I have a dual core with an Intel integrated video HTPC (ubuntu 9.2). The suspend mode works for me and by pressing the power button, it wakes up the computer fine. How could I do the wake up from a keyboard, mouse or even a remote control,Does anyone know or has this issue?
When in sleep, keyboard and mouse seem to be dead, no response at all.
I've configured my F12 system to go to sleep when idle for a period of time and so far everything has been working out well except that it appears that the USB ports are completely dead with the system is put into sleep. I can't wake it using keyboard or mouse. only with the power button. Anyoen else experience this or know how to allow sleep from keyboard/mouse?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI ran across a cool program that I would like to try out called x2x, which for those who don't know allows me to use the keyboard and mouse from one computer on another computer. Just google it and you'll find explanations better than that, but you get the gist?
Anyhow, I've installed SSH server and x2x on the computer that I want to control (laptop) and on the computer that I want to use to control the laptop (workstation) I stuffed into a terminal the following:

All I get back out is: Code: ssh: Could not resolve hostname riley-Eee: Name or service not known even though both systems are on the same router. I would assume that it should work right away no problem, but it doesn't. I don't understand SSH very well (or networking in general) so I'm wondering if someone knows how to step-by-step me through getting it to work.
I try to configure mouse click interval since a single click is recognized as double click by doing it from KDE mouse configuration in system settings; but my attempt doesn't work even (I set the click interval to 2 sec, but doesn't change anything). What is the best way to do this in slackware?
View 4 Replies View Relatedso, last night i checked my e-mail, jumped on facebook for a minute and went to bed. i got up this morning and my computer seemed frozen; no mouse/keyboard, no network visibility.....nothing. the screen was just frozen. tried too ssh into it to reboot, but the network wasn't up on it. i had to hard reboot. NOW, it just reboots forever....and ever....and ever. i have a WinXP partition on there along with my F12 and that wont boot either. selecting a previous kernel does nothing either. it wont even boot off the F12 install DVD. just keeps rebooting. I've never had this happen to me. so, it seems like a hardware thing to me, but i dont know if its my mobo or the drive. i suspect a mobo issue as the drive still spins up and gets me to the grub menu.

A problem on first asus eee's is the keyboard: also just typed a letter once, the laptop writes it double (every 200 letters more or less). For example it looks like this while writing: "thiss is a ttest" For Windows XP I found a way to fix it: i increased the time, that limits writing letters twice by fast typing. Its not the time "Repeat Keys" Delay (Keyboard Settings "Key presses repeat when key is held down")! In fakt its the opposite: It limits pressing the key to fast. View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago I installed some updates. What they were I don't remember. After I did that my mouse started acting up. Now about half the time when I single click it registers as a double click. Also when I click and drag to select text anywhere it'll randomly do another click screwing up that process.
So far I think the problem is when I press the left mouse button it registers the left click and then when I release, it randomly registers another left click.
The mouse itself works fine if I take it to another PC that's using windows.
OS: Ubuntu 9.10 64bit
Mouse: Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0
mouse menu different in 10.10, is there a way to make the mouse single click instead of double click?

So far the cure is to press enter, which also sometimes starts a program or logs out, but not all the time. In fact generally it just unfreezes the mouse and I carry on!It is though rather annoying so if there is a solution to this I would appreciate it.It never happened with the Beta versions just the final one!

View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday night everything was normal until I rebooted to Fedora. This morning I switched back to Kubuntu 9.04 and the keyboard had a strange behaviour. Every button needs to be pressed ~2 sec. in order the letter to show up. And that happens in every application (shell, firefox, etc). I tried to upgrade to 9.10 hoping that it will return to defaults but the problem persist. Please help solve this issue, my work is hanging and all the programs I'm using at the moment are installed on my Ubuntu partition.
View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i click my mouse on something, it sometimes registers as two clicks. it doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be annoying. for example, when i click a videos video to pause it, it often opens into fullscreen (which you normally click twice to do). also, in the url bar of chromium, i can't select the entire url by clicking. i now need to use ctrl+a. that's also because when i try to select the url, the highlight randomly disappears.
if i have multiple windows open, my click on the first "x" of the top-most window also closes the next window. i'm on linux mint 10. it's not really important, but it drives me crazy sometimes when my mouse doesn't work the way i want it to.

If I normally click the Trash icon either in Kmail or in Evolution more than one mail gets deleted in a sequential order! I have to press the click button extremely light to avoid this problem. I have confirmed this problem is not only with the Email clients but even with most other normal applications too. I have changed my mouse twice but the problem persists. Both were USB mice. In Windows I can get my computer to resume from sleep mode by pressing any key on the keyboard. My keyboard is a Logitech G15 (USB).
How can I get this functionality in Ubuntu?
When I close the lid on my laptop, it blanks the screen but does not sleep or hibernate. When I open the lid, the screen wakes and everything runs, but my mouse cursor has disappeared. I can restart the desktop ctrl-alt-backspace and get my mouse back.
My hardware:
- Lenovo Thinkpad X61 Tablet
- Intel GM965 video
- Ubuntu Jaunty (v9.04)
This isn't stricly an Ubuntu question, but it is in the cause of an Ubuntu-powered home server Essentially: does wake-on-lan work if the computer is Shut Down (ie to all intents and purposes 'off' except for the hardware switch on the back), assuming that the motherboard and network interface (which in my case are one and the same) support wake-on-lan?
Also, if wake-on-lan is turned on, will this mean power going to anything other than the network interface (e.g. will PSU, CPU, case fans still be on?)Finally, will all of this work on Ubuntu 10.10 (assuming that the computer components are compatible)?
EDIT: Just to be clear, the Ubuntu system will be receiving the wake-on-lan 'call' (from a Squeezebox, though from my very limited knowledge of this stuff I don't think the source matters)
I have an interesting issue. I have a computer running Ubuntu 10.10. I have a wireless USB Microsoft keyboard attached to this, and I have a cheap USB infrared remote also attached to it.The wireless USB Microsoft keyboard can wake up the system from suspend. The USB infrared remote cannot.To start off, I made sure my /proc/acpi/wakeup had wakeup enabled for all usb devices.

View 4 Replies View Relatedjust want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

So I'm on a CR-48 (the Google Chrome notebook) and one of the things that are not possible is right-clicking and two-finger scrolling. I don't care much for the latter, but right-clicking is an obvious necessity. I need a way to emulate the right-click action with key press.

I've read that holding down the command key simulates pressing the "context menu" button on a Windows machine, but this behavior doesn't seem to be present in Ubuntu. View 2 Replies View RelatedLike many others I recently upgraded to 10.04. So far it's generally an *excellent* upgrade. Very promising LTS release. However, mouse clicks are suddenly not behaving as expected in applications (including system config apps). In these, I must ctrl-click to get proper left and right click behavior. Strangely, on both the top panel and on the awn dock, clicks behave as they should. One final note, this behavior was not immediately present after the 10.04 installation. It started the day after the 10.04 release. Currently in the process of checking recent installs to see if anything would affect this.

However, I have a problem: When I press any of the 'special' keys on the keyboard (Vol up, down, mute, and various others), the left-click on my mouse disables. I'm using a Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000, which has a lot of special keys (and the f keys are special by default), so I've been having trouble not disabling my mouse. Anyone know what the problem is, how to resolve it? And on top of that, how do I make the special keys work?
