Ubuntu :: How To Print Multiple Photos On Sheet
Jan 10, 2011I was wondering how you might go about printing multiple images on a single sheet of paper...I used to know how to do it in Windows but have never done it in Ubuntu.

View 1 RepliesMy wife has a canon MP470 printer and running ubuntu 10.10. I am able to print black and white, but unable to print photos. I got it to work using another driver, but not the 'correct' one for this printer. I have searched a bit and don't see anything about ubuntu 10.10, just older versions. Or should I just network her to my printer....?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can I combine multiple single page prints into a single print job? For example, using Firefox on Linux one can print a web page such that each sheet of paper has four pages printed upon it. I would like to combine several separate web pages so that for example, web-page-a, web-page-b and web-page-c (each less than one print page long) are printed on a single sheet of paper.
I would like to do this without having to use some form of image editor to combine and manage manually created temporary files.
I have multiple noisy photos (caputed without tripod) that needs to be adjusted (moved/rotated) and averaged.
How it's better to do it in Linux with FOSS console-based programs?
Current way is something like:
mplayer mf://*.JPG -vo yuv4mpeg:file=qqq.yuv
transcode -i qqq.yuv -y null -J stabilize=maxshift=500:fieldsize=100:fieldnum=6:stepsize=50:shakiness=10
transcode -i qqq.yuv -J transform=smoothing=100000:sharpen=0:optzoom=0 -y raw -o www.yuv
Update: Experimented with "Hugin". It only distorted all photos according some "projection" and refused to merge them: enblend: excessive overlap detected; remove one of the images. Of course "excessive" - they're all almost in the same place. No averaging? /* and images are not actually aligned */.
Proceeding to experiments with enblend/panorama_tools/ale.
I *take* photos with both my Android smartphone and a fullblown DLSR. I *manage* photos organize, rename, rotate, etc. -- on my Opensuse box with KDE's Gwenview, and on my phone with Pixie Reef's "Fishbowl" Photo Gallery [URL]... I'm interested in your ideas about ways to keep everything in sync -- without using 3rd-party online services (No Picases, Flickr, Smugmug, etc). What needs to be kept in sync, somehow, includes:
The photos themsleves. Their organization among, and order in, various 'albums' Photo & filesystem metadata -- timestamps, filenames, EXIF data. PhotoApplication-specific data recognizing that at any time a change may be made on either device. rsync is a possibility, but once photos move into different dirs, it'd get messy. What workflow can I use to do this? Do I need a central server in the mix? If not using the 3rd-party services, is OwnCloud my best/only choice assuming that after each (group of)change(s) on each device I manage to sync with it?
I often have a need for printing multiple files. Therefore I found a Nautilus script that would allow me to do this. However often many of the files a Microsoft Office doc-files. Since I do not really want to convert every single file (as that would defeat the purpose of bundle printing) I tried to figure out how to print these, as the commands "lpr" og "cupsdoprint" cannot process these. I have found a printing command using the CLI part of OpenOffice, but I cannot get it to do multiple selected files.
The command is:
Code:
soffice -p "/path/of/file.doc"
How can I use this in a Nautilus Script so I can print multiple files?
Are there any reliable ways to print libreoffice or openoffice drawings to multiple pages. I have two drawings I designed for 11" x 22" sheets, and I'd like to print one of them to 4x or at most 6x 8 1/2" x 11" sheets, without reduction.
So far, when I've tried this using "print to multiple sheets," the results have been erratic, and have basically wasted paper and ink with no usable results.
I can't even preview this.
I am using the old trick of creating a duplicate file, and creating for duplicate slides within it, making each slide one group, and using the alignment settings to make each slide match one corner of the original image. It works, but it is kinda clunky.
how to use multiple linux cut comman to display on same line ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI run Ubuntu 10.10 now and was surprised when I couldn't find Kivio which I use for simple charts for work. I now know that's it's no longer supported and so decided to try Dia as it's more of a native app' anyway, so here's the problem..The page setup dialog has a page size of A4 but it appears that this only relates to one of the (for want of a better term) cell sections on the sheet, I found this out after (stupidly) creating a diagram that spanned a few of these cells and being surprised when my printer started spitting out sheet after sheet of diagram bits!
So can someone help me out and tell me how to setup Dia up so that what I can see on screen is what I'll get when I print, If I try to stay in one cell section it looks daft to work on and is far too small as well.An explanation of what the actual thinking and benefit behind the current layout is would also be appreciated, I'm sure it's great for some people but I just want to do a few flow charts!
I'm currently using Ubuntu Jaunty, and am considering upgrading to Karmic. Is there any advantage to backing up my data and clean-sheet installing a newer version, or is the upgrade path through the update manager sufficient? Would a clean install carry less baggage coding-wise?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've done a pretty inclusive search and haven't found a command line cheat sheet for Ubuntu more recent than 2007. Is that one recent enough, have the basic commands stayed the same? I know I tried tweaking grub 2 and was in a whole new world from the grub i tweaked a few years ago (I know were not talking the same thing from boot loader to os, but it seems there would have been slight changes at least since 2007).
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy F12 is connected to a Xerox DC432 printer on the network. The problem I'm facing is that banner sheet cannot be disable. The configuration setting on Administration->Printing showed that banner is off by default. "/etc/cups/printers.conf" file also have "JobSheets none none". I had the same problem with F11. Is there any step I'm missing? It doesn't seem to be problem of the printer itself because I could do this on a Windows OS.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to print a PDF so that on the front of the first page are the first two pages, on the back the 3rd and 4th and so on. code...
Because my printer using Linux fails to support manual duplex printing I'd thought, maybe I could edit the pdf in a according way.
But how?
Don't know where this should go, so I put it here for starters! I want to print documents on both sides of an A4 sheet, using a Brother HL-1230 printer. Is there a way of getting the odd numbered pages out first (then a pause?) and the even numbered pages after? To do this manually is tedious on a long (14 page) doc. Way back in the days of that other op. sys. I had a program (WordPerfect?) Whose printer driver would do this. Is there one for Ubuntu?

