I do not want the Event or Task areas to show. I don't use them that much and there are buttons to call them if I do need to make notes.
I only want the numbered squares and buttons/icons to be displayed.

When I select messages and hit "Delete", the messages go to my local trash and they loose their Inbox label in Gmail. I would like that in Gmail, they loose their Inbox label and go to [Gmail]/Trash so that they'll be deleted after a month.
Could I configure the "delete" key of my keyboard to move msg to [Gmail]/Trash ? Could I configure another key to move msg to [Gmail]/Trash ?
What other solution ? Because moving to the trash is not convenient, it takes a lot of time without a key shortcut.

I have wiped Windows and am running 10.04 exclusively. 32 bit, when setting up evolution e mail account i dont see where to enter password....where is it? anyone have link with screenshots? i know i can use regular hotmail but want to know how to use default ubuntu programs.
I still can't find a spot for password. options are, login, set preferences and a remember password checkbox but nowhere to enter a password
If I were to have a situation where I had installed the driver for a printer but when I went into printing on the control panel to "add" the printer the driver didn't show up - could I or should I consider manually editing some configuration file to get the printer recognized/ installed on the machine? If that were a good solution, how would I do it? What file would I look for? What would I edit in it? I know that first sentence is probably hard to read but I don't know how else to say it.

configuring RAID, LVM and my physical volumes for a new 10.04 Server install (used mostly as a windows file server and print server). My hardware setup consists of 2 identical 500GB hard drives. My desired end state is:
An ext4 root partition (20 GB)
A swap partition (2GB)
A fat32 partition (450 GB) (to be accessed via Samba)
The above all to be on RAID1 across the 2 disks
The way I see it, the there are a number of possible ways to configure the above, and I am looking for some advice on the best (feasible) option: Create a single MD0 raid volume accross the entire two disks, and then create a single LVG across this, with 3 sepreate LVs, on for each partition above Create 2 physical volumes on each disk, create two raid volume on these (MD0, MD1), one for the LVG with two LVs for the Root and swap, a the other for the FAT32 partition (this seems like more work?) Other more suitable options?

I'm almost done and it is configuring grub-pc. The last line is: Setting up grub-pc (2.98-lubuntu7) ... Then it hangs.
On the web, I find numerous bug reports about my situation, but no work arounds. What do I do?
I'm about to sell an old computer and I want to put a fresh copy of Ubuntu on it for the buyer to use. I don't want to configure a user name and password--I want to leave that process to the buyer, similar to the experience of (for example) buying a new Apple computer, where it asks for a user name and password on first boot after the OS is already installed.

You should arrange for these programs to be restarted or stopped before continuing this upgrade, to avoid locking your users out of their current sessions. I've stopped xscreensaver it is the only session running. I will reboot and stop xscreensaver and then run the upgrade.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I wanted to install ubuntu 11.04 alongside win7 on my notebook (with no optical drive). I created 2 primary partitions (one for win7 [ntfs] one for ubuntu [ext4]) and 2 logical partitions (one for swap one for general use for storage[ntfs]) by running ubuntu from my USB Flash disk and using gparted. First, I installed win7 without having any problem, then ubuntu also without having any (apparent) problem (I installed boot loader on MBR: the default setting). After the ubuntu installation is over, I was instructed to restart my computer as usual and win7 started without asking me which OS to boot. When I run ubuntu from my Flash disk and run gparted and selected the boot drive as the partition on which ubuntu was installed, I got the error saying "missing operating system". I suppose GRUB is misconfigured and that is causing the problem because nothing went wrong during the installation processes. How to configure GRUB by running ubuntu from my Flash disk. BTW win7 is working just fine.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.

Now when i try to install evolution from the software centre i get this: Package dependencies cannot be resolved This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using Fedora 14, which has Evolution 2.32.1 but have recently also installed openSUSE 11.3, which has Evolution 2.30.1.2. I would like to make openSUSE my primary distribution, and so I would like to restore my Evolution settings from Fedora, but Evolution complains that the backup file is invalid. I have tried copying the folders in the backup to their appropriate locations in openSUSE with no luck. I have also tried manually copying with instructions for older versions of openSUSE, but with no luck.
An obvious guess at what might be the problem seems to be that I am trying to restore settings from a newer version to an older version? An obvious thing to try would be to upgrade to Evolution 2.32, but Evolution has a long list of dependencies so before jumping into that fun I thought I would ask if anyone else has had similar problems and found a straight-forward solution. I still have access to my emails in Fedora so this is not hugely pressing, and if upgrading to 11.4 will do the trick then I can just wait for that.
have Evolution syncing with Palm Treo except for the Tasks. In a previous installation Memos didn't sync. I have set the EToDo, EMemos, ECalendar and EAddress conduits to Copy from PDA, yet no data appears in Evolution. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10.

In an attempt to restore my ubuntu 9.04 desktop to its original settings, I entered the following in Terminal: rm - rf .gconf. gconfd .gnome .gnome2 .terminacity
and then reset.
The new desktop is cleaner, but now Evolution Setup Assistant wants me to reinstall. I don't think I have an archive file, so should I use the Assistant to install? Will I lose my mail, calendar and tasks if I do?
What if I just install version 9.1? Will it install using my old evolution files?
Evolution e-mail has stopped working. Un-installed everything evolution using Synaptic and re-installed. No change: address book comes up but mail, calendar etc do not work. Clicking on any causes gray out and leads to a force quit. So how do I un-install evolution completely and then re-install as a completely fresh install. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.

As a check I have a netbook and the file transferred fine to that (10.04 netbook remix) -that is with all the folders.

Today I installed the update and it wiped out my entire Evolution database.
The Evolution e-mails and e-mail history are still there, but not a single Contact.
Is there any way to 'uninstall' today's update or go back to a time before it was implemented?
Is anyone else having this problem? I do have a database backup, but its about a month old. So I don't want to import it unless there is no way to get the current version back.
When I try to remove Evolution Mail in the Software Center it just thinks and never begins to uninstall. When I try to force remove from Terminal it says: "Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?"
I have looked everywhere I know of, being a new Linux user, trying to find where the process may still be running or being used from and I do not know where to go from here.
