When I print from a web page, it prints 3 pages from a web page that looks like it would print more than 3 pages. It seems like only the first, second and last sections of a web page is being printed. Is there an easy fix to this?
I create/modify web pages on Ubuntu and on Ubuntu it looks good but on Firefox that runs on Windows it is all messed up. The pictures or text is not as intended and that is really annoying. What is the issue here?I really don't understand.

The only thing I do not like about it is the fact that it changes the background color of all webpage text boxes to black, which sorta ruins a lot of sites. where I can modify just that little bit? the webpage text box color? I'd like to keep the theme and just set the text boxes back to normal. Using Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop Edition.

Kconquer in Fedora 14 can display without problem.

I have posted the following below on the Ubuntu Forums but have not got a satisfactory answer yet. My problem is as follows:I have installed Xubuntu on my machine to test a setup I want to to for my in-laws. Everything went well until I realised I have a problem loading some pages on Firefox.
There is no error message but they are just stuck on loading and finally timing out. I have then downloaded Opera and I am showing the same problem. A bit of research showed it could be a IPV6 issue. I therefore disabled ipv6 in about:config and also /etc/modprobe.d/aliases - 'alias net-pf-10 ipv6' to alias 'net-pf-10 off ipv6'. No change - still can't get those pages loaded.
I am facing a peculiar issue when printing Japanese text through CUPS (though I am not sure if this is the right forum).
I developed a Java application (that uses a graphical object to print to a PrinterJob class) that prints text (of Japanese characters) to a printer. When I login in en_US/en_UK locale, the Japanese characters get printed from my Java app just fine. However, when I login in ja_JP and give a print job through my Java app, no Japanese text is printed at all. I get characters from only within the ASCII subset printed instead. I am using Serif and Courier New fonts in my app. Relevant details are:

Using Win7 on a laptop with Firefox 41.0.2 and I'm able to scroll downwards without any issues using the same mouse that was connected to the machine with Xubuntu 14.04.
Sometimes I come across fixes for linux issues on websites. I copy the information and email it to myself for future reference in case I have to reinstall the OS again. I can do a ctrl A and ctrl c but then the entire website is copied. The ads on the side, etc.
If I put my left mouse cursor on the first word in a thread and drag/highlight downwards, my mouse cursor stops line 35 on the page. If I do the same thing but backwards, my mouse cursor goes all the way up the page. This only happens on Firefox and Google Chrome. This doesnt' happen with mousepad, Libre writer or Libre calc.
I'm doing some bash-scripting and want to be able to print some text (just plain text) files into the new bash-scripts, created within a loop. Here's a short example of what I do:

Doing the above works for creating new bash scripts (bash_script_1 - bash_script_40) but the variables are not determined. I would like, if possible, to somehow print the text in file1.txt into the new bash-scripts with the variables determined, i.e:

The text files I read are quite extensive so I would really prefer not having to paste them into the FOR-loop directly.
My code perl code is as below.I want to print the contents of file "/dir/Myfile".But problem is that the file "Myfile" contains html content as below.

I have Brother HL2250N. This worked out of the box with 13.0 using the Brother drivers. I also have a Brother MFC-7820N which works fine in 13.0 and 13.37. In 13.37 the testpage from CUPS prints fine. However when I try to print anything from kate or libreoffice I just get pages and pages of text starting with

I assume this the post script file that is printing out. How do I get this to print properly?

So now I still need to be able to select a font when I print certain text files from the command line but it seems this is impossible. I've been working with instances and lpoptions, which allows me to do a lot of other things I need like orientation and margins and even set the font size, but I still cannot choose a font other than the default.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble printing both in Firefox 3.6.13 and Gimp 2.6.2. When I select File > Print in the menu, the print window appears. But the inside of the print window is almost empty, i.e. it does not show the list of printers available. When I try to close it, I get the message: 'The window with title "Print" is unresponsive. Do you wish to terminate this application?'.
After I click 'yes', in Gimp, I get the following error message: Plug-in crashed: "print" (/usr/lib64/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/print). But the main Gimp window does not disappear. In Firefox, after I click yes, program crashes altogether. I use OpenSuse 11.1, Linux kernel 2.6.27.21-0.1-mp, my architecture is x86_64. It's curious that I can still print using Konqueror, KEdit, or using lpr from the command line. Is it the problem with something beyond the applications themselves (Firefox and Gimp)?

