View 5 RepliesAt the moment I use Rhythmbox to acces my music and my iPod 5G. I would however like to use Banshee, but in Banshee all my iPod 5G-music is displayed under the video folder, while the music folder is empty. Any idea why?And also I have several albums with different artists on them, which gets spread out on i.e. 10 single albums even though they belong to the same album. This happens - as far as I can tell - after I've accessed the iPod from Rhythmbox (which is part of the reason why I wanna use Banshee).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several files that are from an Ipod that I still have and has worked great with Banshee up until now. All of the sudden, Banshee will not play m4p files. I have Ubuntu Restricted Extras installed, and when I try to play them with Movie Player, it says that it cannot play an encrypted file stream.
View 3 Replies View Relatedim wondering if this is possible. I have downloaded every gstreamer plugin possible and they still dont play.im running ubuntu 9.10
View 5 Replies View Relatedusing 11.04/Natty, Banshee is 2.0.0-2ubuntu1 from repos. Is there any way to disable gnome-screensaver when Banshee is playing?Looks like this was possible in Banshee 1.x if Banshee was fullscreen, but in Natty with 2.x , appears that screensaver still activates.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm literally banging my head against my computer desk now, because i'm really frustrated about Banshee Or Rhythembox not putting all my songs onto the ipod. I have 930 songs, and they only put 303 songs onto the Ipod. I manually put them in, and still wont work. This is really upsetting. It used to work so perfectly in 10.04, but it's not workin in 10.10.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Lenny for about a year now, but for some reason Xine has suddenly stopped playing mkv files. It plays everything else including flash. I only started using xine because the mkv files for some reason suffer from a lag between the video and audio in mplayer. I tried installing banshee and vlc but neither of them show video. So I was left with only Xine and it worked perfectly then it suddenly stops playing mkv. Is there something I need to install or remove, reconfigure? Do I just delete the Xine config folder in my home-folder? Lenny being what it is I can only install what is on the out-dated Lenny repos trying anything else like the unstable releases simply wants to uninstall my entire system.
My machine specs are:
Acer Aspire 8930
Intel Centrino 2
NVidia geforce 9600m GS 512mb
RAM 4GB
I have the proprietary nVidia graphics drivers installed. So it is powerful enough.
Both Banshee and Rhythmbox crash, leaving a segmentation fault in the terminal, after playing a song for less than a second. I do manage to get some sound before they crash. This problem seems to have begun only a couple of days ago after doing an update. Unfortunately I was playing playing around with moving my music collection to an NFS share around the same time as the update so I can't be sure which action it was that broke music playback.
Because both Banshee and Rhythymbox are affected and showing identical behaviour I think the problem is gstreamer. Reinstalling everything I could find in synaptic related to gstreamer had no effect.
Some general information:
- My music collection is in FLAC but other formats seem to cause the same behaviour.
- Music from an NFS share or my external USB drive causes the same behaviour
- VLC plays music from my NFS share without any problems
- Removing ubuntu-one (as suggested in some posts) did not help
- I'm using Ubuntu Desktop 10.10 x86
I've had no luck searching the interwebs for help thus far. Does anyone have any ideas?
I am trying to get music which was originally on iTunes into banshee, such that I can transfer "ownership" from a Mac onto Ubuntu, and still sync with my iPhone 3GS. Every piece of this music came from CDs which I still own and have collected since CDs were something most people hadn't heard of, but I seriously do not want to sit there and scan in hundreds of CDs again when I already have them in digital form.
I've tried several things, including dragging and dropping from a USB stick. So I've been getting duplicates, and in the process I deleted an album in order to start over. Now I can't get that album back no matter what. It's like it's black listed or something. I can try to load it from the USB stick, I can copy the containing folder from the USB stick to some place on my hard drive, anything. It knows I deleted it once upon a time and it refuses to touch it.
I am looking for music player like banshee but do not want mono . Banshee unfortunately requires mono
[Code]...
Obviously have not given all all the deps, but the last 7 odd ones tell you what I mean. If anybody knows of any good music player which has similar functionality as banshee lemme know. Look for two things:-
a. Should be able to play all and any music format (have all the plugins)
b. Should be able to close it and have it in the system tray playing in the background.
What do I need to do, to make music play in banshee?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Banshee 1.7.3 from the OMG OpenSUSE link:
Banshee brings the Amazon Store to Linux | OMG! SUSE!
I can open Banshee, but now I get a red X beside all of my songs when I try to play them. I have checked to make sure that no codecs were removed, and they all look appear to be installed. Missing my music.
