Debian Multimedia :: Whenever Take A Shot, The Video Window Appears 'solid Blue' In The Output Image?

Sep 1, 2010

I'm trying to produce some screenshots of the screen in which there's a window playing a video in avi format. The problem is whenever I take a shot, the video window appears 'solid blue' in the output image. Is there any way or program with which I can capture the current frame of the video

Ubuntu Multimedia :: What Video Output Is Best - Autodetect Or X Window

Dec 9, 2010

In the control centre under multi media selector for configuring GStreamer it has Autodetect and two other setting, X Window System (No Xv) and X Window System (X11/XShm/Xv) etc. When I test the X Window System (No Xv) the test card in full screen is far better then autodetect, should I keep this setting, the reason I ask is I can't notice the difference when watching video.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Messy Video Playback Also Appears When Use Cheese To Capture Video With My Webcam

Feb 26, 2010

video playback is like I have applied a blueish sepia filter over it. And this is just the playback from totem player or mplayer, and not the playback from ..... (and generally online streaming) - this works just fine. this messy video playback also appears when I use cheese to capture video with my webcam. Note that the preview picture of the video file on nautilus has the natural colours it should have.

at first when I installed the os this particular problem didn't exist, but it came up the time I decided to follow the "comprehensive multimedia guide". So now I have all the pros of following the guide, but this is a major con...

Debian Multimedia :: Gnome - How To Change Background Image For Login Window

I've looked up various suggestions but none of them seem to work - the appearances window does not ever seem to change the background image for the login screen. Also, whenever I log out or when I close the lid on my laptop and it suspends, I am unable to log back in - all I see is a black screen and my cursor, which I can move.

Debian Multimedia :: Output Video To Tv With A Low End Atom Cpu Box?

Jul 9, 2010

Im trying to be able to output video to my tv with a low end atom cpu box(link below) running debian lenny. I realize it wont likely be true HD video. I also realize I wont be getting surround sound. My tv is a little bit older so it doesnt have a monitor input or I would have tried that. It does have HDMI and component though and i have a DVI to hdmi adapter and audio cables that will work once I have a video out solution. It does have a PCIE expansion bay but the power supply is only like 150w so i dont know that Ill be able to use a regular video card. I had considered some sort of usb output but dont know if any of that will work on linux. Any suggestions? Im pretty novice with the whole computer on my tv area and dont have alot of money to build a whole new system or i would just do that.

Excuse me if this is in the wrong place, I am new to the forum and Debian.

Today, while installing Ubuntu, I had a strange issue with my laptop in which after installation, I heard startup sounds and had no video display. After hours of frustration and about 7 install disks, I plugged my laptop into another monitor, and low and behold, it appears both of my desktops are on the external monitor. After trying to solve this issue, I decided to give the Debian Gnome live CD a try, but I now have the same issue.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Video Color Is Very Blue?

Aug 16, 2010

I must have inadvertently changed a color setting in Ubuntu. Suddenly, the color in all video that I play is distinctly blue (human skin is shades of blue and green). This happens to multiple videos in both VLC and Movie Player. It does not happen when I play the same videos on VLC in Windows. Pictures and all other graphics appear completely normal. I am still quite new to Ubuntu and I've never encountered anything like this before. I have no idea where to start

Ubuntu Multimedia :: X11 Video Playback Blue Saturation

Feb 21, 2010

When trying to playback DVDs in VLC media player, I have to switch the video output driver to get any playback. If I leave it on "Default" (which I think is defaulting to "XVideo Extension Video Output"), I get a solid green or blue screen (which I also get with "Xvideo Extension Video Output")If I switch it to "OpenGL Video Output", I get proper DVD playback but it is kind of pixelated and ugly.If I switch it to "X11 Video Output", I get DVD playback that is very crisp and sharp, the image quality is great.unfortunately, the colors are completely messed up and the blue is completely saturated.I've played with the color settings (especially the Hue setting), but I can't get the colors to look right.

I'd really like to use the x11 video output since the quality is the best, but I can't get the colors right.the first one (Screenshot.png) is OpenGL output, and the second (Screenshot-1.png) is X11 output. It's also worth noting that I am on an IBM ThinkPad R32 with an ATI Mobility Radeon 7000 (or M6, or M6 LE, whatever you wanna call it).I'm running a fully updated 9.04 Jaunty installation.

Debian Multimedia :: MPlayer Video Output In Layer Beneath Console Text

Jan 26, 2011

When I try to play a dvd and give mplayer no options, it defaults to "X11" for the video output, which maxes out the cpu. To get around this, firstly I tried to play the dvd using "cvidix" in the console.

I used the following command:
mplayer -ao alsa -vo cvidix -fs -framedrop -stop-xscreensaver -dvd-device /dev/dvd1 dvd://1
This played the dvd, but the console text was still visible over the top of the movie; i.e. mplayer was playing in the layer beneath the console text

Then I tried using xvidix in X:
mplayer -ao alsa -vo xvidix -fs -framedrop -stop-xscreensaver -dvd-device /dev/dvd1 dvd://1
This gives a green line about 5mm thick down the right side of the screen, but other than that it is ok.

SUSE / Novell :: Installing OpenSUSE 11.1 On Playstation 3 - On Startup A Blue/grey Screen Appears

Jan 17, 2009

I just tried installing OpenSUSE 11.1 onto my Playstation 3. I installed the otheros.bld fine (which I downloaded via a link provided on the OpenSUSE website). I then inserted my 32-bit Gnome CD for installation and restarted my system. Then on startup, a blue/grey screen appears. Here are the links to the screenshot (sorry for poor quality):

[Full Screen]
[url]

[Top Half]
[url]

[Bottom Half]
[url]

As you can see, the only option is for me to select the gameboot, which obviously takes me back to the Playstation XMB. There are keys at the bottom of the screen, but this is only to change the resolution. So I have no option to install the OS.

Does anybody know why this screen appears and have any ideas on how I can get around this problem to install SUSE onto my Playstation?

In order to make the machine boot i hit escape and a message says leaving interactive startup mode. At this point the machine continues to start up.

When i do manage to get it to boot i get the following message repeated many times:

I should also add... The laptop will not close down, once i click switch off the screen turns blue and displays the fedora emblem in the centre. At the top right text says "Shutting Down" but at this point the system hangs.

Debian Multimedia :: Blue Windows In GNOME3 Shell

Oct 12, 2015

I have small problem with GNOME in Wheezy (trying it out just for fun). Whenever I start GNOME Shell and open any window, I get only blue color where windows should be. Entire window is just blue. Shell starts fine. GNOME Classic starts and works well too, even better than MATE in Jessie. My graphics card is old NVidia GeForce MX 440 8x AGP. I suspect it is causing problems.

Kernel is Wheezy's 3.2.

Found this: [URL] ....

I'm afraid I can't use GNOME Shell in Wheezy. Might try Jessie's version instead.
