View 4 RepliesI know this is a bit out in left field but my gf's dad has created a fairly large application in Excel 2003 and now we need to run it online. I setup mono and xsp2 on my Ubuntu server in order to test but have no idea how to convert a monster .xls file in VB to ASP or maybe even PHP (one can hope, right??)

Here's what I've done: Client side - installed and registered the OLE DB .dll's from the PostgreSQL OLE DB Provider project. server side - the configuration described here: [URL]... Have added this line to postgresql.conf:
listen_addresses = '*, 144.96.80.35, localhost'
I've also tried this as simply:

I am a recent switcher, and I was following some other website's post on how to install Microsoft Offcie (im sorry all OO users but I find Office more intuitive). I downloaded the PlayonLinux Windows Emulator (i guess you could call it that) and then tried to install office. Previously, office came preinstalled with my windows machine when i bought it, so I never got a cd but for the installation with PlayonLinux it requests a cd. Does anyone know any workarounds to this? Also, I am not trying to get a keygen or anything illegal, as I have a working copy of MS 07 running on the Vista partition of my laptop.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is what I am trying to get for my dinosaur, Compaq Presario 5050. But I have never booted linux through floppy disks before, so I haven't a clue what I am doing.
In the read me from the site I linked above, it said they need to be 1.44 M and DOS formatted. Both are 144, and I went to my computer (in XP) and right clicked on the floppy, format, and create bootable DOS disk. But this fills the disk up with files, and even when I deleted them all, it said there was not enough room for one of the two files I am supposed to copy on to it.
So, how do I make the file fit onto the floppy, and how do I write the image file to one of the floppies? In DOS? I can use linux too, if necessary. (if it's easier)
This is another one I am looking at, but basic linux looks easier to install.
I am currently trying to install Personal Brain on my Ubuntu 11.04 and I came to realise I am Linux retarded. I got used to it for about a year, but for the most part I used the Ubuntu Software Center and Synaptic Package Manager to install software and learned to manage okay. Thing is, I have used the terminal, but I don't know any of the coding or commands to generally install software being straight up downloaded form the net.

BTW, the old HDD I will be using is pre-installed with Debian so I need to do a "Fresh_install". I know how to use RPM in RedHat but I think in Ubuntu its a different thing. Is there any particular website to download these additional Apps?

View 8 Replies View RelatedIf you do a search on the web you can find where to download Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection 7 client (rdp client). To get it to work under Wine (I used Crossover Office) actually was pretty simple. You will need to copy four files from an existing Windows 7 system. Two of them, mstc.exe and mstscax.dll are located in the C:WINDOWSsystem32 directory. The other two files, mstsc.exe.mui and mstscax.dll.mui, are located in a subdirectory within C:WINDOWSsystem32.
The name of the subdirectory will depend on the language and locale of the Windows system you are using. If your language is English and you are in the USA, they will be located in C:WINDOWSsystem32en-us. Copy those 4 files to some temporary directory on your Linux system. Next create a new Wine Windows XP "bottle". Use either Crossover or Wine to browse to the SAME wine C: drive subdirectories as on the Win7 PC (see above) and copy the respective files into each subdirectory in your Wine Bottle. Two files each into 2 different directories.
Next using either Crossover or Wine execute the RDC 7 application.
wine mstsc.exe
In Crossover you can just click the button the RUN a COMMAND and just enter "mstsc.exe". The RDC login screen should appear prompting for a Server address and a login ID. You can also change various other "options". I have not tested alot but it does seem to work pretty well so far.
I have this game for the pc called international football 2000. Its a bit old I know, but I want to see if it will work on my computer. I am still running on the 8.04 ubuntu and will be upgrading soon hopefully. Will a game this old and also made by microsoft work for the ubuntu system?

I am fairly new to using Ubuntu 10.10 or any other versions of Ubuntu. I recently downloaded Microsoft Office 2010 and opened it with Wine (read it was the best and easiest to use) after a few seconds I get an error message asking me to install msxml 6.10.1129.0, So I did some further research and found a bunch of links for download but from experience I did not attempt any as I know my PC can get infected. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm still a bit green at Linux - not enough that the terminal scares me, but I still need to figure out with my 'networking' which programs do what. I'm still newly switched from Windows (though I've had a love affair with Linux live OSes for everytime I'm in between Windows OSes) and finally made the switch to Ubuntu. I have Wine installed for windows programs, and recently got a bit frustrated with OO Base, and went to install Microsoft Access (which I have training with) and while trying to figure out my install, Wine tells me it doesn't have any programs that read the 'autorun.inf' file. A little google fu tells me I kinda need an .inf reader for autorunning cds, dvds and the like. Anyone know where I can get the file? I tried to go through the Windows site and get the drivers downloaded for it, but I've hit a dead end.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a new ASUS EeePC 1015PEM with Windows 7 with the intention to install OpenSuse 11.3 onto it for having a dual booting netbook with enough disk space.I'm installing from an external DVD drive, the checksums of the ISO were ok as well. However, the OpenSuse installer fails at starting up after selecting the action. It hangs, no matter what menu entry I chose, at "loading basic drivers", forever.Because this isn't necessarily an unknown problem I've tried some of the predefined kernel options of the main installer menu. Then I tried some manually entered kernel boot options that helped me in some other installations:
acpi=off, apm=off, CPUFreq=noNone of them seem to have an effect on the installers behaviorI hope that there is people who managed to solve this problem with an actual EeePC model... because I really don't know what I could any more. It's kind of frustrating to not even get past the kernel launch I haven't tried any other distros installation discs, but I don't even intend to. I want OpenSuse because I'm running it on our firms machines as well and don't like shifting between systems.
I have installed on my Ubuntu 10.10 OS via my laptop MS Office 2011 using wine.
The trouble that I am experiencing is that when trying to install MS Office 2003 to my Pc/ Non-laptop computer with Wine I keep getting the error if I double click setup.exe in the MS Office 2003 CD code...
I have seen many tutorials online but all of them require modifying .DLL's in Wine and none of them have worked so far.
I've enjoyed accelerated 3d graphics for years with this laptop, but since moving from CentOS 5.3 to FC12 I have had no 3d or opengl working at all.My install seems good. I'm running right now with the 'nvidia' driver in 1920x1200 res with no real problems except the lack of 3d. I have just finished trawling the forums again, coming back to: F12,F11 & F10 Nvidia driver guides [URL] I uninstalled all my nvidia packages, re-installed only "kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686" and dependencies, ensured 'nvidia' was my selected driver in xorg.conf (using nvidia-config-display disable, then enable), and rebooted, and still no joy. No errors in Xorg.0.log. My 'glx' extension is loaded. 'nouveau' is rdblacklisted. SELinux is disabled. I have 3Gb RAM and so have chosen not to use the PAE kernel or modules.
