View 1 RepliesBecause of the configuration of my house, I need two routers.I have a DLink ADSL router as my main router and the Belkin N1 as my repeater.I have set up the IP address in the Belkin to be 10.1.1.10 - my DLink is 10.1.1.1. I have disable the dhcp in the Belkin and set the DNS as ISP provided. [URL]..I have set the channel to 11 and in the Ubuntu Network Manger I have set the IPV4 to Link Local Only. I can see the Belkin and connect with my PC.but it will not take me through to the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just moved to Linux, and I really need some help for my wireless adapter. What I am using is Belkin F6D4050 v2. I think I should use the rt2870sta driver. After 2 days working, my laptop can recognize the wireless adapter now. But it can not find any wireless connections. There are some information. Hope they are useful.

I am a brand new user to Ubuntu(just started today). I am trying to get my Belkin Play(F7D4101 is the model number) to work. It shows up when I use the "lsusb" command, and when i install the driver using ndiswrapper it gives me an error along the lines of "hardware is not ready to use".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop running Ubuntu 10, a D-Link DIR 320 router which allows my laptop and desktop to share printers/internet. I can get my Canon MP250 to print directly from Ubuntu via USB, and it works wireless from laptop, but I don't know how to get it printing via the usb port connected to the router. Documentation suggests I use 192.168.0.1 but just can't figure out what needs to happen to make the darn thing connect!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just recently installed opensuse after being an ubuntu user for about a year. For some reason I can't connect to my Dlink router, but I can connect to my neighbors linksys router. To be more specific it actually connects but acts as if the DNS isn't working. I can ping the router, but can't ping anything past the router. Right now the router is unsecured.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSwitched to Ubuntu a few months ago, love it. However compatability crops up from time to time. I'm trying to access a dlink 655 router used at the motel I'm staying at and it just spins and spins. Does anyone know of a patch that will work?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have experience with the D-LINK DIR-655 gateway OR router OR wireless access point? On the surface, I like this box, but it is giving me grief. First, it wants me to use a win-dose CD configurator application. I use the embedded web page configurator. Next, there are several configuration wizards at the embedded web page. After trying the wizards, I went to the manual screens to tinker to get something working.
So what is going on? When a LAN client connects, I want DHCP to present at least two "nameserver" values ... which then make their way into /etc/resolv.conf The DIR-655 plays some nameserver games like caching and blacklisting and other things. However, I get some ad-vert page from "dnssearch" or "yahoo" or similar when names don't resolve. I really don't want this behavior. Network-manager does not report the connection down, however streaming anything stops or "reconnects", browsing times out, LAN side traffic seems to stop as well.
I recently got a static IP from my ISP. I Have two machines connected to my DLink wireless router. A windows laptop and linux machine runninf centos 5.3. I would like to host an application apache/tomcat based on my linux machine and would like people to access it from the outside. What configurations do I need to make on the Dlink wireless router and my linux box to make it work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new belkin N1 router which I tested in somebody else's flat. It worked fine. When I got home I reset it by pushing a paperclip in the hole for 10+ seconds to erase this flat's internet connection settings (username and password and stuff). After this I plugged it the computer and tried to connect to it (wired connection) using 192.168.2.1 (this is correct for that router, it is not 192.168.0.1). But the browser says it is offline and cannot connect. The lights of the router cycle, the "modem router" light blinks continuously and the others briefly come on and go off again, every few seconds. I tried resetting it again, several times, leaving it off for a few hours, leaving it on for a few hours, etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed 11.04 alongside windows vista. I have been trying to connect my router but it keeps saying disconnected from network. I have ran all of the troubleshooting tips in ubuntu its self and everthing seems in order. is there any settings i need to change on my router or in ubuntu's edit connections programe? I managed to connect to the router once to upgrade from 10.10 to the 11.04 but even before upgrading to 11.04 i had problems connecting to the router.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI joined this forum so I can say my experience with the crappy belkin N150 router. It appears you need to run the setup cd under windows to make the router 'see' the modem. Under linux as someone pointed out you can easily enter the router setup from a browser ( enter 192.168.2.1 ) and connect to the router only (wired or wireless connection) but not the internet. Does anyone have any idea what the windows setup is doing to connect the router to the modem and how to do it under linux in the browser?

