folder to display all feeds from all subscriptions (read or unread) apart from those in the Podcast folder I've created. How do I do this?
3) I read an article in a feed and delete the article. When the feed updates, the article returns - how do I keep it deleted?
I would like to have Icedove display the number of unread messages in the task/window bar when both active or minimized; note I am not interested in a system tray solution just yet. There must be a hack to do this right? Would it involve recompiling Icedove?
How do you tell rhythmbox that podcasts already downloaded outside the program are in fact podcasts? Mine are mostly just mp3 files and it doesn't seem possible to drag and drop them into the podcast section but I also can't find anything in the song properties.
I downloaded some software using tar.gz got it opened and working etc but every time I need to use the program I have to go the downloads find the tar.gz then find bin to use it again. Is there anyway I can put it somewhere so I can find it. I am using 10.04.
i have the following problem on FC12 x64, FF 3.5.5.
Since a few days my AdblockPlus AddOn forgets its subscriptions on a FF-restart. I already reinstalled it but no change. My own rules are still there, but the filter-lists of the subscriptions are gone on every restart.
How do you search for folders in Ubuntu? The find function is great at locating files, but is ignoring folders that I know exist on my computer, even when I add the "Show hidden files" option to search. Same with entering find or locate in terminal.
I can't search file in another folder other than the home folder. Like when I try to search in my mounted NTFS drive, it only shows and only searches my home folder, not the current open folder in mounted drive. I also have installed "Beagle Search" to index my data and reduce time searching,
I have upgraded my firefox to the Mozilla Build version 3.6 and following that, my liferea seems broken. It will no longer display previews of threads and I get error messages when trying to open links directly from it in Firefox. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling liferea to no avail
I have a hidden folder with a lot of text files in it. I would like to search in this folder for all files containing a given text. The File Browser's" FIND searches only in the file names, not in their contents. The FIND function of Ubuntu does not allow me to search ONLY in the given hidden folder. So, how can I find my files within the hidden folder with the given text within them?
Me & a friend of mine both have ubuntu 10.4 installed on our laptops & have been looking into accomplishing various different tasks. Well as it goes what we are looking to do is to have our laptop/s connect to the internet then automatically search & download image / videos with a certain name...
I have totally exhausted my search to find IPBlock. I use it on my other Ubuntu machines but for some strange reason I cannot find it anywhere for my Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick. I know where the iplist is but not the actual file IPBlock download
Assume that I've got a folder called "Stuffs". So in fedora 15 you don't have a desktop folder, I mean you can't use it like we were used to. Even if you activate the option that allows you to use the "desktop", it is very uncomfortable because you can't minimize windows quickly. So my question is: Is there a way of put a "Link" in the overview, so I can get in to the overview and write "Stuffs" in the search bar and get my "Stuffs" folder open ?
I just installed RSS feed reader application Liferea as it said the best in GNOME linux. But the problem is that i can't see any ..... or flash videos in that, though it presents in website. It just left space instead of video. At-least it is not directing me to ...... If i see any large space i am going to website to watch the video. Its quit a bit difficult.

I'm wanting to mod some PHP files across a hierarchy and thought I'd drive it with find + grep + xargs
I built up a command line which I was confident would do the job, but now can't save the results.
First I tried this:
Code: find . -name *.php | xargs grep serialize | cut -d: -f1| sort -u | xargs sed -i s/serialize/serialise/g but that didn't work: Code: sed: illegal option -- i so I thought I'd try using Code:
I have installed OpenSuse 11.3 and I works quite well in my dell latitude xt2, even touch screen right out of the box.
I like Liferea for news feeds but when I try to read any feed from Slashdot it crashes after some seconds. It also happens with another source, etwinning.es.
I'm trying to set up Conky to show a number of RSS feeds, and while I can get it to show the raw titles of items how would I trim these titles down to a given number of characters (say, 40) and add an ellipsis to the end if text has been cut off? The length of titles by default can vary wildly, so if only for the sake of organisation it'd be nice to have a maximum title length imposed.
I found this thread that does something kind of similar for Transmission torrents, but I have no idea how I'd adapt it for RSS feeds. As it stands, the code (well, a sample at least) is simply:
Evolution shows Inbox(1) but when I click on Show: Unread Messages this message appears; "No message satisfies your search criteria. Either clear search with Search->Clear or change it".Selecting Search->Clear shows the hidden message.
I have a WebDAV server at home with at folder that I want to mount on my Ubuntu computer at work over the Internet. Everything works fine if I just use dav://user@server:port in Nautilus so I tried adding it to fstab (using davfs2) and managed to get it to mount fine.
The problem is that when mounted using fstab Nautilus thinks that it is a lokal folder and downloads images and movies to create thumbnails/previews, something that it doesn't do when just using dav://. This uses a lot of bandwith everytime I'm trying to access a folder with any media. I'm wondering if there is any way to exclude my entire /media/nas folder from showing thumbnails?
I am using hotmail as my main email and want to setup the evolution as my default email client.but for some reason it couldnt download my folders which are on the server.it only downloads the mail from the inbox.is there any workaround for this.also if i switch to thunderbird would it be able to download the folder from hotmail??
Anyone know of an app that can auto sort my download folder. The problem is I use torrents and do not want applications stuck with movies, stuck with music. Is there an application that looks at the file extension and moves files accordingly? I know windows has Digital janitor but I do not believe it is supported in linux.
I know there are Linux email clients but I like Hotmail. I upgraded to Karmic and I'm very happy with it. The only issue I have found is I can't get the unread email to have bold text. I've tried downloading a number of fonts but no deal. Anyone know the font package I need to make this work?
Is it possible to show the number of unread Gwibber entries in the me menu? And is it also possible to open Gwibber or Empathy from the me menu? Not just the preferences, but for example for Gwibber the whole window?
i was just wondering, that, is there a way to permanently display a full folder in desktop, in gnome.for example, there is a home folder displayed in kubuntu desktop, always
