I have this game for the pc called international football 2000. Its a bit old I know, but I want to see if it will work on my computer. I am still running on the 8.04 ubuntu and will be upgrading soon hopefully. Will a game this old and also made by microsoft work for the ubuntu system?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect to a Win XP computer via Remote Desktop/Terminal Server. (Note: WinXP refers to Remote Desktop, or RDP; Ubuntu uses Terminal Server client for this function.)
The problem is that my XP computer requires the use of Microsoft's RDP version 6 because it uses a Terminal Server Gateway. The TS client in Ubuntu is compatible with version 5, not version 6.
Is there a MS RDP version 6 compatible program/client for Linux?
I'm still a bit green at Linux - not enough that the terminal scares me, but I still need to figure out with my 'networking' which programs do what. I'm still newly switched from Windows (though I've had a love affair with Linux live OSes for everytime I'm in between Windows OSes) and finally made the switch to Ubuntu. I have Wine installed for windows programs, and recently got a bit frustrated with OO Base, and went to install Microsoft Access (which I have training with) and while trying to figure out my install, Wine tells me it doesn't have any programs that read the 'autorun.inf' file. A little google fu tells me I kinda need an .inf reader for autorunning cds, dvds and the like. Anyone know where I can get the file? I tried to go through the Windows site and get the drivers downloaded for it, but I've hit a dead end.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI dual boot windows and ubuntu, and fount it very nice. But when i run flash game at my chrome, i can see the CPU usage increase a lot. When it reaches max, the flash game will be 'flashing' and lag. I use latest stable google chrome and flash player. Any idea how to fix this? I encounter no problem when playing at Windows.

This game is Java based. After rebooting the game works, but on ending the game several notification boxes remain. If these boxes are not closed in the reverse order that the game opened them, it is no longer possible to close them. Only by killing the Java processes can these notifications be made to close. Also after playing the game, even if all these notifications are closed it is many times necessary to kill the Java process(es) in order to get the game to load again at a later time. I am currently using Slackware 1.30, but a similar problem has existed in several of the past releases.

I'm trying to figure out what is the problem. I used Ubuntu 8.10 in the past and never encounter a problem like this. It keep freezing the computer 3 to 5 times a day. I check varies of sys.log, kernel.log, any kind of log you could think of and they not showing any reason why it froze. This is the only last thing it wrote because it froze

This is always what it ended up with every time it froze. I check the log and it usually on that message. and I switched back to the previous kernel and assumed it the newest kernel causing problem. I had this problem before in my Ubuntu 8.10, so i switched to the previous kernel and the problem is solved. So on my ubuntu 9.10, I switched to the previous kernel, it still have the same result. I'm running out of ideas. I been thinking about switching to 8.10. The reason why I like 9.10 because of ext4 support

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Debian testing system on a laptop that used to have Windows 8 on it. I kept the EFI boatloader and its partition, but now every time the system boots, it first tries to boot into Windows (which isn't there anymore). Removing /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft just leads to an error message when booting, with some component of Windows still trying to load and not finding those files.
The workaround for now is to go into the UEFI boot menu on every boot and selecting the "debian" entry, which works but is a bit cumbersome.How can I get rid of the Microsoft loader completely? I find a lot about repairing or re-adding the Windows bootloader, but nothing about removing it.
Just picked up a Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse.Whenever I try to pair it, my system hangs and I have to hard power it down. The mouse is Bluetooth 4.0, but my Bluetooth connectivity is provided by my Intel Wireless 3160 card which does support Bluetooth 4.0.I'm using Blueman as a front end, and one other thing of note is that it shows as "Unknown" after a scan.If I need to return it, I need to return it, but it seems like a good mouse and I'd like to keep it if I can make it work.

I recently put Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop, and now I have my account set to "Administrator" but it won't let me install a game from a DVD rom, I installed the original game and it's first expansion with no problems, but the account says I don't have permissions to install the second expansion. I am sure it's because it's a DVD rom, but how can I give myself "root" permissions, or set up a root password so I can permit myself to install things?

i would like to run install disks via WINE, but there is a problem. the CD's are by default not executable, and the cd is read only, so when I try to change that I cant.
I really just need to know what stupid thing I'm doing to cause this. I've extracted the files, and when I try to run the setup program, if I click on it from a file browser window in GNOME it just doesn't do anything. If I attempt to run the file (it's a .sh file, if that makes any difference) in the terminal, it says "command not found", even though I'm in the directory, and can clearly see the file when running ls.
If I try to run it in the file browser, and click on "Run in Terminal" then the terminal pops up, and goes away instantly.
I read about a game called kajongg at [URL].I don't see it available in the debian testing repositories, I guess because its part of kde 4.5 which is not yet in use by testing. Is there some way to install this game in debian testing?

I downloaded the PlayonLinux Windows Emulator (i guess you could call it that) and then tried to install office. Previously, office came preinstalled with my windows machine when i bought it, so I never got a cd but for the installation with PlayonLinux it requests a cd. Does anyone know any workarounds to this? Also, I am not trying to get a keygen or anything illegal, as I have a working copy of MS 07 running on the Vista partition of my laptop.
