Software :: Centos 5 Can't Make The Upgrade - Error During Package Updater
Oct 20, 2010
I can't make the upgrade..... I've see the dettails and this is what is write: file /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Compress/Zlib.pm conflicts between attempted installs of perl-Compress-Zlib-2.015-1.el5.rf.noarch and perl-IO-Compress-2.030-2.el5.rf.noarch file /usr/share/man/man3/Compress::Zlib.3pm.gz conflicts between attempted installs of perl-Compress-Zlib-2.015-1.el5.rf.noarch and perl-IO-Compress-2.030-2.el5.rf.noarch
When I select package updater for update software it gives an error I am attached my system information & error file. Error message:- file /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/psvn.el from install of subversion-1.6.12-0.1.el5.rf.x86_64 conflicts with file from package subversion-1.4.2-4.el5_3.1.i386 file /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/subversion.mo from install of subversion-1.6.12-0.1.el5.rf.x86_64 conflicts with file from package subversion-1.4.2-4.el5_3.1.i386 file /usr/share/locale/es/LC_MESSAGES/subversion.mo from install of subversion-1.6.12-0.1.el5.rf.x86_64 conflicts with file from package subversion-1.4.2-4.el5_3.1.i386 .....
I have installed a base 5.2 server. I updated the network proxies in preferences and also updated the values for internet access. I can't get the package updater to work. I can use "yum update" and this work but I don't want to update everything. I have allowed a full update and one or more of them is affecting an IOZone test I am running to fiber storage. If I run the test to the base install, it completes OK. If I run the test after all the updates, the test fails with file writes and test files diaappearing. In any case, I would like to use the software updated hoping this will allow me to selectively add the updates. There is about 400 updates that get applied. I am currently getting the 5.3 image and will do and install with that to see if the test runs.
For the past several days the Package Updater has popped up wanting me to install an update to iceweasel. Each time I try to do the iceweasel-31.8.0esr-1-deb8u1 (64-bit) I get the following error message:
E: Internal Error, ordering was unable to handle the media swap
I recently switched my server runlevel to 3 and I don't notice any updating of any kind going on, does the updater run in runlevel 3? If it is possible, how do I do it? Is it a service that I need to start? If so, how?
I'm on OpenSuSE 11.1, and since I needed some features of Firefox 3.5.x I manually updated via 1-Click intall to 3.5.8. Now the Updater-Applet signals a security repo update for FF 3.0.18 which is no longer installed since replaced by the 3.5.8, and I see no way to get rid of the red warning sign; this is very bad since now I get no longer informed about other new updates to really installed packages ....
I would like the updater applet to offer updates other than security fixes from the base repos. For example I would like to be notified automatically about updates for VLC and Chrome. How do I do that?
No updates are available No network connection was detected. =================================
I did updates almost daily on wheezy
Todays updates [via the Pkg Updater GUI] were over 300 meg. After the updates and reboot System was showing version 8.0 in the GUI desktop and using 'cat /etc/debian_version'
Then... From terminal I did ...
apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade
The dist-upgrade was over 40 minute and ~ 500meg
Things seemed to go well.
I updated sources.list with apt-spy.
[In order to trouble-shoot: I subsequently commented-out the apt-spy sources and found some generic sources on internet]
I have got this to work before, now will not resolve dependencies and says something about not finding the mirrors. Are the repositories offline for some reason as this might explain the problem. Here is the error..Cannot download headers failure: repodata/filelists.sqlite.bz2 from updates: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
I keep getting this error. packageKit Error dep-resolution-failed: patch:choqok-3320.noarch conflicts with libqoauth1.x86_64 When I go to the YAST software manager and search for libqoauth1.x86_64 it doesn't hit on anything. What gives here?
Running a 5.2 VM on ESXI, and the software updater keeps dying when I try to download some development packages (default libraries and tools). yum installs packages just fine - it's only if I use the add/remove software. See error log below:
I am getting this error in the console whenever I upgrade packages. This doesn't affect anything I do in Ubuntu, but it is just a little annoying. Here is what I get when I execute sudo apt-get upgrade:

Suse 11.0 nvidia software repository not working when the updater is run, and it gives an error message which indicates it must be out dated and no longer used. Here is the site in my repository for nvidia; [URL], I did try to add a new nvidia repository site with that Yast tool, but I could not get it to fully work. The new one I did find was as a ftp type, not [URL]. With this older Suse 11.0, and kernel 2.6.25.20-0.7-pae, then is it true that there may not be any more nvidia display driver updates available.? So then I should just remove that nvidia repository from the list, and be okay if the kernel does not update too much newer version, right ?
setting up Nvidia packages on CentOS. The best advice regarding these drivers that I found was to add the RPM Fusion Yum repository(as well as EPEL, which RPM Fusion depends on).I got that set up, but I still don't have any Nvidia packages available! I'm reasonably confident that I set up RPM Fusion correctly from Yum's output:
yum repolist Loading "fastestmirror" plugin repo id repo name status addons CentOS-5 - Addons enabled
[code]....