I installed Banshee and upgraded it but I don't see the Amazon Music Store.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a server (running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) that has mt-daapd sharing all my music. I just recently changed all my desktops over to Fedora 15 from Mint 11 & came up with something I wasn't sure how to fix. When the desktops had Mint 11 on them if you opened Rhythmbox the mt-daapd share showed up on the left without me having to do anything (under Shared Music). Now that I have switched over to Fedora, I don't see that heading or my mt-daapd shares.I have tried Rhythmbox & Banshee. I can connect to it & play music, but I would like for it to just show up & I can't for the life of me figure this out.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using C++ and Gtk to make a music player. I was looking for some library that will allow me to play a music file, preferably mp3, wav, aac, and more if possible. Also, how can I get info on the file like the artist, album, genre, etc. Hopefully the library will do that also.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running ubuntu 9.04. I'm able to mount data and MP3 audio CDs but I'm unable to mount and play regular audio CDs. When I try to mount it I get the following message:
Unable to mount Audio Disc Drive /dev/sr0 does not contain audio files.
Windows does not have any problems playing either the regular audio CDs or audio MP3 CDs.
My PPC iMac G3, 600 MHz, 768 MB ram machine (blue box) machine has 16 MB video ram and 256 MB backside L2 cache. When I insert a music CD, it doesn't seem to recognize it. Nor does an icon appear on the screen indicating that I loaded a disk. When I insert a movie, Lucid waits a moment, spins the disk, then ejects it after about 60 sec. Data disks act similarly, but no ejection. Disk spins momentarily, no icon appears on desktop, disk does not eject, No further action.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Banshee and would like to set it as my default music player. Currently, when I plug in my iPod, Rythmbox auto loads and then Banshee cannot access the device. Is there a way to go about changing this setup so when I plug in the iPod, it's Banshee that loads it and not Rythmbox?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Ubuntu 10.04 desktop PC (desktop) that I access remotely, i.e. with no monitor and keyboard attached. I do this by making an ssh connection to "desktop" from my laptop (also running Ubuntu 10.04).
I have all my music stored on "desktop" and I want to play this remotely through the soundcard on "desktop" which is attached to a hi-fi amplifier, from my laptop.
I tried running, say, rhythmbox, on "desktop" through ssh X11 forwarding to my laptop but cannot play music - it says that the right codes are not installed although they are because I can use rhythmbox on "desktop" directly (attaching a monitor and keyboard to it).
I have windows and ubuntu on same pc. I recently installed ubuntu on a partition other than windows. When I tried to play an mp3 file in ubuntu, it started downloading file and plugins. After the download, the program started playing the music but I could not hear any sound. I have no problem in playing music in windows and the speakers are working fine. Do I need to download some plugins or any software for ubuntu linux? If yes, how and from where? And how to install that? Or is there any other problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with it for months, assuming some bug fix would just happen, but it hasn't, so here I am.The general symptom is that I can sit listening to music for around 20-60 minutes, using audacious/banshee/whatever, and the music will make a crackling noise and suddenly stop. Killing pulseaudio and the application remedies the problem, but obviously that's not a solution.I have a ca0106 sound card. [edit: originally had emu10k1 here -- that's a sound card I have that's unused in the same system.]
/var/log/messages usually indicates a message like this, or something similar:
Mar 6 00:22:29 localhost pulseaudio[4872]: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_avail() returned a value that is exceptionally large: 18446744073709542688 bytes (384307168155 ms).

I have compiled Bluez 4.50 for arm and have installed it. The bluetoothd daemon is running fine. But when I enabled the blueoothd -nd & i get an error saying, Failed to access HAL. After a bit of digging, i tried installing hal on the board in vain. The hcitool scan runs fine and shows all the devices in the vicinity. I compiled agent.c from the test folder and am using it to pair in command line because i donot have python on the board. I see the packets getting txd and rxd in the hcidump when i try to pair with the headset. even the light in the headset changes after pairing. but i donot hear any sound when i play a *.wav file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having intermittent problems where the screen will freeze in Ubuntu. I've tried using Ctrl + Alt + Backspace to restart the X-server, though this does nothing. When the freeze occurs, there's a small square of black dashes around the mouse pointer - maybe 1 inch in size. These dashes look a lot like a 2d barcode. The rest of the screen looks normal, but I can't move the mouse and none of the keyboard shortcuts work to do anything. However, music that I begin playing before the freeze continues to play, which seems to indicate it hasn't stalled up completely.
I've noticed a similar freezing problem when I'm using Windows 7. That is, I see the same barcode like dashes around the mouse pointer when it freezes up. So I'm guessing it's either a driver or hardware problem. I thought if it was a hardware problem though, the whole computer might stop working (i.e. music would stop playing)? The video card I am using is an Nvidia, and I believe it's in the 7600 range. In Ubuntu I have the drivers for the card set to the latest available (proprietary). Ideally I'd like to be able to continue using the proprietary drivers. Is there any known issues with the drivers for this model graphics card
There is a piece of streaming music I want, when I open it, the song plays using totem browser plug in. Is there a way I can capture the song and keep it as a file (or put it on my mp3 player), preferably without downloading anything.
