I have installed xmms player on ubuntu 8.04 it works fine but it doesn't shows menu on right click on player, menu list displays but will blank.

I am thinking of using rsync to sync my Music folder to another folder called Music on an external USB drive. I will be using the Scheduled Tasks front end to schedule the syncs. What should the syntax look like when I put it in Scheduled tasks. I want this to be as simple as possible.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I use Rhythmbox to acces my music and my iPod 5G. I would however like to use Banshee, but in Banshee all my iPod 5G-music is displayed under the video folder, while the music folder is empty. Any idea why?And also I have several albums with different artists on them, which gets spread out on i.e. 10 single albums even though they belong to the same album. This happens - as far as I can tell - after I've accessed the iPod from Rhythmbox (which is part of the reason why I wanna use Banshee).

It does that for all of the folders I have listed under places. If I open a mounted partition from my desktop it works fine and launched the file manager.
For about a week or two when I try to open a folder from the menu "Places" of Gnome 2.32.0 (with Fedora 14 OS) the program Rythmbox starts instead. This happens even when I try to access a connected harddrive which requires entry of a code. After entering the code again Rythmbox opens! This doesn't happen only with "Computer", "Network" and "Connect to Server" of "Places". I can't think of anything that I did (apart from using Rythmbox quite often recently) that could have caused this, so I assume that it is a bug of Gnome. Have other people encountered this problem? (I assume that it is not Fedora specific, but rather a general problem of Gnome) If so,

i am using Fedora 14. Once system get hanged during opening a video file so I had to restart the system by pressing restart button. But after restarting there are few problems appearing like system monitor not opening and Thunder bird opening but not showing any folder including inbox.

Looks like SElinux has stopped working
I've had an awkward problem lately: every music player I use wants to instead of play music from my USB external hard drive, stream music from it. I have no idea why it suddenly started doing that. It may have been an accidental key-combo I pressed, thinking I had another window targeted and didn't bother pressing it again for my Totem music player. So I closed out of Totem in hopes that Rythmbox would work like totem used to. Well, it doesn't. It wants to stream music now.The problem with the streaming music is trivial, but here it is: I have a playlist with a little over 300 songs. I have Totem set to shuffle and repeat my music. Streaming music with it makes it just stop randomly after a few songs, and when I try to pause music and play it later it takes a good 30 seconds before it kicks back in at the beginning of the song.Like I always ask because I don't know enough to give back to the community yet, can anyone help me? Thanks.

In the mpd configuration file I have to point to the directory in which the music is.
How do I do that? Is it something to do with mount?

I can't move it. Right-click menu on a rectangle coincides with a right-click on desktop. It does not prevent, but very annoying.
When I click on the Ibus icon, I always get a message:

I'm brand new to Linux and Ubunto 10.04.On the menu bar at the top of my desktop I seem to have attracted some kind of bug!The Log Out Symbol repeats itself across almost the entire menu bar and I cannot remove it. If I remove other buttons from the menu the space is immediately replaced by more Log Out Buttons.When I hover on the icon I get the message 'Log out of this session to log in as a different user' and when I right-cllick to click on 'Remove from Panel' or 'Move' nothing happens.It is not possible to right-click on another part of the menu bar to change the Menu Properties.

Problem is that I cant click on dropbox, caffeine, battery indicator, wlan or sound indicator until I first click on messages menu and slide over to appindicator that I need. When screenlets appindicator is not present there is no problem. Its the same when I had Jupiter installed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem with my browser(s), even Epiphany....when I go to my music site [URL] then log in, go to my page and click on link to play a song the browser Crashes. It never did this before and I dont know what I could have done to cause this. It only does this on this website. Could it be that they use a Quicktime plugin to play the music? I don't know cause I used to be able to play music on there before. It doesnt do this on my Reverbnation site page, just Icompositions. If I click on the icon to restart browser a box comes up saying "we're sorry"...your browser crashed for no apparent reason.....and offers a choice to either reload the page (that repeatedly crashes) or start new session. It isn't a big deal but this never used to happen before. Could it be some bad code on that website?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI came home, having left Evolution running all day, to find it frozen and unresponsive. I killed it, opened it back up... and same thing. It opens, checks through my folders (I have one imap account, and one MH folder that Evolution dumps my pop mail into.) and freezes.
In the status bar, when it freezes, this is what it's doing:
Opening folder mh:///home/katia/mail;command=ssh%20-C%20-l%20%25u%20%25h%20exec%20/usr/sbin/imapd#inbox(...)
And then it just hangs.
If I disable my MH folder real quick, it doesn't hang and I can use my imap account fine. Re-enabling my MH folder quickly causes the hang again.
I tried opening the MH folder in clawsmail, but it hung also. Mutt was able to open it fine.
I have problem regarding when a application is started from the menu-line. If I for example start wxmaxima though Menu -> Science -> Wxmaxima, then the menu-bar is gone. I can access the menu-bar by pressing F10, but the menubar never shows up!
I have the same experience with emacs 23, where the menu-bar starts as it should, but whenever I change major (or minor) mode, the new menu-item appears, but I cannot access the menu-item (it is just blank). As before, whenever I go though F10 the menuitem shows up as it should.
Same goes for eclipse.
Instead of starting the applications though the Menu -> ..., I tried to start them in the terminal instead. Then the applications do not suffer from this menubar behaviour.
I went to open documents but when I clicked it went straight to the movie player. Any folder I try to open when I search file takes me to the player and says it cant open a text document. What did I do wrong and how do I fix it?

The multimedia hotkeys (play/pause, stop, volume up/down, volume mute, ecc) stop working when i open any menu (for example mintmenu, that i use, or any menu of firefox like bookmarks) or if i start an application, such as openarena. The major problem is for volumes keys, that stop working in these cases.
Any ideas? I tried to change keyboard model, disable hotkeys mapped in prefereces->keyboard shortcut (with this they just stop working), but nothing changed.
A strange problem has cropped up with gnome on 9.10 amd64. Everything seems fine until I open a folder of JPG images. The window opens, starts filling in the icons and then POOF everything disappears except the desktop background. I have to restart X with CTL-ALT-BACKSPACE. It happens every time. I have used this folder many times in the past without problem. The folder's contents appear ordinary - see below:
