Jul 8, 2009
I have installed Linux 2.6 kernel RHEL 5.3 server edition, Upon we installed DOSEMU 1.4.We are unable to run the dos graphical applictions over dosemu. One sample DOS EXE for drawing a circle using Graphics library routines in C fails to start and displays the following errorBGI Error: Graphics not initialized (use 'initgraph')Please let us know any dosemu configuration setting to tweaked to run the DOS graphical application

What is a good Ftp server application (preferably with a GUI interface)? I would like something in which you may set a login password. Also, how would you login to an FTP server which is through a router, as the computer IP address will be assigned now by the router, right? Take Linksys router for example, don't they all assign IP addresses to network computers based on the router IP Address, 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.200, etc?Since post above, I have installed vsftpd. I cannot figure out, as stated above, how to find the IP address to log into from offsite.
How to launch a graphical application using gnome-schedule ? I got some tutorials about cron after googling . But I couldn't understand the stuff about Screen number As an example, please tell what should be typed in "Task:" to launch say, nautilus
I am trying to rock cluster for the large computing. my all slave node connected with rock cluster master node. but I want to run the graphical application on the cluster node. I am not getting this point .
I have a web server that hosts multiple websites. Am looking for an application that can be run on my workstation and makes it possible to watch Apache logs live.
It should have a tabbed interface. When I launch the application, it has to connect to my server and should automatically open all access.log and error.log files and display all changes in real time (similar to tail -f command).
Does anything like this exist?
I'm tired of logging in many times in Konsole and executing tail -f commands to see parallel logs.
I dislike dependency ridden applications or applications that do something useful designed for a specific window manager. So I am starting a thread specifically for requests for applications in Gnome and KDE that aren't immediately available in XFCE, Fluxbox,Blackbox, IceWM, LXDE etc. For instance, I am personally creating a graphical sudo application for the lesser window managers. What other applications would you like to see? this is NOT a request for applications for Linux is general, ONLY ones already available in Linux.
on Suse linux 11.2 while trying to install sun webserver 7 I was unable to install it in graphical mode, is the any package that needs to be installed in order to do that
Anyway im trying to do a simple thing pointed out in the thread title. Everything is set up, cups-pdf works, in dosemu.conf lpt1 command is "lpr" printer-timeout is 10... I "work" in an accounting agency that has a program written in clipper back in 1992. Apparently some prints from this program produce text/plain and some produce application/octet-stream. text/plain is printed. The later is always aborted. I have uncommented the lines in mime.types and mime.convs. Which are located in /usr/share/cups/mime.
Poor old Paradox was fine (actually it was great!) in DOSEMU 1.4.0.1 (Feb 11, 2010) under Karmic, but refuses to start under Lucid. DOSEMU itself seems to be basically working ok. Paradox does fire up ok in DOSBOX, but that is not an ideal place for anything except games (no print etc). What might have changed? I'd really like to get this working again.
I've been running an old DOS app that reads and writes the parallel port bits to do a control task. Its worked great running on Ubuntu 6.06 but I can't get the version on 10.04 to read and write the actual hardware. I can't find what is missing from the configuration, as I recall all I did on 6.06 was edit /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf to uncomment the line:
$_ports = $_ports, " device /dev/lp0 range 0x378 0x37a" in the "Direct Hardware access" section and start the xdosemu session as root. The process runs in the background and has "just worked" for years. This has got me stuck as the last step of migrating from 6.06 to 10.04 -- everything except this, postfix, samba, etc. couldn't have been easier, but I'm stuck now
Yes the new motherboard parallel port is set for 0x378 and it shows in /proc/ioports. I guess it could be defective, but the software reads back the values it writes and thinks its working, its just none of the outputs change and changes on the inputs are not read so the code is stuck waiting for the initial response to its first output.
I've been starting to have a play with scripting, I'm still learning the basics though.I have one little question that. I want to have the script display a nice little graphical thing to indicate that the script has finished running. preferably some sort of customizable message with an OK button to close it. Even better if it looks proper as though it was always an Ubuntu app.
After a series of unrelated problems with my mouse (that had nothing to do with suse) I opened a process but I don't know what is it. It looks like a series of micro-post-its in the bottom of my desktop:Also, I checked the option to start a new session every time I start KDE, but this keeps appearing.
As the thread states, I wonder why my RAM usage is about 56% without any application running. It turns to 58% while opening Firefox (with only one Tab/Page opened) and typing this post. Is there something wrong?
I'd like to know if there is a script that can check and see if an application has been closed (I don't know a great deal about bash programming).I'm running an organ programme with this script.
/usr/bin/jackd -r -t5000 -dalsa -dhw:0 -r44100 -p1024 -n2 -P & java -jar /home/user/jOrgan/jorgan.jar & jack-rack -s space space &
I have a lyric plugin enabled but when I ask for a song's lyric I can't see it because of the character map settings, here is an example:So the question is how can I run Rhythmbox with an specific charmap?
I have two computers running Ubuntu. I want to run the copy of Firefox that is on the remote machine. i connect to the remote in the usual way, "ssh -X fermi", which brings up a console on the remote machine, fermi. When I type "firefox", however, it starts the copy of firefox that is on the local machine. On the remote machine, "ps aux|grep firefox" confirms that firefox is not running there. Is there a way to force execution of the remote copy?Or, can I start a local copy of firefox using the remote bookmarks, preferences, etc?
Running the Lynx and I have set up Evolution to download my Gmail e-mails but now I have a question.
When Evolution is running I get the notifications when e-mail come in and the little envelope at the top becomes "lit" to indicate I have new mail. What I want to know is how can I get notified without having the application "open", still having the notifications etc. but without having the application window open (like when you "close" Rhythmbox but it is still running at the top even though the windows is closed)?
unable to run opencv opllications on ubuntu(10.04)error:OpenCV Error: Unspecified error (The function is not implemented. Rebuild the library with Windows, GTK+ 2.x or Carbon support. If you are on Ubuntu or Debian, install libgtk2.0-dev and pkg-config, then re-run cmake or configure script) in cvNamedWindow, file /home/p/OpenCV-2.0.0/src/highgui/window.cpp, line 100.
I want to launch qiv upon startup to show a series of photos in slideshow fashion (this will be the sole purpose of this particular laptop). I tried adding the command via System->Preferences->Startup Applications but this does not produce the desired result. In fact, the slide show doesn't even start.
I need to take a screen capture while an application is running. The application is a touch screen calibration utility and alt-Prnt Scrn does not work when the calibration utility is active. Is there another way for me to capture the screen while the utility is active?
