View 2 RepliesThis is a super tiny detail that most people probably don't even notice, but why is the show desktop button icon cut off? It looks really weird.
I don't think it was like that in 9.10. Is there any way to fix it?
I have been trying to active the shortcut <Super>+D to minimize all active windows and show desktop. Compiz is already install on my system, that I have tried all possible combinations of "show desktop" functionality in Compiz and Gnome itself. However, whenever I use the shortcut, it activates(maximize) one window first, and it shows desktop if I use the shortcut second time. Actually same thing happens when I press the "show desktop" button on the panel as well

I copied the theme from usr/share into my .themes folder so I don't mess with the original, and then I just changed the name to Blue Ambiance and changed the appropriate .png files I found in the metacity folder to blue. When I select this new them in my appearance menu though nothing changes.

I am running Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex dual-booting with Vista for work purposes. I have been running the two successfully for quite a few months now and am just getting to grips with it. I have lost my desktop at start-up. I get all the way past the Login to a blank desktop background (just colour - no image) and the only thing visible is a Terminal window. As I am not familiar with Linux command lines I can't do very much. I have even tried reinstalling Ubuntu which showed no error messages that I noticed but, I have the same result. At the moment I have used Supergrub to allow me to boot straight to Vista till I get things sorted out.

When I try to log in via UltraVNC from Windows XP, on Ubuntu server a little window pops up, asking me to allow or refuse this "invader", so I click Allow and I really have full control on that machine. However, when I dont have any devices I wouldnt be able to click this Allow button, but will have to have full control. So, my question is how to autoclick this Allow button? Or when I try to log in the ubuntu machine, it would automatically give me full control?

I have tried looking for options in the Appearance and Windows options in Menu-system-preferences but cant find anything, that could be used to enable or disable this feature. Secondly, since upgrading to the current version of Ubuntu I have been missing the volume control button usually located by the date/wireless/ Power off button/ icons on the panel located top right of screen.
