View 4 RepliesI recently ran yum update and upgraded to deluge 1.1.9-1. It worked for a while, but after a reboot all I get is this:
Code:
[swarm32@smithers ~]$ deluged -d -L debug

I was using Ubuntu 10.04 and ran the upgrade. System > About now says I am now using 11.04. However, System > Administration > Update Manager says New Ubuntu release '11.04' available > Upgrade. Should I run the upgrade again, or is there a quicker way to fix this?

Trying to get Multi-Seat working.
After reading through some posts, looks like the X command needs -sharevts and -novtswitch options which looks like are not in
the X11R6.8.2 version. Can I install X11R6.9 or X11R7.0 on Redhat 4 update 6?
Since 2009 we are using Linux Redhat and all printers are working well. But when I have done Redhat's UPDATE I found all matrix printers (Epson LQ-590) not printing. Those printers are connected to the network by a printer server. When I do "lpr -Pprintername /etc/hosts" the printer prints the file but it not formats characters.
To print from my application, I create a file driver which looks like
"lpr -PP112" in /usr/spool/uv/t112.dvr
The first version was looked like
#!/bin/bash
#
# $6: Imprimante (nom Universe)
#
export LOGFILE=/tmp/uv-smbprint-$6
date > $LOGFILE
echo $6 >> $LOGFILE
cat - > /tmp/prn.$6.$$
cat /tmp/prn.$6.$$ |lpr -P $6 -o raw -h >> $LOGFILE 2>&1
rm -f /tmp/prn.$6.$$
exit 0
Now this old version works with the HP LaserJet printers. But on the matrix Epson printer it can't work I put lpr - Pprintername or lp
-onobanner -Dprintername to print something.
The problem steel in formatting text when I print on all matrix Epson printers.
As the subject says it all. i need to configure my production system to install and update softwares from Redhat network.
what are the initial steps that i need to do above.
linux systems must also be connected to internet right?
Would someone be able to point me in the direction to find a list of update releases for Redhat Linux v5?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi don't know where to start exactly First i am kinda newbie in Ubuntu. I am working 7 months with Ubuntu and still i have many difficulties. I went through many problems and still i succeed to fix them all What have i done ? Well simply i have tried to update my system with "apt-get". Afterwards i saw a message "0 to install 0 to update 3 not upgraded". These 3 were linux-generic linux-headers-generic and one more. I have done this ... and suddenly i have chanched my kernel to the last version. After rebooting my machine the worst happened - i had no GUI, no graphics at all.
What the real problem is ? The problem is that i am student in IT engineering, where we work only and with Windows OS and ( isn't that funny?) and Windows Servers. However i preffered to use Linux because of the growing popularity of open source OS, because with linux i have more opportunities to learn new stuff and of course because i hate Windows the most . My problem is that i have 4 Virtual Machines in VirtualBox inside my computer.I still can see the files and i still can operate to some level. I have minimal graphicl interface in "xterm" mode. Yes but i can't operate with them in "xterm" mode and that is so crucial for me. I have projects to make and i am depending of my virtualization. I don't want neither to change my beloved Ubuntu (if is still Ubuntu) and i can't risk to lose any data inside my computer. I will describe the steps i took in the next chapter of the thread
I had Windows XP working. I then put in a new hard disk and installed Redhat 5 on it. rom then i could only boot into Redhat. Further, everyting is very slow. Anothe rproblem is that Redhat does not see my netwrok so I cannot get onto the Internet. I need to have the choice of booting into XP or Redhat.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just ran a "yum update" on my CentOS 5.3 system. After a reboot, I noticed /etc/redhat-release show CentOS 5.4.
I thought yum upgrade was supposed to do that?
I wanted to simply patch my CentOS 5.3 system without turning it into CentOS 5.4 ... YET.
I cant mount a directory on red hat 5 from red hat 4 using fstab.I keep getting permission denied.I mount directories on the same red hat 5 sys from other red hat 5 and 2 old HPUX systems using fstab. When I try to telnet to it i get "no route to host."