I have two different applications deployed in two different was7 servers in same Linux machine. Both the applications generate excel output stream which I open in IE. When I am trying the same application in Windows environment both are working fine, but in Linux I can open and download xls files in one application but not in other. I am using application/vnd-ms... as mime type and POI jars to generated excel, no errors in my debug log or system errors.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying enter a VLOOKUP formula in Sheet1, where the array is in Sheet2. For both the items, I have used mouse to enter cell references, which I always do.
1. Search criterion has been entered as a range, which is different from previous versions and not a very comfortable situation.
2. array reference completely missed entering Sheet2! in front of A1:C13. Only way out of this is manually entering the sheet name, which is not only cumbersome but also ludicrous. Moreover, we never had to do it like this in the past. I am using OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 in Ubuntu 10.10.
I'm looking for suggestions for a command line utility than can generate a contact sheet (e.g. jpg etc) from a video? I'm mainly interested in starting from FLV files, but i guess the solution will probably work for other formats with appropriate codecs etc. So, for example, if i have a 30 minute video, every 2 minutes through it i'd like it to generate a thumbnail and then put 15 of these in a 5 x 3 grid in a single jpg. On Windows,Media Player Classic Homecinem will do this through its ave Thumbnails command.
Ideally i'd like to do this from the command line/script in a debian server environment, rather than a desktop GUI. It doesn't have to be a single command, if a chain of steps could do it.
Is there an application that will take the data from an Open Office spread sheet and locate and mark each address on a map?I've got a long list that I need to sort and locate by zip codes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedInteresting problem: For the first time with Xubuntu 10.10 64bit, I am finding certain applications print corrupt. A varying amount of letters / numbers either get substituted/print a blank space/ print a box etc etc. This corruption seems to happen from a Pdf ( evince ) or Spreadheet ( Gnumeric ) Opening the same Pdf on another machine (ubuntu 10.10 32bit) prints perfectly. Opening the same .xls file on the original computer but using OOo Calc prints perfectly.
I guess I have ruled out any problems with the printer itself or the network JetDirect box. I have re-installed CUPS and evince and upgraded to the latest version of HPLIP but the problem appears unchanged.
I cannot print pdf files. I have tried using okular and xpdf. The documents display in the program, but print preview shows a blank page. The printer then sends out blank pages. I have tried printing on 2 different printers using usb cables. Using terminal to process the commands shows error:
Quote:
xxx@xxx:~$ xpdf
***** MediaBox = ll:0,0 ur:611.976,791.968
***** CropBox = ll:0,0 ur:611.976,791.968
***** Rotate = 0
Segmentation fault
Converting to .ps also is blank.
Just installed drivers for Lexmark pro200 - S500 series. However although it is recognised by the system and has a tick by its name, And tells me it is connected via usb file goes to print que but will not print. Also tells me it is Printing - localhost! is this correct?.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI initially had a problem accessing the CUPS interface (see my other post) and got that resolved by adding the user "cupsys". Now, everything "looks" ok, and when I print a test page, it shows it as completed (in CUPS). However, the page never prints.
The printer is a Canon MP600 (using the canonmp600en.ppd file to configure it). Here's the output of my conf file.
Code:

I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 with a Laserjet 5M printer. When I attempt to print a job from Firefox or from Okular, the job never gets onto the print queue. However, I can print test pages on the printer and also print from OpenOffice, so this seems to be app-dependent. I know the jobs aren't being queued because the job number doesn't increase (as shown by the jobs for the test pages). Both Firefox and Ocular give every indication that the print job has been processed correctly.
