I can only find info relating to repeating *background* images in my search attempts, and this is just a regular image file which I want to repeat over the pre-existing page background. I'd like it to repeat all the way up the extreme left hand edge of the page. Say the image is called abd.jpg and is in the same folder as the index.html.

Feb 9, 2010OK I have multiple developers on a system and I have setup a area on the web server where they all should have access to and all that fun stuff. Now I do not want to setup these developers default group to be this single group cause they could be members of multiple groups...
IE:
/var/www/cust1 - Group Cust1
/var/www/cust2 - Group Cust2
etc...
Then say for the developers:
dev1 - member of Cust1 & Cust2 - Default group is dev1
dev2 - member of Cust2 - Default group is dev2
dev3 - member of Cust1 - Default group is dev3
So when they go into say /var/www/cust1 only dev1 & dev3 should have access to modify files and when they create/edit files the owner should be the user and the group I want it to be Cust1. Then when going to say the Cust2 area new files and stuff have Cust2 group access with RWX.
Is this possible for users to just use their normal accounts, or will I need to look are setting up "project" accounts where they can su into say dev1cust1 account which will have the default group of Cust1?
how you all handle this and what I might be able to do so that the permissions stick.

Aug 23, 2010I am trying to build minimal php and mysql binaries. While doing so, I realize that there is no documentaries to state whether does compiling straight from the source without any configurations options set, ensure an optimized yet minimal build? I am trying out for my own personal website which will be powered by Wordpress 3. The previous method I used was using the package manager: "apt-get install php-cgi php5-cgi php5-cli php5-mysql mysqld mysql-server mysql mysql-client". I am trying out to mimic the binaries installed by the package manager through building from the sources instead. How do I know what configuration options did those repositories developers used? Is there any special configuration options used for those minimal yet optimized binaries? Does doing the following ensure a minimal build?:
1) ./configure
2) make
3) install
I figured since I did not use any configuration options, therefore it should be a minimal build right (Meaning the bare-bones)?

Jun 10, 2010I've been using Ubuntu for about a month now, gotta say I'm loving it. I've been spending more time in Ubuntu than W7 now. I've been trying to get Steam to work with Ubuntu without the whole thing exploding on me. I've got WINE and winetricks already pretty much set up, and Steam works flawlessly. The problem appears when I try to launch Team Fortress 2. The monitor instantly goes to sleep, but if I wait a few seconds, I can hear the in-game music, which means that the game is loading correctly.
I'm using the 10.04 LTS release, Wine 1.1.42. Kernel version 2.6.32-22-generic. My graphics card is a Radeon HD 4850, running Catalyst 10.5.

Jul 22, 2011i recently installed wine, steam, and team fortress 2 so that i could play it. They all installed just fine except for not getting fonts but i did that manually. The problem is when i run tf2 the screen seems to scramble at the menu but after a while it goes away. Performance is terrible in game though and crashes have happened. im running ubuntu 11.04 and the beta of wine installed via software center. Everything else runs great if not better on ubuntu and i would really like to continue to use it over win7.

Oct 17, 2015i have a problem with both spotify and teamviewer. Both of them work just fine but when i close the main window they keep going in background (as they should) but, not showing any tray icon, if i want to close them i have to manually kill them in a terminal. For teamviewer there's an option to choose to completely close the program by closing the windows but i would like to have the possibility of having the app working in background with a tray icon!!!
Spotify gave me the same problem but i read on spotify community that is a bug of the current version. Still i'd like to solve the problem with teamviewer.I had a similar problem with skype and i solved getting a plugin from https://extensions.gnome.org/ but for teamviewer i don't see anything similar...

Oct 24, 2009After some testing for a couple of days, I decided to take the plunge and update all my 5.3 machines. Using the recipe from the release notes:

shutdown -r now
I updated some guinea pigs that I had physical access to and didn't have any issues. So I remotely updated a small farm of LAMP machines that handle a couple of million page views per day. It took each machine approximately 5-6 minutes to download/install/reboot.

Even though I told it to install the boot loader on /dev/sda7, it installed it on /dev/sda and messed up my other settings. I would like to report a bug, however, when I go to Launchpad and select "report Ubuntu bug" I get sent to this page:[URL]I can see how to report a bug for a currently running process (which would be hard if the process has just crashed), I can see how to request new software/features, but there is nothing for the installer.

Jan 16, 2010Having recently gone on an interview with a company that attempted to con me into writing malware for Linux desktops (which made the assumption that javascript and flash were present), I am concerned about this.I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 desktop x86-64. I wanted to download a free documentary via bit torrent but don't trust bit torrent sites and needed to be able to search for seeds from the client. I installed Vuze (formerly Azureus) from repo. I opened the client and searched for my file and BLAMO!, twenty or so notices came up about me needing an anti-virus, trojans being on computer, etc. Clearly this phishing attempt was directed at a Windows machine, however the behavior of the application is unacceptable. I haven't checked to see if any files were downloaded or nasty tracking cookies created (though I did get one prompt for my password), but I was curious: Is there a place to report potentially malicious or unsound applications in an Ubuntu recognized repo?

Mar 26, 2010There is an issue with kmenuedit. It was complaining that it couldn't write to /home/usuariokubuntu/.kde/share/config/kmenueditrc. But even running it with sudo, the behavior was strange (the applications weren't saved at the menu, and everything was very slow - like taking 40 seconds to create a new item at the menu). It seems that the problem was that the file /home/usuariokubuntu/.kde/share/config/kmenueditrc was setted as owner and group as "root". I've changed the ownership and the group of that file to the user owner of home (in my case, usuariokubuntu), and it is working fine now. So, I would life to report this, so developers can fix the issue. I've upgraded a completely clean instalation of kubuntu 9.04 to 9.10, so I don't know if the issue also happens when directly installing 9.10.

I recall having seen this sort of information on an NT system long ago but I cannot find it now. Does anyone know where to look?
