I have posted the following below on the Ubuntu Forums but have not got a satisfactory answer yet. My problem is as follows:I have installed Xubuntu on my machine to test a setup I want to to for my in-laws. Everything went well until I realised I have a problem loading some pages on Firefox.
There is no error message but they are just stuck on loading and finally timing out. I have then downloaded Opera and I am showing the same problem. A bit of research showed it could be a IPV6 issue. I therefore disabled ipv6 in about:config and also /etc/modprobe.d/aliases - 'alias net-pf-10 ipv6' to alias 'net-pf-10 off ipv6'. No change - still can't get those pages loaded.
I create/modify web pages on Ubuntu and on Ubuntu it looks good but on Firefox that runs on Windows it is all messed up. The pictures or text is not as intended and that is really annoying. What is the issue here?I really don't understand.
I am now working with squeeze, and my page load time on my Vista laptop, which is working off of a wireless connection, is much faster than my linux desktop, which is a direct connection.
It takes a long time for firefox to actually find every website I go to. It sticks on looking for [URL] and then eventually finds it. It isn't the connection because I tested it and its fine. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and firefox 3.6.3
I am newbie, and i am developing my website. My web-site's pages appears to be fine when i open in any browser (including IE, Firefox, Chrome) in windows.. but when i open the same website page in Ubuntu-Firefox the page has lots of css and font errors..is this a problem in ubuntu or my website? my website link: http://www.beakkon.com any suggestion on how to fix it? i am also attaching the snippet of a page of my website when it is opened in Ubuntu-firefox.
I have opensuse 11.2 and I have no sound from opera or firefox. I have checked Yast and it looks like all of the default sound apps are loaded. I have a newer PC with soundcard on the mobo. I also have XP on this machine and the sound works.
i've been using linux for a while and migrated from ubuntu to fedora, found out ubuntu too easy. I'm currently trying to configure my fedora 11 but i cant make java work on opera or firefox, they both keep saying i need to install it but everytime i download or the YUM package or the .rpm it says it is already installed!
FireFox 3.6.17 HPLIP 3.10.2 with HP OfficeJet J4540 connected CUPS 1.4.3
When I print from a web page, it prints 3 pages from a web page that looks like it would print more than 3 pages. It seems like only the first, second and last sections of a web page is being printed. Is there an easy fix to this?
i changed my kde color scheme and it changed firefox's and opera's color scheme. sometimes it can be difficult to read links or articles on web pages. i don't want to change their default color schemes. how can i do that ?
Just a reminder, Firefox 3.0 will reach End of Life status with the upcoming release of Firefox 3.0.19. This may concern you if you are still on Jaunty (like me). You may want to search the forum on how to add the repository for a current version of Firefox or Opera. Anybody who knows what Canonical will do in such a situation if a critical bug shows up after Firefox 3.0 will no longer be supported, but Jaunty still is supported?
Support for ipv6 keeps being put into the kernel and now into browsers.I blacklisted ipv6 in Slackware and that solved the slow internet response until I updated to the latest Opera and Firefox browsers. Both were horribly slow again. Firefox could be reconfigured to kill ipv6 by running about:config as a url and disabling ipv6.
The new Opera 11 is different. I can't find any config to disable ipv6. Does anyone have an idea?I reverted to Opera 10.11 in order to have zippy internet access again, and not "dialup modem" speeds.
Ok so i end up downloading many tutorials on many different things and i read many of them every day. Every time i go to open one it pops up a notification asking me what i want to do, i want it to automatically "Display"
I'm on Lucid.I don't know if this is a problem from the Windows Live space itself. But since a while ago, all the English text on Windows Live space are squeezed horizontally into little stems and thus illegible. It happens only to Firefox and Opera on Ubuntu (lucid in my case).I compared it with Firefox and Opera on Windows. They both work fine.
For a couple of weeks, I have had constant crashes of all my applications on Lucid:Thunderbird 3.1 (updated since crashing started using Ubuntuzilla)Firefox 3.6.6 (updated since crashing started using Ubuntuzilla) - also crashes in safe mode OpenOffice 3.2 Opera 9.63 Most frequently it is Firefox and Thunderbird crashing, because they're the applications I use most. (Also F-Spot has crashed, but F-Spot frequently crashed before all this, so may not be related).
Sometimes applications will run for a few hours and then crash (either suddenly close or freeze, it varies). Other times the application crashes before it even opens, and I just get the Mozilla crash reporter. If an application won't start at all, it will usually start if I restart the computer, but may crash again soon afterwards. There is no obvious pattern to when it crashes - sometimes on starting, sometimes when I click something, sometimes when I'm not even at the computer and I just come back to find it crashed.
My husband (a programmer) has run Memtest on my machine, which found no problems. He is also running lucid on the same hardware apart from the monitors, and has the same versions of OpenOffice, Thunderbird and Firefox except for extensions, but has not any problems. A warning that shows on the terminal if Firefox crashes in safe mode, is:
WARNING: pipe error: Broken pipe: file /builds/slave/linux_build/build/ipc/chromium/src/chrome/common/ipc_channel_posix.cc, line 627 WARNING: pipe error (3): Connection reset by peer: file /builds/slave/linux_build/build/ipc/chromium/src/chrome/common/ipc_channel_posix.cc, line 404
This is strange because I did not, when that warning first appeared, have Chromium installed (although I did have Picasa). My husband installed Chromium on my machine after seeing the warning and Chromium is running okay so far but other applications are still crashing.
