If I could find a log then I could locate this file.

Could someone look this over and give me the details on how i remove the package or program that did not recomplie correctly and doesnt behave right. Its called Novacom i was using it when testing some tethering with my palm pre, but as you can see in the terminal output below everytime i install a new package i get the same error about trying to recompile novacom. Im new to Linux but really liking not being on windows any more.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to 10.4 netbook remix on my Asus N10 with an Nvidia card. I normally don't use the card and to get rid of troubles don't install the driver. After update something went wrong with the driver and I can't fix it. When the PC finished his boot het ask to give the password for the default key ring as usual but the window disapears before i can change anything. So this one is no too bad as my password is very easy and I can do the job with switching windows and keying very fast the pwd.
But try to read your evolution mail in these circumstances. I tried to start in low graphics mode but didn't help. Finaly I installed a fresh version on a separate partition and asked to copy my Evolution and Firefox documents. He didn't, dn't know why and tryed twice. So far my fresh installation works well but I lost my mails and shortcuts. So.... I think the easiest would be to work from the new installation as on the old one even the terminal window disapears.

I have Ubuntu 9.10 running on Dell Dimension 8400, 1 gig ram, Pentium 4. No other OS installed. Last night I decided to upgrade from 9.10 to 10.0.4 through Upgrade Manager with the upgrade button. The upgrade ran over an hour and errored in the "Installing the upgrades" step with the following messages on the Terminal screen:
"rpmdb: Program version 4.8 doesn't match environment version 4.7.
error: db4 error (-30971) from dbenv->open: DB_VERSION_MISMATCH: Database environmnet version mismatch
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - (-30971)
RPM failed to open database, cleaning it up..."
I went to bed without doing anything. This morning at 7:30am EST I checked the status of this and nothing changed to the screen it was still stuck on this error with progress bar at 4 minutes in Upgrade Manager. I can move my mouse and even open Firefox 3.6.3 to search for issues within Ubuntu environment so I am not frozen. I haven't tried anything else yet.

As far as I know, mono is by default on every Ubuntu 10.04 installation, however as per the error message, I installed the Windows version of Mono via Wine successfully. Trying to start the program again, still coming up with above error.
I've used Ubuntu for a number of years now, and have enjoyed it. I'm in the process of selling my laptop, and the guy that is buying it wants nothing to do with Linux. Is there an easy way to uninstall Ubuntu? I've been looking for hours and all I can find is people using a Windows Recovery CD, which I don't have. A few years ago, I remember running across a program that made uninstallation a breeze. Does anybody know what it was or where I could find it?