I have an odd problem with a computer I just set up. It is slack64 with Alien Bob's multilib packages. When I have the gtk+2-compat package installed I can no longer see any printers in firefox. I get error messages showing that it is trying to use the 32bit gtk+2 stuff. If I uninstall the gtk+2-compat package the printers show up as they should in firefox. I do not have this problem on my own slackware64/multilib system.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed in the past week or so that any time I print something from Firefox I wind up with a pile of paper that has either nothing on it, is a mess of graphics characters, or a combination of the two. No other applications seem to have problems printing. I can successfully print from gedit, OOWriter, OOCalc, as well as other browsers (well, I'm not 100% certain of Opera yet). Output from LaTeX/dvips and even an old handcrafted PostScript file can be printed correctly with "lpr". I've tried printing to a file from all the browsers on my system and they all produce output viewable with "gv" except Firefox. So... I suspect that something's gotten horribly misconfigured in my FF settings.
Q: What does one do to go back to FF defaults without blowing away the entire browser configuration? I'm not keen on losing all the browser settings if I can possibly avoid it. Especially bookmarks and stored passwords (though those could be written down, I guess, and re-saved). This problem started with FF 3.5.4 (if memory serves) that I had gotten from OpenSUSE's download site. Today I uninstalled that and grabbed a copy of the 3.6.3 tar archive and installed that. It didn't help so I suspect it's a configuration problem that 3.6.3 has inherited from the old settings.
One thing I will try as soon as I can is to login into the system as a different user and see if that account is able to print correctly from FF. I will post the results as soon as I attempt that. I was looking around in the "about:config" page and noticed that there are definitions for ancient print queues that no longer exist on our network. I can see no way to remove these. Is there a way to remove these unneeded configuration settings?
Since upgrading to Lucid on two different PCs - one clean install and one upgrade I am experiencing a strange problem when printing from Firefox.Every printout from Firefox has a very pale yellow background on the whole print area.If I print to a pdf file rather than directly to the printer, then print the pdf file the problem does not occur.If I print to a postscript file, then print that the problem is present.No other applications I have tested have this problem (open office, gedit, google chrome)The printer is an HP Business Jet 2200 and I have tried all four offered drivers.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn viewing some web pages, the right hand dozen or so characters are hidden unless the left-right scroll bar is used. When Firefox 3.5.8 32 bit is expanded to full screen on a 1920 pixel wide monitor on Kubuntu 9.10, Firefox changes the word wrap so the new dozen or so characters are STILL hidden, forcing me to use the left-right scrool bar.
There no longer appears to be any Word Wrap option. I tried several solutions Googled, including userContent.css hacks and a couple of add-ins, but they all appear to apply only to the preformatted tag. This is not a "pre" issue. The text in question is not inside the preformatted text tag, and the site CSS is not under my control.
I'm having problems with writing text. It usually happens in the google search bar next to the address bar in firefox. The text sometimes automatically highlights itself at what appears to be random intervals, so i usually end up with the last part of a word (which is usually over-writing the first half, which was highlighted). This is extremely annoying as i have no clue what i could have done to cause this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI think it started after the last Firefox update - I can't select text in forms on any page - not even here, while I'm writing this. When I double click, the selection appears for a fraction of a second, and vanishes instantly. Neither can I select text by dragging, the same happens. I can still select everything with ctrl+A, but I can't select single words or sentences. It's driving me nuts. I've actually switched to Chrome because of this, but I'm missing a lot of Firefox's functionality there, so I'd rather stay with Mozilla.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Maverick this afternoon, and have run into one very small, but very annoying problem.
Since upgrading, the text color for the Firefox menu is black. This makes it unreadable/invisible using probably the majority of personas. I have been able to find no way of changing this color. This was not an issue in Lucid.
There have been other threads on this subject, some of which suggest editing a userChrome.css file. I have edited that file, but upon restarting Firefox, the changes I have made revert back to what they had been before I made my edits.
I have also fiddled around with trying to change all manner of GTK settings, but still nothing has had any influence. I logged into a Gnome session, as well, but was still unable to remedy this.
all my text files are opened with firefox how can I change that.