Belkin Wireless G router.
Has been working fine. Today it is not. I have done nothing to it. It just keeps saying "Looking up *********" and "Cannot connect to server".
I hard wired the pc to the modem and it works fine. Hard wired the pc to the router it works fine. Running wireless, both of my computers are not connecting.
If I remember, one of the lights on the router should be lit solid, just as it is on the modem. However, all lights are blinking. The only solid light is "power".
Last night I jumped into the linux world and finally installed Ubuntu in a dual boot system with XP on board as well (eventually I want to get rid of this). How can I get my wireless Belkin F5D8233-4 router working. I put the install disk in and it shows on the desktop but unable to execute - keep getting an error message. Getting frustrated...
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had an ATT "2Wire" modem/router that was working but connection to the Internet was often poor. An ATT technician came to my home and swapped out the modem/router for the identical model. I changed the ESSID and WEP code to match the new unit and everything was fine with the following wireless units: a wireless desktop, two cellphones, three wireless Archos tablets, and a couple of e-reader tablets. So all seemed to be fine wirelessly. However...
My laptop (SuSE 11.0, KDE3) simply won't connect no matter what I do. I changed the ESSID and WEP info in the lappy exactly as was done with the other wireless devices named above. But no good. The lappy does see the modem/router (a good, strong signal appears in KNetworkManager). But it seems as if the modem/router is rejecting the lappy's attempted handshake using the new ESSID and/or WEP information.
I thought that perhaps there was something wrong with the lappy's wireless card, so I took it to a Starbucks to see if it would connect there on an open network, and it did without problem. So the lappy's wireless card appears to be working fine. It just won't talk to the encrypted modem/router at home. Here are the settings on the lappy. Hopefully something here is easily identified as the culprit. With all the clicking I've done it certainly is possible that I ticked something that should not have been ticked and just don't realize what I've done.
Network settings screen:
Global options tab:
Network setup method: user controlled with Network Manager
Change default route via DHCP (ticked)

Why won't the new modem/router which is exactly the same as the old one except for the ESSID and WEP work with my lappy yet it does work with a bunch of other wireless devices?
What are the pros and cons of various current model ADSL modem routers for use with DD-WRT, OpenWRT or Tomato? There are, of course, hardware compatibility lists (HCLs) for each of these (DD-WRT, OpenWRT and Tomato) but many of the models are no longer available and there are so many that researching them all would be onerous. Many pages on the Internet recommend the WRTG54L and that would be great but it is no longer an option except second user which is increasingly difficult. What are the pros and cons of the various chipsets: ADM5120, AR7, IXP4xx and BCM63xx?

I bought the Belkin F6D4050 v1 usb wireless adapter so that I could use it on the above laptop and connect to my wireless network at home. The Belkin USB wireless adapter has a Ralink xchipset
There was no specific Linux driver available but a workaround for an old driver worked. Some changes to the code and compiling gets the wireless adapter to work.
I have installed Arch on the laptop. I compiled it and its working fine
Questions 1.Arch linux releases new image only once or twice a year I have downloaded the latest available arch image and built froms scratch. When I update Arch (as it is a rolling release) the kernel also gets updated and the compiled driver fails to work. I have to recompile again for the new kernel. Is there a way I can compile this driver in the existing Arch or any other distro kernel and use as long as I can without updating so I do not have to recompile again
I have a Belkin wireless router model F5D7234-4 version 5. I switched to DHCP long enough to access the router via Firefox browser and look at all the settings. I turned off all encryption and other security related functions in order to just get it going. The IP of the router is 192.168.2.1 which is the default for this router. It is set to channel 6. I can not ping the router from either of two machines using regular ethernet or wireless. I have very limited experience with routers and am in need of help so I can use this for wireless connection to my living room box to my laptop in the bedroom about 50 feet away.
I tried changing the gateway from the living room box IP number to the router IP number with no success. I don't have anything connected to the internet port on the router. The living room box and the laptop are connected to the ethernet ports on the router. Ethernet works fine. Wireless does not. I compiled and installed the drivers for my wireless card on the laptop, a Realtek 8176 which uses the kernel modules rtl8192ce, rtlwifi and mac80211. ifup wlan0 brings up the wlan interface with these modules loaded. Right now I just want to be able to ping the router using regular ethernet. That would tickle me pink at this point. I downloaded the manual but I just can't seem to make headway.
I have a newer Belkin N+ router that has a USB port for accessing an external hard drive.I can access the HD with no problem in Windows.I am new to Linux/Ubuntu and cant seem to connect to the HD. In "Network" I have a folder "Windows Share" and within that folder is where I see the HD "CBHD" (name of my drive). I cant click it because when I do, i get an error message along the lines of (cant remember exactly right now) "Failed to mound"I typically access the drive in Windows via : \192.168.2.1

I recently purchased a TPlink 5 port switch, which for some reason didnt work with windows, only my ubuntu computer, I found a cheap wireless belkin router which also has 4 wired ports. It now works well except that it is slow searching for new servers eg, going to facebook creates a long wait and can even time out but once on the website everything works fast, The connection is 2.89 Mbps which is good for this area and ping is 45ms. What could I do to fix this problem. This affect my ubuntu computer and the windows xp pc as well

According to the Aircrack-ng site, they support packet injection and monitor mode. Is master mode support solely up to the driver used with the card, or does the card have to physically support it?