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just got my 10.04 LTS CD from Canonical.
I was too impatient and upgraded to 10.04. The up-gradation was not without its flaws, but I have worked around a number of issues and I am happily working on it now.
I have installed a number of other software on the 10.04 upgraded version like Eclipse, GATE (NLP software), BasKet Notes, Thunderbird etc. If I install the LTS version will I have to re-download and install all of these things? Or is it portable?
I use only Linux on my laptop and so the stability is very important.
Was enjoying ubuntu 9.10 without any issues then foolishly thought an upgrade to 10.04 would be a good idea but since hav`nt been able use the internet on my linux pc due to connection problems using a 3g dongle.Thats another issue altogether what i wanted to ask here was in the terminal i keep getting [sudo] password for rjb: but then im not able to type anything
View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded a week ago to ubuntu 10.10 (amd64). I was unable to boot in 2.6.35-22 so I have been using 2.6.32-25. I tried again last night after installing updates to 2.6.35-22. Still no luck.I gave up since this was much like what happened a week ago and I couldn't find any solutions then. (I ran memtest then.)
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe software manager has been nagging me to upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 for some time now. I finally gave in and clicked on Upgrade. After the upgrade completed, my computer won't start. It just flashes Ubuntu for a split second and goes to a black screen. I happen to have the 10.04 CD from Canonical, and I tried that, and it won't launch the installer either; just a logo and a black screen. Since I can't even get to the terminal to diagnose and fix whatever's wrong, I'm installing 9.10 from the CD that I ordered from Canonical a long time ago. I went through all the graphical options just like the first time I installed 9.10, and it's in the process of installing right now.
I don't really have time to futz with it because I need my laptop for when I go and visit my mum for Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll try after the holidays if I can get some feedback on what might have gone wrong with 10.04.
The title says it all. I am using an Acer Aspire laptop that I upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 today. There is no backlight. What's the fix?

I just updated to kde 4.4 and I no longer have any panels (hade them before the upgrade) and right clicking the desktop produces nothing. I even lost the plasma du-hicki. how to create them. This was a test rig so no big deal but I need to get it resolved before I upgrade my other rigs. Using testing/unstable mix.

I have a 23" Acer screen, but in Gnome its auto detecting as a 20" Acer display and the aspect ratio is wrong and the display grainy. I read the FAQs and am trying out some suggestions. Created an xorg.conf file in the correct place, contains the correct monitor settings but my display is still broken. Q. How do I force the kernel to read the xorg.conf file ?(PS: I'm kind of a newbie, have only come back to linux after a few years of using Windows)

View 5 Replies View Relatedrecently I found a Cpu Speed Icon that went on the bottom bar of my F11 Gnome display and read out both CPU speeds.I have upgraded to F12 and cannot remember where I got the Icons.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI did have F11 on my laptop all running smoothly and everything which is good. But now I've updated from F11 using the preupgrade tool which for what I could see everything downloaded and installed ok, that was until the reboot after the install had completed after seemingly loading F12 it left me with a black screen with a blinking cursor so after a few more reboots with the same out come I decided to see what the loading was stopping at and this is what it came up with
Code:
Welcome to Fedora
Press 'I' to enter interactive startup.
Starting udev: [ OK ]
Setting Hostname Fireline.Yuki: [ OK ]
mdadm: No arrays found in config or automatically
[code]....
And it stops loading after "Starting atd: [ OK ]" I am going to try a CD install either tomorrow or the day after then I'll go back to F11 depending if it works or not.
I have upgraded successfully to 11.4 I note that with zyper repo ls I have 11.4 and 11.3 repos. The 11.3 are all disabled. Do they need to stay in 11.4 or can I remove and delete them - will probably do this via YAST?

I haven't used it since then, until today, when I took the ethernet cord out of my laptop and stuck in in the desktop. I plugged the ethernet cord into the laptop and now I am online. What is going on here??

I did the update from within 9.10 to 10.4. Now when Ubuntu boots up, something happens and it goes to busybox. I tried sitting there and waiting, but nothing happened. So I tried typing exit, and then about a minute or two later it finally finished booting.
It's real nice that everyone else is reporting 20-30 second boot times, but before with 9.10 my boot time was around 60 seconds or so, and now it's around 5 minutes. So how can I fix this? Is there a way to post the boot log here? Where would it be located at on my computer?
