May 3, 2011I just upgraded my Ubuntu to 11.04 and now my wireless does not work, nor can I see the available networks. I use Dell inspiron N4010 64-bit with dual bootup with Windows 7.

Ubuntu Installation :: Upgraded To 10.04 - Wireless Won't Connect
Jun 10, 2010I have no wireless problems with 9.10. I upgraded via synaptic package manager to 10.04, and the only things that seems to be off is my wireless. It sees my network, other networks, ect, but it won't connect. I can get a wired connection no problem, but thats not the point of a netbook

Feb 5, 2011I've just installed Ubuntu. My house isn't wired so I use wireless on all my machines to connect to the internet. When I start up Ubuntu, I can connect to my wireless router. After about 3 minutes, I get disconnected. It refuses to reconnect for several minutes. If I disable and reenable networking, I can establish a connection again, but the process is repeated. I'm not really sure what the issue is here. Any guesses? This is a desktop and I'm using a Belkin wireless adapter.

I'm unable to connect to the internet through any wireless connections, nor through an ethernet cable. I installed the latest weekly image of Debian squeeze. After installation, I found myself on the command line. I installed gnome with
apt-get install gnome-desktop-environment I also tried installing gnome-applets, gnome-netstatus-applet, and gnome-nettool, but I guess they were already installed. When I open System > Administration > Network in Gnome, there's no connections tab in the Network Settings application.

I'm one of those people migrating from Ubuntu and in Ubuntu I had to add a 'rfkill -unblock all' command to my rc.local file for this laptop. Not sure if that's relevant, but thought more info couldn't hurt.

Mar 30, 2009I am quite new in Linux and start trying by using Fedora. I installed Fedora 10 on an old PC. I installed once and Fedora 10 recognized my wireless USB finger. Well after some setting but I cannot recall teh exact details. Due to certain reasons, I have to re-install Fedora 10. However, this time the wireless device is not working (The system recognized it and the driver is working ok but not able to connect to the access point and I caanot find a place to check the available wireless network list. I used WEP password protection so need to see the network list and select the network for prompt of the password entry.)

Those are my authentication capabilities, obviously. I am using a WEP encryption for my wireless router and according to this, it will not allow me to connect. Is there anyway to allow that? The wireless card works just fine in Windows, even on the same network encryption type. Using a Intel Wireless/Pro 4965 ag. Note* this is my mother's router and whatnot. She won't change it the encryption type.

Jun 30, 2011I installed a Tenda W322P wireless card in my dual-boot PC running both Windows XP and Ubuntu 11.04. The card worked straight out of the box on XP, but does not function correctly under Ubuntu. My apologies for any missing/irrelevant information, I am having to post this from the Windows boot so the Ubuntu settings are not directly available at the same time as internet access.I followed the process detailed here htURL...to install and configure the driver (I believe from reading other sites that this card is the Ralink RT3062 chipset), blacklisted the original RT2860 driver that was in use (couldn't even get the card to scan for wireless networks with the default driver) and restarted the interface.
Since then, sudo iwlist scan can find my wireless router but when I attempt to connect to it, it seems to enter a loop of requesting the WEP key then pausing for a while before re-requesting the key. I know I have the key value correct because it is copied and pasted from the same text file I used to copy and paste into the passkey field on the Windows boot. Attempting to connect to the router using Ubuntu also has the rather unfortunate side-effect of crashing the wireless router, killing off all other device connections until the router has been reset.

I updated the firmware for my driver but apparantly the driver is still not working. Broadcom has a driver from their website for Linux 32 bit systems. Should I attempt to install it? I read a post where the driver is built into the system kernel. If so I would need to blacklist the one of the drivers. Correct?

Feb 18, 2011I have loaded the latest version of opensuse and I have everything working but I cannot connect to my wireless WPA2 network. I have downloaded the bcm43xx firmware using the method /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware I then restarted the network. The computer will now read the network card and will find networks but I cannot get it to connect at all. At first it would connect using ifup in yast but would disconnect after a few seconds. It would never connect through NM. I have a usb network card that works just fine. I am lost as to how to fix this problem.

After that can see many wireless Access Points at home,selected one via NetworkManager (eth1), configured it (incl. security same as in Win7), it goes from Activating to Active, but I still can not connect - I mean, in the FireFox - "page not found"

Apr 11, 2010One of the biggest issues i have at the moment is that my network based plasmoids on my KDE desktop load before my wireless network connection is established, so i'm thinking it would be best to start up the wireless connection at boot time. On previous distro's, I did this with netcfg but I can't seem to figure out how to do so in OpenSUSE 11.2. Is this the best way to manage this issue or is it possible to set a delay before the plasmoids load up?