But actually trying to install the package gives me: No package kmod-nvidia available. Even a yum search for nvidia doesn't find any packages.
I want to upgrade my kernel from version 2.6.38-10 to 3 I downloaded the kernel 3 from kernel.org by this command :wget url while i'm in /tmp directory
and i did these commands also
$ tar -xjvf linux-2.6.25.tar.bz2 -C /usr/src $ cd /usr/src
till now everything is okay so now the next step as my manual
$ make gconfig that's give me this result * * Unable to find the GTK+ installation. Please make sure that * the GTK+ 2.0 development package is correctly installed... * You need gtk+-2.0, glib-2.0 and libglade-2.0. * make[1]: *** No rule to make target `scripts/kconfig/.tmp_gtkcheck', needed by `scripts/kconfig/gconf.o'. Stop. make: *** [gconfig] Error 2
and the gtk+ is installed correctly but don't know what's wrong exactly .
Recently I updated to centos 5.5 , every thing is fine , but the mkinitrd can't updated
When try: yum clean all yum update

Every time I selected addons and Mysql i got a notice of a bug report. So i gave in and only selected server and it is installing. I hope i can read enough to get it installed..
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section. But when i start the Package Updater it get's a (Error resolving dependencies). The Details in the error are: Missing Dependency: liblzo.so.1 is needed by package mplayer Missing Dependency: libdvdread.so.3 is needed by package lsdvd Missing Dependency: libcucul.so.0 is needed by package mplayer Missing Dependency: libdvdread.so.3 is needed by package gstreamer-plugins-ugly
What do i do? I'm thinking i have to get and install/download these package's but cant find them tried regular searching the web and using Yum. Cant find any of them to install to fix this issue.
File "/usr/bin/yum", line 29, in ? yummain.user_main(sys.argv[1:], exit_code=True) File "/usr/share/yum-cli/yummain.py", line 229, in user_main errcode = main(args)
I don't know if this is the right place to do this so I will try. I have noticed a lot of posts around the web with the same problems, so I guess this is something that is common, you think it would be fixed by now but anyways. Almost constantly when I try to install a new package with yum in my system it almost always gives me a dependency error, this is the latest one when I try to install HTOP:
Error: Missing Dependency: rtld(GNU_HASH) is needed by package htop Error: Missing Dependency: libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.4) is needed by package htop
I was running CentOs 5.3 and did a "yum upgrade" and got the following problem: Transaction Check Error: file /usr/share/man/man1/xdelta.1.gz from install of xdelta-1.1.4-1.el5.rf.x86_64 conflicts with file from package xdelta-1.1.3-20.i386
[code]....
It seems that somehow multiple entries were made for the xdelta package - how do I clean this up?
I am trying to install iscsi-target on centos 5.4 i386. When I go into the iscsi-target directory and type make I get the following error: [root@cluster-storage iscsitarget-1.4.19]# make cc: /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.el5/build/include/linux/version.h: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden cc: keine Eingabedateien /bin/sh: line 0: [: -le: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -le: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -le: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -le: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -le: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -le: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -le: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -le: unary operator expected /bin/sh: line 0: [: -lt: unary operator expected make -C usr make[1]: Entering directory `/opt/iscsitarget-1.4.19/usr' ..... make: *** [kernel] Fehler 2
While i am using yum update am getting an error: Error: Missing Dependency: libgpod.so.0()(64bit) is needed by package rhythmbox-0.11.6-4.el5.x86_64 (installed).
I come from ubuntu, and, although they are all linux distros, they differ in a lot of things. Well, I just install the OS and I have a 1 TB drive for storage formatted in NTFS, I identified the device with fdisk -l, but the problem is Centos doesn't understand ntfs partition out of the box. Is there any package I need to install. I tried yum install ntfs-3g, but got an error: "no such package in repos,"