I was wondering how i could achieve this. I know about !state=maxvert but this removes the titlebars on all applications.(any)&!(name=opera) will do this just for opera but the problem is when i unmaximize it the titlebar will still be gone. How can i make sure that all applications will have their titlebar when maximized exept opera and firefox, and all applications inclusing these 2 have titlebars when unmaximized?
I'm trying to open a webpage which contains a quicktime stream in firefox 3.6.0 Some of my friends are viewing the stream correctly in ubuntu, but I'm getting this error:
Kernel 3.13.0-65-generic (i686) Intel 945G video card Xubuntu 14.04.3 with XFCE 4.10 Firefox 41.0.1 Google Chrome 45.0.2454.101 Dell generic usb mouse
I cannot copy a portion of an entire webpage using Google Chrome or Firefox when copying downwards.
Upwards works.
I've have this issue on the same machine with the following systems:
Debian 8 Jessie XFCe with XFCE 4.10 using Firefox or Google Chrome Xubuntu 14.04 with XFCE 4.10 and 4.12 using Firefox or Google Chrome Xubuntu 12.04 live cd using Firefox
This doesn't happen on the same machine with the following systems:
Debian 8 Jessie KDE using Firefox or Google Chrome Kubuntu 15.04 live DVD using Firefox LibreOffice Writer LibreOffice Calc Mousepad
[URL]
Ex. Go to google.com and paste this in the search area:
can highlight by going upwards but not downwards xfce My mouse can highlight the first line starting with the word "ssh" and the last line ending with the word "everything ..."
My mouse cursor cannot go past the last line "expressions can match many items, but evidently not everything ..."
If I scroll upward, I can copy the entire webpage.
KDE 4.x I don't have this issue.
Using Win7 on a laptop with Firefox 41.0.2 and I'm able to scroll downwards without any issues using the same mouse that was connected to the machine with Xubuntu 14.04.
Sometimes I come across fixes for linux issues on websites. I copy the information and email it to myself for future reference in case I have to reinstall the OS again. I can do a ctrl A and ctrl c but then the entire website is copied. The ads on the side, etc.
If I put my left mouse cursor on the first word in a thread and drag/highlight downwards, my mouse cursor stops line 35 on the page. If I do the same thing but backwards, my mouse cursor goes all the way up the page. This only happens on Firefox and Google Chrome. This doesnt' happen with mousepad, Libre writer or Libre calc.
title says ist all: downloaded and installed the current FP-DEB from Adobe and installed it via GDebi.Result: Firefox (3.6.15) doesn't play any videos anymore (shows "need to upgrade...")But: the FP is installed properly, as seen by Opera using it just fine.Any ideas how to tell Firefox where to find it?I have found '/opt/firefox/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so' and I have copied it as '/opt/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so' to no avail.
After I click my firebox browser button on my unity launcher (or in applications) it does nothing. If I click it from my launcher it blinks 6 or 7 times then, does nothing.I have had this problem before, but a simple log-off log-on fixed it. I have even tried to restart and nothing changed. Is there something else I should try? Sudo killall firefox, says no processes, but I dont think this would be necessary after a restart even. What else can I do? Should I uninstall, then re-install, or is this unnecessary?
I am developing an extension for firefox that enables users to chat with any others who happen to be browsing the same website at the same time. The xul file adds a tool bar with a button "Enable Chat" in the browser toolbox. when a user clicks the Enable chat button, the server initiates the chat. I went through many tutorials for extension development. They have helped. But I cant seem to get my extension up properly. Ill just put up the contents of my files for extension..
/home/neethusha/extensions/blaze (blaze is the name of the extension) chrome/content/blaze.xul install.rdf chrome.manifest
[Code]....
I made the pointer to the extension in a file named "blazebutton @anywhere.com" and saved it in the firefox profile folder "/home/neethusha/.mozilla/firefox/d5ma3rr9.dev/extensions"
When i open the firefox in this profile, the extension is not loading...
With the last several updates to Firefox, loading pages from several different sites slows down to (slower than) a crawl - taking sometimes minutes. Most of the time, this occurs loading ads.
I don't remember what release this started with, but I didn't have problems before, and I don't have any problems loading the same web pages on IE8 (running on XP). This is the same on F12 and F11.
I have tried changing some of the securty choices, even tried blocking certain sites, but no luck.
Also, several times after a download, firefox freezes, although the rest of the desktop is okay.
On my computer, I'm using 11.3, KDE 4.4.4 and Firefox 3.6.8. Firefox is so s...l...o...w..... It's slow loading and it's slow browsing. Konqueror takes 1, maybe 2 seconds to load, and another second to load the home page. Firefox takes a good 30 seconds to load. The only message I get when loading from a terminal is about not using a shared database. I don't hear the disk churning like it would with a fragmented disk.
I can't believe everyone is having this response, the hue and cry would be enormous! Anything to try? Should I try loading another browser? I tried Opera on 11.2 and didn't really like it, had problems with a lot of content. What about Sea Monkey (Gad, I HATE words with monkey in them!) Konqueror won't show a lot of videos and I have problems using the back and forward buttons. I'll wait for fixes but in the meantime.
I was unable to access my Facebook account because a few days ago firefox stopped loading the page. I am using firefox 3.5.7 Ubuntu 9.10 with the latest (2.6.31-17) kernel. I have the Adblock Plus extention, but it has no effect on the issue (I tried to disable it).
