I have a server client prog in which server is my 'agent' and client is 'manager'. Following is the code for both agent and manager. I want my agent to send what manager is requesting. But it is not working the way I want. The parameters which manager is requesting, agent has to send to manager but in this program result for those parameters is shown on agent's own terminal window. Where as I want them on manager's window. Secondly, there result is not correct, means it is giving ' 0 K ram and 0 no of process....

I recently removed Winblows Vista from my laptop and replaced it with Kubuntu 10.10 (I left the recovery partition on there, just in case). When I turn on the computer, the GRUB menu appears, I press enter, then a little flashing underscore appears on the screen in the top left hand corner. After a few seconds, the Kubuntu logo appears and I can log in.But yesterday I replace Kubuntu with Ubuntu 10.10. The Boot process is the same, but the little flashing underscore in the top left hand corner flashes for about 10 seconds longer then Kubuntu 10.10 did, and then a few paragraphs of text appears for a few seconds, then I am logged in automatically.Is this "unusual" boot process anything to worry about, or am I just being a noob.

So here's the situation. He plugs his audio jack into his computer and then into the speakers but it still plays from the computer speakers.
I finally got audio working on my ubuntu 9.10 desktop... now I am having sound issues watching movies from a network share.The sound device continually randomly changes to "dummy output device" and then there is no sound output. The sound icon dissapears on the toolbar. To get it back and audio to start working I have to $sudo alsa force-reloadIt seems to happen everytime there is a network delay, the movie will stop for a second and then when it plays the sound is gone

Somehow, it always picks the first card no matter what. In particular, I have tried setting DHCLIENT_PRIMARY_DEVICE to 'yes' resp. 'no' in both ifcfg-* files in /etc/sysconfig/network. Also, I have tried DHCLIENT_SET_DEFAULT_ROUTE but that also appears to be ignored. I remember having used this in the past with previous opensuse versions but it no longer seems to work. Now, in Ubuntu, it appears as read-only (but it works fine when I boot into Windows on the same machine). How can I deal with this? It's not a matter of my fstab, which I have never manually edited; the USB device is always auto-detected.
Upon mounting my USB key the icon in the bottom right corner displays 3 times. I had this problem already with Karmic, and I hoped that with Lucid it will fix itself.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Ubuntu 11.04 and I've been running into a bizarre scenario. So when I open a terminal, I can type commands into it. Then I open a tab (by pressing Ctrl+Shift+T) and can type into it normally as well. But when I close the tab (going back to the original terminal), I suddenly can't type into that terminal -- no characters appear on its command line. It is not a severe issue since if I jump to another window (say Firefox), then come back to that terminal, I can suddenly type again. Also as far as I know this seems to be the only scenario to which this problem occurs. Has anyone ran into the same issue?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm still trying to find out if my coby mp3 player will actually play mtv video files as is advertised.
ffmpeg -formats does list mtv but the only command I really ever used was one to convert a vid to an mp3 so I tried Code: ffmpeg -i test.mp4 -acodec copy output.mtv it returns Code: Unable to find a suitable output format for 'output.mtv' I can't find any mtv files online for purchase or free for that matter, so I know this is all pretty obscure but shouldn't there be a way to convert them since ffmpeg lists mtv format?
Usually I use Dragon Player most of the time. It plays low resolution files fine but somehow has trouble decoding the 1080p/30p video clips I shot with my Sanyo VPC-FH1. The images appears fuzzy and look like ghosts.
I am not sure what codec does Sanyo use, but I would imagine it is some sort of AVCHD variation.
Could anyone recommend a good MP4 player which can handle these HD videos?
Is there a way (as in there in Windows), for not to group tasks of same application, in one single button in the task manager? so even every instance of one app appears as separate buttons?
