How do I get my X300 ATI PCIE card to show in Hardware Drivers so the driver will work? I installed the drivers from the Ubuntu software Center. I am using Ubuntu 10.4.
View 7 RepliesWell I've been trying to get drivers installed for this card for a few days now and I can't get anything to work. The proprietary drivers for this card don't support the xorg version installed in F14. I've tried mesa and ati drivers but I can't get them to actually work, they both just cause x to crash during startup. I've looked through the threads for ati drivers but they all seem to talk about using the latest catalyst drivers and thus non of them have helped me much.

I want to install the video drivers and sound drivers for my laptop..When i installed fedora 9 my screen resolution was 1366x768 but suddenly now my resolution is 1024x768. When I try to play video with totem, it doesn't output any error, but just doesn't play video.

I tried several different files, which works perfectly in windows and ubuntu.
I installed windows binary codecs for mplayer to /usr/lib/codec/
I just upgraded to lynx but my nvidia drivers only say "173" and "recommended" as the two options. no idea which version the "recommended" one is but that's what is enabled. I did an update but still it does not show the 195 drivers that I thought I read were shipping with lucid.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an ATI Mobility Radeon x1800 graphic card and I am trying to install it to Ubuntu 10.10. I managed to install Ubuntu with nomodeset but the resolution was very bad and that's why I am trying to install the ATI drivers. I have deleted the xorg.conf file, installed the ati drivers through package manager and changed nomodeset to radeon.modeset=1 but when I am trying the commands glxinfo | grep render and glxinfo | grep vendor they don't shown the ATI drivers and the resolution is still bad. Does anyone what to do?

I've just been trying to troubleshoot a problem by installing and activating the proprietary BCM4318 drivers instead of the ones that came with Maverick.I used System-Administration-Additional Drivers to install the new drivers. As far as I can tell from lsmod and URL... the new drivers are known as b43.It didn't occur to me to run lsmod prior to this, and now I'm curious - what would the non-proprietary drivers that came with Maverick have shown as in the lsmod output?

I have a strange problem: Due to my small monitor I have set the gnome panels on top and bottom to auto hide. After installing the nvidia drivers the panels do not appear if I go to the edges with my mouse. If I switch the resolution to VGA (640x480) however, the panels appear again, but not at top/ bottom but in the middle of the screen.

Okay, so I have Skype installed, and it has worked fine in the past. I have been able to chat with my girlfriend on it. We can see each other and both talk. I haven't used it in probably 3 or 4 months. I tried to use it last night and for some reason, I could not see her on the video. It would just show up as a white box where the video should be. She could see me, and we could hear each other. I already had her test with somebody else to check if her video output was okay, and it worked just fine.
I read something that Cairo Dock could somehow be affecting it, but I haven't tested this theory. I can't see how the two could be related.
I have a TV Card from K-World. So i searched many applications for TV featuring MythTV , Zapping but they did not show any video/sound. I Found TVTime and it was okay , but it didn't show sound.

I had the idea to make an inranet for me and my housemates.... i have an extensive video collection mostly in .avi and .mkv. i would like to make a page which diplays this video and lets you select from a playlist/browse the directory, howeve i didn't really want to have to recode all the video to flv.
is there a way i can do with VLC? i have looked about and the vlcwebplayer just looks like another flash player... does it support VLC recoding on the fly? or am i missing *something*

My vlc player does not show video of a movie but plays audio of that file crystal clear !! See the attached screenshot!!

Just did an upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 through the update manager and now I can't boot into the OS. I receive these two errors:

After these two errors. Screen flashes with the red/white loading circles and Ubuntu logo. After that just goes into a black screen.

So my Microsoft Lifecam NX-3000 used to work with 9.04, but I can't seem to get anything from it now (Xubuntu 9.10). It still shows up fine when i enter lsusb, but it won't show up as a video device anywhere else. I have faith that this bug is a simple fix for someone who knows what they're doing, but unfortunately I don't. If it's relevant this is on my aging Toshiba Satellite.
View 4 Replies View Relatedafter upgrading to 10.10 I ran into one problem. Upgraded some while ago (when released), then noticed problem but now it starts to really bother me. Unfortunately didn't find any solution yet. I'm 100% sure I didn't have such problem during upgrades starting from Karmic till Lucid.
The problem is with any version of wine (it's not wine issue, i think) and MetaTrader4 on it. Not typical VNC issue The problem is that it works almost normally, but don't show some lines on screen. Take a look at screenshot attached. I found in wine proposal to disable xrender: [URL]... it really helps with that issue, but then I ran in typical AplhaBlend problem and no visible icons in toolbars. So I have to choose to see normal icons in toolbars (see 2nd screenshot) or to see correct chart

VLC started to playing only the audio and not the video, I tried setting the video preferences but all video outputs didn't work. How do I get my video back.
I tried to boot from a Fedora 12 installation DVD. My machine configuration is:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4
Display Card: X300 PCI-E 128MB
After the "Welcome to Fedora 12!" screen, I then click on either: Install or upgrade an existing system [or] Install system with basic video driver [both display the same following screen and then the machine halt on] Loading vmlinuz . Loading initrd.img . .ready. Probing EDD (edd=off to disable) ... ok The number and cap lock have no responses. When I changed to another display card, it has no problem at all.
I'm experiencing video lag in games. I'm using 10.04 lts 32 bit and the latest version of proprietary drivers. For example I play hon and so and then it freezes for a small period of time which is frustrating.
