Software :: Web Based Ordering System For Restaurant
Nov 6, 2010
I am trying to help a small restaurant owner take orders via the web.Looking for a solution that:Can create the restaurant's menu.Display that menu on the restaurant's web site.Preferably, using PHP with MySQL.Take orders via that web page.Let the restaurant owner update the menu with today's specials, via the web.
I am looking for a basic online ordering system that is:Web-based. Runs on LAMP, etc.Stable, reliable, etc.Open source. The end-user uses a web browser to order items from the list, quantity for each item, etc.Prints that order for the business owner.
I have a dual monitor setup and I've used Scale for a few days now, but I'm still confused about the expected ordering of the windows within the same workspace. For example, the last focused window isn't necessarily placed at a fixed spot, e.g., top left corner. It seems that if a window on my left monitor is last focused and I invoke it on my right screen, then it'd appear on the top left corner. However, if a window on my right monitor is last focused, it gets past just the last focused window on my left monitor. The last focused window on my left monitor eventually shifts to the bottom right corner.
I've published a samba share on a Ubuntu 8.10 server, and mounted the share on a windows box. For some strange reason the files are not sorted by file name (nor by any other sorting type) if I list them from the Windows command line (dir). I could always use the "dir /on" parameter, but I hope there's a way to make samba sort the files for me
I installed F12 onto a 4 disk SW RAID5 array. sda has a /boot partition and a <swap> partition and all of the rest of the storage is raided to make the / partition.
The installer listed sda as the HDD with the boot partition so I updated the MBR on sda durring install. After the reboot I was sent to a grub prompt. I could run,
grub> find /grub/stage1(hd1,0) and then grub> configfile (hd1,0)/grub/grub.conf and the system boots.
I'm not sure if this a BIOS disk ordering problem. I tried switching a few SATA cables, to try and reorder disks but I couldn't get to the grub prompt with the different configurations I tried.
Should I try copying the MBR from one disk to another? It seems like it's getting past the MBR otherwise grub wouldn't load at all, so is this a grub bug?
On Windows, the widget set for windows is on the right and the widget order is minimise, fullscreen, close. Linux in general (And Ubuntu's themes specifically) *generally* mirrored this.On OSX, the widgets are on the left and the order is close, minimise, fullscreen. On Ubuntu 10.4 the widget set has been moved to the left hand side, but is just a move of the standard windows order. Is it possible (in a way that won't break future themes or edits, so by using the GUI preferrably but I can't find any option) to change the widget ordering?
I like the Dust Sand theme fondow borders etc, which doesn't actually show icon differences for the 3, just 3 dots. As a user of Windows and OSX as well as Ubuntu I keep finding myself clicking the wrong one as my brain just expects them to be in the OSX order when on the left (it just makes sense in my head for close to be on the outside edge, whichever side that may be, and for minimiseo come beformaximise/fullscreen when reading left-right). I realise other people may (and probably will) disagree with me on this, especially non-mac users, so it'd be preferable to be able to customise the order rather than force one or the other on people.
Issue: I want to backup my system and be able to restore if/when my system crashes.
Setup: Thinkpad T61 running Sidux KDE3.
I want to back up the system files more than personal data. What I have found is that when I apt-get dist-upgrade the upgrade performs without error, but when I restart and login I get a black screen with a mouse. From the 'black screen' I can open yakuake with F12 and then launch applications and such from the command line. The point of this more troubleshooting right now. Later is so I won't need to do a complete reinstall.
What backup prog have you used that will backup the complete system and is easy to restore?
I'm looking for an open source web based version control system for our enterprise. To give you a quick picture of what we need I'll give you an example.
1.The customer send us some files for a new project (these will be the version 1.0) 2.We work on these files and make then available to the customer to let him verify that our changes are what he want. (These will be the version 2.0) 3.The customer accept. 4.We start the production.
I tried to update one of my home machines with a fresh install. This is far from new to me so I did not expect any problem. But I was proven wrong. First: did install the system as usual. First anomaly: system blocked during the install process but did restart it flawlessly one I tried to eject the DVD from the player. It needed actually that intervention to retake working. It then went to install and froze during the first system start. I rebooted with failsafe settings, it then correctly configured. I reached a beautiful desktop. I performed the updates from the update repository and I joined the nvidia proprietary driver repository (which updated to the G02 driver).
I then rebooted the machine and now I am in trouble. In normal mode the system (dual boot Opensuse, XP) does not boot at all and freezes immediately after hitting enter as before. In safe mode it goes further but does not reach X anymore. It blocks with the following line statement: "system console stolen at line 266". I then tried "startx". But the system goes into a scrolling loop that does not allow me to read the output. how to get at least the error message of the loop? I read some line passing by that the system might have an X11 authorization problem.

