Software :: History To Be Logged In Diffrent File ONLINE

Sep 21, 2010

I want to know if there is any process to record the commands executed from CLI to be recorded in a diffrent file ONLINE.Meaning whenever anyone who is executing any command, the same should get recorded in /var/log/histlog online (as an administrator I want to keep a track of the username along with time and tty) from which the command is executed.I may use tail -f /var/log/histlog to check the commands executed online.I am using the RHEL5 with kernel as 2.6.18.I have used the lastcomm to check that, but donot find it very usefull as it prints extra informations also (not relevent) some commands which are executed internally by the system while loggin in by the user.

Is it possible to locate the Firefox file that retains "Search" history (not particularly "Browser" history)?I have lost a hardcopy list of authors and titles of books/ebooks that I search the web for. However, most of the time when I would enter a name or title a drop down list would have that entry I wanted, and I could just click on it. That drop down list is what I am calling "Search" history.

Programming :: Save Input From An Online Form To A File/database?

Browsing some websites I've found a code for online form where a user provides name, number, etc. Everything is created in html/javascript. I'm just wondering whether it's possible to collect this input and present it in a database form so that I'd be able to see who's provided data and all the details they entered.Actually, it doesn't have to be a proper database (it would probably require php/mysql). It could be a weekly/monthly report (a text file) of people who provided details. The website is hosted by a third party company. This is an html bit:

Code:

Debian :: Ssh Login Not Being Logged?

Nov 9, 2010

I just installed debian 5.06 i386 130MB that I downloaded yesterday(Monday). My problem is that when an incoming ssh connection to this debian box is established, but nothing is being logged to /var/log/auth.log on this box. I've tail -f the auth.log which verified nothing is getting logged for ssh. The auth.log is showing activity, mostly root logins and logoffs, but no ssh activity.I understand that /etc/rsyslog.conf may control what gets logged. I had pastebinned this file on #debian but people noted that it looked fine.I have not made any changes to the system, like editing config files or anything. The system is essentially just out of the box. What else can I do to figure this out? Otherwise, I am pleased with how Debian installed on 2002 vintage machine, and is running in console mod

Fedora :: Automatically Being Logged Out

Jan 31, 2010

I'm making an effort to use Fedora as my primary desktop (previously Win Vista), but have a problem that I can't find an answer for. At seemingly random times, I will just be logged off and kicked out to the login screen for no reason. The computer's not shutting down or rebooting, but only logging out. It happens while I'm working, so it's very annoying. I have screensavers turned off, and have no actions set in power management (I am on a laptop). I have some experience with Linux systems, but not so much with using it as a desktop system. I'm running the following:

HP Pavilion dv3000 with Core 2 Duo P7350 @ 2GHz and 4GB RAM
64-bit Fedora 12, kernel 2.6.31.12-174.2.3, Gnome 2.28.2
Nvidia driver with external monitor (TwinView)
also using Compiz and Emerald theme manager

Does anyone have any clue as to what could be causing this, or even how to look for a cause?

Ubuntu :: 10.04 - Keep Getting Logged Out Within Half Second

Oct 24, 2010

I am quite new to this ubuntu business, but i like what I'm seeing so far. Well, almost everything that I'm seeing. I seem to have run into a tricky problem with xubuntu 10.04. I was in the process of customizing my desktop appearance (via Xfce4 Settings manager), and I found a nice theme to go with (dusk I think it was called). I then went on to change the window settings and starting from the bottom most option I browsed the various styles. After a few of these my computer decided to log me out quite suddenly, and I was prompted to login.

This is where the problem is: I type in my password and it logs me in for maybe a half a second only to log me out again. No matter how many times I put in the password I keep getting logged out. So now I'm running xubuntu 10.04 off a pendrive that was used in its initial installation. Is there any way to log back in and stay logged in long enough to undo the window styling at fault? I had put in quite a bit of work migrating files, installing all sorts of things and setting up fancy launchers, and I would prefer not to have to redo it again.
