Mar 29, 2010I really need to get a linksys wpc54g version 4 pcmcia card to work....i have never really had a lot of problems with wireless and thit is a friends laptop that he wanted ubuntu on......if i cant get it to work he will go back to windows and i would not like that to happen lol....here is the output of dmesg and ifconfig lspci and lspcmcia..

Ubuntu Networking :: Perplexed Linksys WPC54G - Firmware Is Missing ?
May 20, 2011In the past I've installed 9.10 using a hardwired network port for the web with the above card in the machine. After the install I got a notification of an update which downloaded the appropriate software for the above wireless card. Worked like a charm. Today I installed 11.04 and zilch. No wireless. Supposedly the firmware is missing. I guess my question is why is something that worked well in the past now missing?

Mar 14, 2010I've searched google and read quite a few threads on the the topic of installing the new enhanced rt73-k2wrlz.3.03 driver and modprobe my rt73usb driver but I'm running into a road block here when I get these messages after I run sudo make install.I have attached a screenshot.I have already run sudo aptitude.Sudo aptitude safe-upgrade.Sudo aptitude install linux headers.

Is it having problems locating the firmware; How do I update the alias.I can get online to learn. Something to not is I've tried blacklisting the drivers before installation and also after. This time I still havent modprobed rt73 from following this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1178790 nor have I plugged in my Wireless adapter during the installation phase yet.

Apr 21, 2010I was able to successfully put together the driver with the Linksys WUSB100 v2 using ndiswrapper.
Here is what i get from ndiswrapper -l: rt2870: driver installed device (1737:0078) present (alternate driver: rt2870sta)But, the catch is where it maps to: ra0 instead of wlan0. This has caused me problems in order to get it to connect through network-manager or in the terminal.

Aug 16, 2010My 32-bit Celeron M laptop has a Linksys WPC300N PCMCIA wireless N card (Broadcom 4321 chipset).
I tried but have been unable to install the akmod version of the broadcom-wl driver:

The card is recognized by lspci but the driver module broadcom-wl is not found. I don't see b43 and ssb modules so I can't blacklist them.
Ubuntu Networking :: AE 1000 Linksys Driver Disabled After Auto-updates Installed
Dec 9, 2010I recently had my AE 1000 linksys wireless adapter driver installed, the info for which can be found here:

But today I was presented with 142 automatic updates already downloaded waiting to be installed on my computer. I installed the updates and restarted my computer for the updates to take effect. Well, since then my wireless adapter no longer registers at all, it doesn't even recognize my router let alone connect to it. It is as inoperable as the day I got it.
I am currently using a different computer in the house to get internet. Should I go about following the same directions I did before and reinstall the driver, or is there a more simple way?

Dec 1, 2010I'm trying to connect to a friend's Linksys WAG160N router using Ubuntu 10.10, but it's just refusing to connect. I can connect to other wireless networks fine - it seems to just be this router. The wireless indicator applet thing shows that I'm trying to connect, but the password box always just pops up again and again. I'm certain I've got the password correct and am able to connect under OSX on the same computer. Connecting to it via ethernet also works fine.

May 14, 2010I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my formerly XP system, and I'm trying to get my wireless network working. I have a Linksys WUSB11 v2.6 wireless adapter connected by USB to the system.
The system networking icon reports "No wired networks".
I'm not sure whether or not the system sees the USB ports... If so, it apparently doesn't recognize the adapter.
I saw a few posts that indicated that this adapter didn't work on 10.04 but it had worked on 9.04.
I'm looking for any info to get this working, including any or all of the following:
* How to determine if the system sees the USB ports (or is it "obvious" that it does)
* Should the wireless adapter work just by plugging it in?
* How to troubleshoot the networking adapter to get it working
* (If downgrading to 9.04 is likely to solve the problem) how to downgrade to 9.04 from 10.04...

We just moved and our setup has reversed (router is near their computer, I am using the usb adapter). I just installed the latest Ubuntu and now I can't get the usb adapter to work. I'm very new to Linux and I have no idea what to do. I think this is the same usb adapter.

Sep 2, 2010My old ubuntu laptop beeps 3 time on startup and then freezes. This forced me to install 10.04 on a new laptop. Now I can't get the linksys wpc54gs ver 2 to get connect. I can see the router with a padlock by it. I pretty sure I have the correct password in the right spot. I can access the internet with the wire connection. I'm sure it something simple I forgot from before when the card was working in the old laptop.

Sep 3, 2010I think lightning may have killed it. It was working fine. Now I cant get it recognized no matter what I do. It also quit working in Win XP where I never had a problem with it because it had its own connection software.

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit edition on the system. First problem I am having is there is no audio on my system. For this card I'm using an HDMI cable to connect it to my screen. I installed the NVIDIA proprietary drivers and there was no audio. I reverted back to drivers I found on the NVIDIA website and still there is no audio. Second problem I am having is attributed to the wifi card I am using (I think). I keep getting this message on boot after post (and on the terminal after I switch off the X server by stopping gdm):

Feb 18, 2011Here is the situation: I am currently running Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit. I'm trying to get my Linksys AE1000 to run correctly. I have followed many tutorials but most notably was:[URL].. lsmod shows that rt3572sta is loaded. network manager in gnome is able to find my router. my problem occurs when it tries to connect to the router using wpa2 security. It continually asks for the wireless password then will freeze the system after a number of attempts. After digging in for a bit, I was able to dig out a dmesg trapping the error:

I really don't see the need to continue on with those error messages lsmod still shows rt3572sta after the failure. In case anyone wants to see the changes I have made to the files before the make, I have included them. but changed the extension to "txt" to accommodate the up-loader and my rt_linux is too big to fit here, just not that it was 2 lines that were changed to work with the kernel. If anyone wants to know what I mean by the system freezes, I do mean just that. The mouse will continue to work, but I am then unable to open any programs, unable to reboot the computer. it requires a hard reset.
I have uninstalled the drivers, installed them, make them, make install them, make clean, start from scratch a few times, and am getting no give here.
Ubuntu Networking :: Can't Use The Internet With Linksys Router
Feb 25, 2011I am dual booting XP and Ubuntu 10.10 64bit on a Dell Latitude E6410 and I have a Linksys WRT120N router connected to my Modem.
So the weird thing is, under XP I can use the internet while connected to my router. Under Ubuntu I can't use the internet while connected to my router. But I can use the internet in Ubuntu if I connect to my neighbor's router called "linksys". So something happens when I connect to my router that makes Ubuntu not able to access the internet. But if I'm connected to my Neighbors router or if I use XP while connected to my router I can use the internet.
I have been using Ubuntu for about a year, so I'm getting better but still a noob. I've tried to figure out what's going on by looking at other forums and posts and trying to see if anyone has solved this. So far I've had no luck. This is also the first of many problem I have encountered that I have been unable to solve using online posts, and is the first problem that I have had to resorted to creating a post to try and fix.
