I am trying to access my music folder in my OSX partition but every time I click double click on it I get an error message that says "You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "Music".

What should the syntax look like when I put it in Scheduled tasks. I want this to be as simple as possible.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I use Rhythmbox to acces my music and my iPod 5G. I would however like to use Banshee, but in Banshee all my iPod 5G-music is displayed under the video folder, while the music folder is empty. Any idea why?And also I have several albums with different artists on them, which gets spread out on i.e. 10 single albums even though they belong to the same album. This happens - as far as I can tell - after I've accessed the iPod from Rhythmbox (which is part of the reason why I wanna use Banshee).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro 5,5 with Ubuntu 9.10 installed using rEFIt. When I mount the Macintosh HD in Ubuntu, I am unable to access any of the folders under Users, except Public. I tried changing the permissions in OSX, setting "Read and Write" for "Everyone" on a couple of folders, and, when I log back into Ubuntu, I can see that those are the permissions for the folder, but Ubuntu still tells me that I do not have permission to access the folder. I've tried setting the folder to share, thinking that this must be the reason that I can access Public with no problems, but it didn't work.
I've browsed the internet extensively, and the only thread I could find related to the issue was by someone who had the exact same problem as me (I don't know if they had the same macbook though), and it was never solved (the only advice given was to either change the Ubuntu user number, or change the permissions of the folder).
I have installed a new hard drive and partitioned some space that I am wanting to use for keeping my Music files on. I have entered a line into the /etc/fstab file that I believe mounts the partition properly, but it is giving root owner ship of the partition. Is there a better way of doing this? perhaps mounting the drive some where else and using a hard link? the line I have so far in my fstab is
/dev/sdb1 /home/me/Music ext4 defaults,user 0 2
But this is still sowing the drive on my desktop, it also replaces the the name of Music in my places with the fact that it is a drive of such a size.
I have installed 10.04 on my MacBook Pro 6,2, and am trying to access some files stored in my User directory on the OS X partition of the laptop. I get a permission-denied error, but I figured this was a similar issue to the one mentioned in the stickied "How to Install Ubuntu 9.04 on Intel-Based Macs" thread.However, the suggest fix,Code:sudo usermod -u 501 -g 20 richarddoesn't exactly work for me. I tried this, but found myself suddenly logged out of my main account. On the log-in screen, only my second account showed up. Luckily, I was able to log into that, and re-usermod my main account back to it's original userid number.I am guessing that my strange error had to do with the abnormal (for ubuntu, at least) userid?

It recognized my windows partition fine and I was able to get all my files off of that, but the majority of my stuff is on the ext4 partition that I have on it. Does anyone know how to access the ubuntu partition of this hard drive from my mac?

In the mpd configuration file I have to point to the directory in which the music is.
How do I do that? Is it something to do with mount?
I know a few months ago no one had figured out how to add music to the new iphone with linux. Anyone have any luck on this yet?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy PPC iMac G3, 600 MHz, 768 MB ram machine (blue box) machine has 16 MB video ram and 256 MB backside L2 cache. When I insert a music CD, it doesn't seem to recognize it. Nor does an icon appear on the screen indicating that I loaded a disk. When I insert a movie, Lucid waits a moment, spins the disk, then ejects it after about 60 sec. Data disks act similarly, but no ejection. Disk spins momentarily, no icon appears on desktop, disk does not eject, No further action.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using ubuntu server 9.10 for a home build NAS. Everything is working great just have one more thing to figure out. I have Samba set up to access my files and I set up a recycle feature so anything deleted will get moved to a Recycled folder. (I learned this the hard way after hitting delete key by accident while browsing the shares in windows. Lost 100 GB of data)
Now it is for the most part working but the permissions on folders isn't getting set right. If I delete a file in a share I can go to Recycle bin folder and delete the file for good. But if I delete a folder I can not access that folder to delete or restore from the Recycle bin folder. I have to chmod the folder before I can do anything with it. Anything I can change to get folders deleted via windows to have the right permissions when it is moved to the Recycle bin folder?

I have a debian box on my home network in use as a file server. if an Apple TV would be able to connect to it to get movies and music? I suppose I'd have to install apple file sharing or something like that. Incidentally
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I get my partitions listed in the terminal or in GParted they go up sequentially to sda7 as they should. The media folder in my file system shows the other dual boot OS and a data disk partition, both mounted, which is correct. All good. But there is a third strange folder titled sda8 however I have no such partition. /etc/fstab shows no sda8 either. When I open /media/sda8, it shows no files, says its empty and lists an empty available space that equals the empty space on the Linux OS partition in which the folder sits. But no pie chart shown, and it belongs to root. I changed the permission and found I can save files to it.

Anyway, one of the things it lets you do is sort and import your libraries by practically any format you could find imaginable. I have that program setup to import and store my music in the following format:
G:Tunes<Genre><Album Artist><Album><Track Number> - <Track Artist> - <Track Title>.<Extension>
Is there a way to change the default setups in whatever music program I choose to use? It seems to be the same no matter what program I use if it's a GNOME-based program. I've used Banshee and Rhythmbox, but both only leave me with the following options:

I've created a new user for a SSH tunnel only.After login I can access all directories because permissions is set for "Others" to "Access files".Now my question: Is this normal that permissions for Folder access for "Others" is always set to "Access files"?I don't want my SSH tunnel user accessing the directories.

So I held down option, loaded into osx, reinstalled rEFIt and got my menu on startup. Unfortunately, the partition sync tool doesn't seam to be working, it gives me an error: Status: MBR partition table is invalid, partitions overlap. Error: Not Found returned from gptsync.efi

I want to rename them so as to be indicative of the bitrate, for example, "Zombie Ritual - 2004 - Night Of The Zombie Party" => "Zombie Ritual - 2004 - Night Of The Zombie Party (@320)". It will be hard to do this manually. I tried to use EasyTag and Kid3 to do this, but they cannot add bitrate to tags.
