I have installed phpldapadmin 1.2.0.5 Using commands in shell I have added two users and some groups into a base (ldif-file) and I see them in phpldapadmin. But when I try to add users or groups by using graphical interface (phpldapadmin) I can't do this correctly because I can't to select a type of new entry and I see a tip "classes of objects from XML does not support LDAP-server". So I can't to create a new entry by using graphical interface. Here is my slapd.conf

I have and RHEL5.4 conecceted to an SAN HSV200. When I present a LUN to it, In system-confg-lvm gui appears a device like /dev/mapth/mapth0 (that�s the correct device to multipath) and other like /dev/sda or /dev/dm-N, as uninitialized entities. How could I configure to not display this device (/dev/sda) and prevent human errors?
This is the things I need:
1- I want (if it is posible...) to disappear the part where it says "uninitialized entities"
2- Is It necesary mantain the partitioning done to default (like /dev/mapper/mpath0p1) with device-mapper-multipath (kpartx command)? or Can I delete it without future problems?

why i can't login on the ldap-client via ldap, so here is a short description of my machines (i use openvz virtualising)I have on the HN (Debian Lenny) 2 VE's, which are in the same subnet (192.168.1.0/24)The first VE (Hostname: ldap1, IP: 192.168.1.91) is the ldap-server, which is so configured, that i can manage the server via phpldapadmin.The second VE (Hostname: ftp1, IP: 192.168.1.31) is the ldap-client, there should run a sftp-server in the future and the sftp-server(ssh-server) should use ldap-usernames to login. on the ftp1, i get with this command getent passwd the users configured on the ldap-server, but with the command id USERNAME the result is, that the user doesn't exist. (USERNAME is this name, i get returned by getent) and if i try to login via ssh, i get permission denied. and because the machines are openvz-virtual-machines, so i can't login on them like on a normal system, but a su USERNAME doesn't work too, because the user is not known on the system.

i don't think, that the ldap-server is the problem, because the phpldapadmin and getent on ftp1 are working perfectly, but if you want, i can post the config here too. the VE ftp1 was configured with the following how-to: [URL] and pam is configured like in the chapter "PAM setup with pam_ldap" on [URL]

We want to set up a LDAP Server using the Yast-LDAP Server configuriation tool.
This indeed already worked weeks ago until....this week.
Maybe some updates??!
I do not know what happend exactly. The server just does not want to start again and throws following error:
Starting ldap-serverstartproc: exit status of parent of /usr/lib/openldap/slapd: 1 failed
This happend after a little check of the configuration, but without a change, with Yast. Google delivered only "reinstall your box"-answers.
So.. i did that. And now the "mystical" part: The SAME ERROR occurs with a fresh vanilla system with a brand new and simple configuration (certificats, database, pw...the first Yast config dialog...). I did not change the way i set it up.
I remember, when i did this the first time with 11.2 on that machine, when no problems occured...everything was running out of the box (except the "use commen server certificate" option...).
I manage to get RHEL Authenticate to Active Directory using LDAP and Kerberos. When a user authenticate to the Unix, the Unix system will check (using Kerberos) to the AD. However I just found out that when the RHEL (LDAP) did the authentication to the AD (to ensure that the RHEL has the right permission to query the LDAP database), it uses simple bind which send the username/password unencrypted over the network.
1) Can We use Kerberos as well? for the initial authentication described above?
2) If Not possible, is there a way to encrypt the username/password in the storage (ldap.conf -because it's world readble)? I know that for tranmission I can use SSL.
I started a new job and they use LDAP here. I built a new RHEL 5.5 server and configured LDAP. Usernames are recognized but the password is not. I can chown a file to a user name but when I try to login as the user it won't accept the password.I know the password is correct because I can login to any of the old boxes and it accepts the password. I ran authconfig-tui to tell my RHEL box to authenticate to ldap.

I have installed RHEL 4 32 - bit on sda3 and after that , installed installed RHEL 64-bit on to a partition sda 5. Now i am unable to boot into RHEL 32-bit. The error i am getting is Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format.

We are authenticating this Red Hat server to another OpenLdap server. Everything seems to work just fine and we are not even using Kerberos as this is a render server. We set-up ldap right in the GUI, nothing fancy.
RHEL 5.4, Basic install, again, nothing fancy. LDAP does seem to be working fine and allows the right people to login to the machine. We have two of these machines running and both are configured exactly the same and getting the same errors.
I'm building a new ldap server, my first, oh yea. I'm trying several tilities to see which I like best to work with ldap. One of those is phpldapadmin. I downloaded it and put it in the webroot but when I goto http://localhost/phpldapadmin I don't get an webpage for phpldapadmin I get a directory listing.

Environment: A 32-bit kernel RHEL5.3 system running on a virtual machine. The root(/) filesystem is on an LV.
Issue: Unable to resize the FS after extending the root LV since it is mounted. View 8 Replies View RelatedLDAP authentication problem on debian squeeze? To my knowledge, I have everything setup properly to do ldap authentication + local authentication on a host. I can login as a local user. I can login as an LDAP user.
When I log in as an LDAP user, my primary group is set properly. It is an LDAP group. I can change the group ownership of files to LDAP groups using chgrp. So far so good. This all works as expected. The commands getent passwd and getent group work wondefully, and generate the expected results. I can newgrp to any *local* group, but if I try to newgrp to an ldap group, I get the following error:
setgid: Operation not permitted. I've tried googling and asked on #debian on irc.debian.org. No luck.
How can I verify the following service configuration files/setup are ok with?(in RedHat)

Friends i got an opertunity to configure ddns in my office.I already configured staic dns in linux, but this is the first time iam configuring ddns.I just configured ddns in rhel 5.2 in my office.So far every thing working fine,dhcp is giving ip address to the clients and both forward and reverse dns database is updating.
1) In windows we can use flushdns and registerdns commands to update the dns database, like this any command is in linux to update client details in dns database?
2)how to restrict multiple client entries keeping in dhcp database.
3)if i change client hostname it is not updating the dns database,it is keeping the old one.

I believe that SU log messages are supposed to be appended to /var/log/messages but I'm not getting any log entries. I edited the /etc/syslog.conf and added the line below
su.* /var/log/sulog
Then ran /etc/rc.d/init.d/syslog restart (I also ran this prior to editing the syslog.conf file just in case). I'm still not getting any SU log messages.

I want to be able to automatically mount users home folders on logon and store the configuration in ldap.I've done the following so far

I am trying to install and configure nagios on RHEL 5. I have apache 2 installed and php all working as exepected. When i install nagios following the these steps [URL]. The nagios folder that is suppossed to be placed under apache2's httpd is no where to be seen. So when I try to open localhost/nagios/. It says: The requested URL /nagios/ was not found on this server. What can I do for the nagios to work on this system. The apache and php are working fine.

Based on what I understand, eth0 goes to monitoring and the other 2 ethernet cards go to FE. I am not an expert in system administration but would like to know if there is any issues with the above settings/configuration (in fact, im also looking for what do they infer and what is the settings?
One monitor is working fine but the display is not coming on other monitor. I guess no problem in monitor because I swapped the cable to check the individual monitor. When I try to install the new driver its giving GCC-VERSION-CHECK while installing. And I do not think I have to install the new driver because it has already one. What should I do to configure the dual monitor. Do I have to edit any configuration file.