I recently acquired one of the new Acer nettops to have an HTPC in my living room running XBMC - basically because my Gen1 Xbox just cant handle HD and 264 encoded content.
It works great, upscaling being the best thing about the upgrade. But I dont have a proper remote control to operate it with; I know that Logitechs Harmony models are great, and are on my to check list... but I wanted some ideas from the community... What option(s) works best? (Specially keeping a budget)
I know several tools that allow tracking time spend on different tasks / projects. Is there any existing tool for very very simplified work-time-tracking.I am an employee, come to the office, switch on my laptop directly. I have mostly around 1 hr lunchtime, but sometimes less, sometimes more.At around 18:00 I want to type one command in the console (or simple GUI would also be okay of course) that tells me:"1 hour overworked. Go home now! (came at 8:00, 1 hour standard lunch-break)."
I have install Ubuntu 10.04 version. Then install Crossover 9 and run Internet Explore 7 on the crossover. Now I need to access web based system through IE7 which is java applet enabled system and also I have already installed java runtime environment on crossover. But that system can not access through IE7 it given some errors.
My application is an integration of all the open source components with customized heavily including OS. I would need to know how to generate license keys for my application. Does any one have any clue?
I am trying to set up a computer based church bell sound system for my church. Basically it will be playing a sound at prescribed times during the day through an amplifier and speaker system. With the option of special sounds done manually on demand. I am using Linux Mint.
Are there any Computer Algebra Systems in the Ubuntu repositories that are GUI (and preferably GTK+) based and open source, as well as capable of graphing (and in 3D)? That being: A complete FOSS competitor to Microsoft Student.
I have just had an auto-update, and the process has stopped with the warning above. The full error message is given below. I had already had problems (not sure if they're somehow resolved or related to this) with updating [URL]. Tests have determined that problems in the boot system exist which prevent migration to dependency-based boot sequencing:

To reattempt the migration process after the problems have been fixed, run "dpkg-reconfigure sysv-rc".
I have a system built and running in exactly the basic configuration I want, with my recompiled kernel, extra packages, special drivers, everything works, life is good. What I want to do is take this exact setup and create an image I can copy onto a bootable USB stick. Is there a way to essentially take the contents of my hard drive and copy that onto a USB stick and then boot directly from that? The use case behind this is that I am building an embedded system of which I may have hundreds of boxes with identical hardware and software configurations. Instead of hard drives, I am going to use USB sticks for cost efficiency and maintenance. My idea is that when it's time to upgrade, I could just image a hundred new sticks and go out and swap them.
My issue is that a standard LiveCD install gets me maybe 25% of the way to a finished system. I need to recompile the kernel for realtime support with my CPU, add some fidgety drivers for some specific hardware, and install a whole bunch of additional packages. I suppose I could create a makefile(s) to replicate all the manual steps of the buildout but that seems like a lot of unnecessary complexity IF I can just image that running system as it is.
I notice that on DistroWatch, the descriptions include "debian based", "arch based", etc. For the newbie, is there any practical difference between the different bases, or is it a Coke vs Pepsi type question?
Is a distro based on Debian say, easier for a newbie to learn or work with than say one that is FreeBSD based?
I've got some source code that loads and plays WAV files through the OSS drivers (and USB audio). The code works even under 2.6.34. Is there any benefit to rewriting the code using the ALSA system?
I am working on a set up, and I like to be able to toggle compiz on and off, or toggle dualscreen on and off. The thing is, I also have conky on my desktop as well as a terminal window embedded in my desktop (that requires compiz). So, when I turn comiz off, or resize my desktop, I want to be able to reposition conky/embedded-terminal and the terminals position is relative to my conky position and the size of my virtual desktop.
I can do this all fine, except that to reposition the terminal I need to kill it then reopen it. But if I kill gnome-terminal it kills ALL gnome-terminals instead of just my embedded one. How can I specifically close my embedded one and leave any others untouched? Lets say that the title of my embedded terminal is "trans777"Also, the trans777 titled gnome-terminal will be killed when compiz is not running.
I wanna switch to Fedora on my office laptop. I have figured most my app's alternatives. But I just can find a app or a way to configure my exchange based email system "natively".
I have a question regarding to the Graphical Splash Screen. Is their a way to show the text based startup on booting your OS? So. I don't the OpenSuse Background with the loading line. But i want the half transparent black background if possible or just the black background with all the loading texts. The black and white screen.
