Do color settings in the desktop environment affect color in the web browser? Thanks.
I need to do to make my VI scripts better formatted. The colorized commands, etc.., and the indents where necessary. Hope this question makes sense. I am running Fedora and Redhate Ent 5.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using the screen app, and have set bce to on, and issued the following commands to set my background and foreground color: tput setab 4; clear; tput setaf 7; clear;
This temporarily sets everything properly on my screen. However, when I issue any commands that change or set their own background color (for example, when I issue an "ls" command with colorized output), the background color gets lost for any new output and I have to reissue the commands listed above in order to retrieve my background color.Ideally I'd like to keep my background color when issuing these commands, as it serves as a good way to remind me of what environment I am currently issuing commands in.
What is your favorite 256-color color scheme for vim?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP color laser printer and I am looking for a way to print black as black instead of using tri-color. For example If I print a document that has colored text then any black text is printed using the color cartridges rather then using black. I have been surviving by using windows XP in virtualbox but I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I've looked all over then net for a solution but I've found nothing. I remember having similar problems like this with older Macs because of postscript printing and I'm thinking this is the same problem but I don't know how to fix it. I've searched the forums as well but no joy.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've installed Xubuntu 10.10 on my old PC and I'd like to get Compiz working. I have a vision problem and I've found its desktop zoom and color inversion plugins to be rather helpful.
I am using Xubuntu. My computer is a custom build PC with a 1.2GHz AMD Athlon XP, 1GB of PC2700 RAM, 8x AGP Nvidia Geforce FX 5600 card w/256MB DDR-RAM, IDE 160GB hard drive, Sound Blaster Live 5.1, and 16x DVD-RW.
Has anyone gotten Compiz to work with XFCE and how can I get this to work?
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex dual-booting with Vista for work purposes. I have been running the two successfully for quite a few months now and am just getting to grips with it. I have lost my desktop at start-up. I get all the way past the Login to a blank desktop background (just colour - no image) and the only thing visible is a Terminal window. As I am not familiar with Linux command lines I can't do very much. I have even tried reinstalling Ubuntu which showed no error messages that I noticed but, I have the same result. At the moment I have used Supergrub to allow me to boot straight to Vista till I get things sorted out.

I tried several options for RDC like -a 16 for 16 bit graphics, but to no avail.What can I do, to have a better Remote Desktop environment? One thing I have not done, is install the Xserver Via Chrome Custom X server on the LTSP server?

I installed Ubuntu Ultimate, everything is fine but the desktop color is ugly, I changed theme but some background is still ugly, its default colors are all dark blue.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to Debian Jessie. I'm having a problem with the desktop and lockscreen that I never had before in Debian 7. Whenever I open the laptop to wake it up, there is very bad discoloration of the background. (screenshot : [URL] ..... )
Hardware is an IBM Lenovo T410 with no customizations. The graphics are factory nvidia. 3D acceleration works flawlessly, and I have no other issues except this background problem.

I installed Gnome desktop environment recently then ;I' ve lost KDE desktop effects settings. I just can see Compiz Configirator. I cant configure effects independently. There is same settings in gnome and kde. And also I cant change windows appearence.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently set up ubuntu 9.1 via virtualbox and am having some issues getting things startedFirst issue is when I boot up the virtual machine a warning box pops up saying virtualbox is optimized for 32 bit color and the OS is running 16 bit color. Some google searches revealed that for linux 24 bit color is what I want, but most suggested I edit the xorg.conf file to 24 bit depth. Problem is when I try to open that file it's blank. Further reading seemed to indicate that the most recent versions of ubuntu no longer use the xorg.conf file, so how would I go about switching from 16 bit to 24 bit color? Not a major issue but still annoying.

As I go through such as /sbin what does the color of the commands mean, like arch is green, awk is blue, and then there is those that have a red background such as cgexec?Then I go into /etc and then there's yum.repos.d there is no man for it, so I typed it in and got "command not found", so then I went in SU mode and "vi yum.repos.d and I get "yum.repos.d" is a directory,No such file or directory. So just what is yum.repos.d, I thought this is where I add more repositories.

This make it very difficult to see if the blackground color is black color. How could i change color setting in vi or vim ? I want to change the blue color to cyan.

When I restarted the machine, everything went from black to light grey. Even NetworkManager went from the three or four curves to the pair of blue monitor computers. How do I restore the desktop environment settings?Since things changed after a command-line instruction, feel free to post the appropriate command-line instruction.

I use a terminal with white text on black background (I just like it better), so I wrote the following line in my .vimrc file: set background=dark
However, gvim has black on white text. How do I do either of the following: Set the background of gvim to black Check in .vimrc if I'm using gvim I tried this: I started up gvim, and typed echo &term. The answer was "builtin_gui". So I wrote the following into .vimrc:

Somehow, it didn't work.
I use cygwin on Windows7 to open a ssh session to my linux box. When I edit a file with vim, I don't have color, only kind of gray bold. I have colors when I do a ls into my ssh session. I have also colors when I edit files from a ssh session from my linux box to my linux box. I modified the shortcut on Window7 to run cygwin in 256 colors, no effect. Do I need to set an environment variable on my cygwin session ?
