View 3 Replies View RelatedI've never really bothered about installing themes etc., to KDE and I've always just used the standard KDE setup so I am a bit of a newbie when it comes themes. But I was out the other day with a mate and he had got his Macbook and I quite liked the Bottom of the screen quick launch bar they have. Is there a program or widget I can install to KDE 4.4.4. So I can have a Mac style quick launch bar? And hopefully something that wont use to many system resources.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just loaded KNE 10.4 onto my Dell Mini and I'm trying to get it configured. Some apps that I have installed using Synaptic (Kpackage seems pretty useless, even aside from the fact that the package names are illegible) are not showing up in the Search and Launch, and I would also like to add an additional category and add some items to the favorites list at the top of the page.
Right clicking does not seem to provide any options to change what used to be the menus, and middle clicking puts strange little yellow boxes at the bottom of the screen. (I haven't figured out how to make those go away. What config files hold the data I want to update? Are they not under ~/.kde for some reason?
Is it possible to add items to the Add to Panel menu to increase it's functionality and offer more options?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04 all of a sudden, the task manager or task bar, keeps changing length. The individual window "buttons" themselves keep changing size - flashing even, and the space between them also changes. It is driving me nuts! The little system tray(?) icons no longer appear in the system tray, but all stacked on top of each other in the top left corner.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have my task list in evolution (mainly so it can sync with my phone and online task list) but I always forget to look at the task list. Is there an application or plugin which periodically displays the contents of the tasklist or even better, it briefly displays the most urgent/important tasks when I login? Or anything else which automatically displays the most important tasks. Currently I have to open the task list and look at them (which I usually forget). I do not mean some kind of alarm when the task is due but more a daily reminder of what to do.

Perhaps there is something on the net about this, however I couldn't find the correct keywords (and there are many other but similar problems) and didn't find anything. You know that when logging in, if you enter a wrong password, you'll have to wait a few seconds before giving it another try to avoid bruteforcing. However, when I enter the correct password in 11.04, it makes me wait a few seconds and then loads my desktop (fluxbox in my case, but the same problem remains in Unity).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 11.04 on two machines; older dell desktop and an acer laptop. I have loaded quick synergy on both but can't get it to work. I have followed the install guides using proper server/client names in appropriate boxes etc. Removed and re-installed and still no luck. One question does multiple work spaces which seems to be a default setting interfere with quick synergy? Maybe there is an easy explanation to this problem but I haven't found one so far and have been searching the net for a couple of days.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my computer to Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid. Whenever I open Synaptic Package Manager it opens normally. If I type into the "Quick search" box, when I try to type in a word as soon as I type the second letter Synaptic immediately closes. However, if I click on the full "Search" button, this function works as it should. I just can't use Quick Search. Synaptic closes every time.
I uninstalled synaptic from a terminal by typing [CODE] apt-get remove synaptic. Then I reinstalled using [CODE] apt-get install synaptic. Reinstalling did not fix the problem. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
What is the code snippet required to get an image to repeat vertically up a page? I can only find info relating to repeating *background* images in my search attempts, and this is just a regular image file which I want to repeat over the pre-existing page background. I'd like it to repeat all the way up the extreme left hand edge of the page. Say the image is called abd.jpg and is in the same folder as the index.html.
View 14 Replies View RelatedLaunchy is a great piece of software, I use it on Windows mainly for quickly accessing folders. I love its auto-indexing in the background, and hardly ever browse through folders manually these days, solves me lots of time.
On Linux (Ubuntu 9.10), I usually "live" in the terminal, however. Therefore, Launchy on Linux (or Gnome Do, or its other replacements) are not what I need - as it opens the file manager, and I don't need the file manager.
What I do need is something that indexes my folders and lets me cd into them quickly in the terminal. For example:

Well i can see the video but the microphone (build in the webcam ) does not work at all and it worked fine with windows. This is the lsusb command in the terminal :
